Guest notJames Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Suppose that HBK takes a bad bump in the middle of the match. You don't want to break kayfabe and end the match. If you could plan for such a possibility, how would you counteract it ahead of time? Would you plan to have someone run in to prevent HHH from beating on him? Would you have HHH have a change of heart? Would you have HBK beg for mercy, thereby giving HHH the "rub"? Would you have HHH cut a scathing promo on HBK saying how weak and worthless he is, and then have someone else run in for an impromptu match? Or would you just cut your losses and give RVD/Benoit another 10 minutes?
Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 20, 2002 This is a great topic first off, very interesting indeed. As for an answer... ...I can't really say, as it would depend on the nature of the injury, and how extreme it is.
Guest DawnBTVS Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I would have Trips cut the scathing promo and then have Kane make his big return to save HBK and set up an impromptu match with Trips. or...we could just have Kane run-in, Chokeslam Trips and help HBK to the back to a nice pop. Thus u can further the Trips/Kane feud on Raw the next night.
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Or would you just cut your losses and give RVD/Benoit another 10 minutes? That's funny, thinking that HHH/Shawn would be on before Benoit/RVD
Guest TestKick Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I'd have RVD & Benoit or Test & Taker come down to the ring. Take the mic and say "No more cripples, we're wrestling now. If you don't like it, you'll be face down like the rest".
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 ohhh nooo heres what happens..... during this "fight" HBK and HHH goes back and forth all over the arena.... and just when HBK looks to hobble a win out of no where, the Old Rockers Music plays...and Out comes Marty Jenetty COMPLETE with his Will Wrestle for Food Sign. He and Shawn then Double Superkick HHH, and just when it looks like a Rocker's Reunion, Marty hits him with the Sign and throws him through a Plate glass window which would suddenly appear out of no where for No apparent reason, and security would rush in and drag out Marty who would be shouting and drooling... " YOU BURIED MY CAREER!!!!" And Marty gets dumped out back with his Broken will Wrestle for Food Sign. lol
Guest SlowChemical6 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 If HBK takes a bad bump, one of two things is going to happen. One: his lower back is going to be in excruciating, agonizing pain, in which case he will probably gut it out just like he did at WrestleMania XIV. The other scenario -- and the one that a lot of people are worried about -- is that he can't get back up and continue because he's paralyzed.

Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Screw the Injury Theory. What if, the match doesn't take place at all at the PPV and we find out the next day from Torch, 1Wrestling, Observer, etc, that Shawn Michaels went "Old School" and walked out when he heard he had to job? Guest DJ Jeff Report post Posted August 20, 2002 If HBK does get injured, the referee will stop the match, and HHH will help HBK to the back. Remember, this is all part of the storylines this match, therefore, they aren't planning on anyone getting injured. I really hope HBK doesn't get injured. Now, the question should be, will HHH job to HBK?

And you want to book the match with the possibility that HBK could get injured during the match. You have to come up with a back-up plan for this possibility...before the match ever takes place. Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 myself, i wouldnt do this... but i bet the WWE would bring back Hall for a one-shot. "Have Bret Hart there to run over HBK's throat with his wheelchair, and we've got ourselves a must-see PPV. " good god lol

Yeah, that's pretty obvious. As for a backup plan, maybe they could have HHH just cut a promo saying how weak HBK is, and that he shouldn't have fought him at SummerSlam to begin with. That's about all I can really think the WWE would do.
Guest notJames Report post Posted August 21, 2002 I can't believe I spelled "contingency" wrong. Oy vey... Anyway, I was also thinking of a debuting Kane as a stopgap, but that would only happen if he's slated to join RAW in the first place. as of now, i'm not 100% that it will happen, seeing as how SD's supposed top babyface Hogan is gone. Marty Jannetty? What are you people smoking?
