who has the worst taste in music on the board?

damn..whats with all the negativity?

oh i know! its most likely because its much easier for you all to sit behind your monitors and flame people you've never even met, that way you don't have to worry about getting your face stomped into some asphalt.

OPINIONS ARE LIKE ASSHOLES! EVERYONE HAS ONE, AND EVERYONE'S STINKS!

in case you haven't noticed...not everyone likes the same shit....so maybe its time to grow up and accept that, and play nicely.

oh..and i'll save everyone the trouble and just call myself a bitch and admit that i have a slight attitude problem.

i haven't noticed any flaming going on here, but let me be the first:

you're a dumbass for posting this. the 'subjectivity' argument has already been made more than once, and a it was put a lot more elegantly.

and if you consider the stuff that's gone on here 'flaming', then you just flamed everybody here while saying we shouldn't flame other people.

oh i know!  its most likely because its much easier for you all to sit behind your monitors and flame people you've never even met, that way you don't have to worry about getting your face stomped into some asphalt.

and what the hell does this ^ mean? i've read it 3 times, and it still makes no sense to me at all.

Maybe she's been watching American History X alot and what she said was an horrible attempt of trying to threaten us all with curb stompings?

now i'm wondering what kind of movie 'american history x' would be if it was about metalhead elitists instead of racists. i picture edward norton with a bunch of tattoos that say "journey sucks" and "barry manilow must die," and in prison he gets gang-raped by a group of neil diamond fans who sing 'i am, i said' while they do it.

But you hate the Pixies?!? If your gonna tell a joke like that with a straight face, you have to give us some sort of indication that you're kidding. Otherwise, you, my good sir, are now persona non grata in my mind.

Eh, I dunno if I hate them, really, but I do dislike them. I think I like 3 songs, and that's pretty much it. A couple of my friends discovered them during college and I heard all about them and heard all their stuff many times, and simply could not get into them. I find them annoying and boring.

Oh, and they were a huge influence on Nirvana; that's a grudge I can't really eliminate.

So because I dislike the Pixies, I'm an undesirable person?

Jesus tapdancing Christ, I thought *I* was intolerant of people's tastes/views.

I'm amazed there hasn't been that much flaming in this thread actually, in a good way, I guess. The whole U2 argument i'm completely indifferent to, as well as the pixies, as both bands are just nothing I even remotely get into. I think my writing -friendly- in the title calmed folks like a demerol enema. American History X wouldn't have worked at all with metalheads. We're WAY too unorganized to form gangs like in the movie. Ever been to a local metal show? The straightedge kids always act like they're better than everyone, the black metal band never shows up, the death metal guys show up drunk when their friends' band goes on..usually pretty bad, depends on the scene though. The midwest metal scene is truly sad. Gore bands, mostly. No grind, no black metal, maybe 3 metalcore bands...

Agent of Oblivion: You sum the death/black/grind/hardcore scene up perfectly......I just laughed when I read it.....I am just lucky I live close to San Francisco because they have a GREAT underground metal following, and mostly EVERY tour that comes through CA stops in the bay area~!

Sacramento has a good following, we always sellout the show, the problem is, I don't think the bands realize it is worth their time to come here.

Well, since I don't drop in much, no one would know anything about what I like... So here's some bands and their corresponding cds which are in my very small and pathetic collection. There's a lot in here which are remnants of my earlier days where I bought anything I heard on MTV on a whim; also some stuff from when I didn't have enough cds to fill one of those "free cd" offers. A few choices aren't bound to go over here, but what do I care? I definitely need more stuff, but there's only so much cash to go around, especially when you're too lazy to work.

No cal, you have no idea how lucky you are to be around a good scene. The midwest for the most part is absolute crap. there's a band or two up around chicago, and a couple around Indy, but in between...lord.

For instance, there's 2 metal bands in the town I live in. one's a gore band, not too bad musically, but it's gore, and there's only so much you can do with that. the other is a thrash band that's fairly decent, but nothing really remarkable. an amazing guitarist and a good drummer pretty much carry the outfit technically.

I've been trying to get a goddamn grind band going around here FOREVER, but everybody (including myself) in this town plays the fucking bass, and there's two drummers that can blast beat, both of which are in the aforementioned bands. Guitarists are never hard to come by really, but ones that want to play grindcore can be few and far between. Most of them around here just want to jam out metallica...I fucking hate this town.

In a town of about 18,000 people, 100 of whom are even remotely interested in metal at all, 30 of whom play instruments, and I swear to god this is true, TEN of them play bass. along with random guitarists, a crappy singer here and there, and the two drummers. Like I said, pickings are better around chi town and Indy, but that's a fuckin' trek from around Ft. Wayne, IN. Indy's probably the closest at like 3 hours and change. Way too far to drive for practice 2 or 3 times a week.

"Add some Cure, New Order, Therapy?, PJ Harvey, Cohen, Marvin Gaye, The Smiths, and Neil Young to that, and you might be ok."

Cerebus you rule - just for Therapy?

Not undesirable exactly. But I can't tell if you missed it or not, but I was just joking. Probably should a thrown a smiley in there. :)

Intolerance can be a virtue.

Mass is decent with its scene...we get some nice bands coming around here a lot (Slayer comes through usually twice a year, and their shows ALWAYS sell-out the venue), Megadeth used to come here once a year when they were still together (poor Mustaine...)...but the local scene is pretty shit unless you like hardcore and emo.

Hey, converge, any suggestions of shows to see?

I assumed you were joking, Cannon...my last line there was somewhat tongue-in-cheek.

And yes, intolerance is sometimes a godsend. I do not tolerate people being rude to me, or anyone else, while I am working, so I have received a few complaints here and there because of it. It's a good thing my boss likes me and realizes the customers are fucking idiots, so she doesn't really pay attention to what they say.

But this thread isn't about working with the public, it's about bad taste in music, which you, Cannon, unfortunately have. :)

It's ok, dude; there are plenty of other people like you. You're not alone!

Aww man...

Seriously though, not liking the Pixies is like not liking blowjobs from beautiful women. But apparently you swing in a different direction. And that's cool. No judgements here.
