Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 20, 2002 So, WHO'S FIRST? Jerico, Benoit, Eddy, or Angle? My money is on eddy.
Guest FeArHaVoC Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Neither, The night after Summerslam Brock goes to the ring and puts out an open challenge and Goldberg runs through the crowd, Spears him and wins the title. Then I kill myself.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Meanwhile, Jim Ross says nothing's happening... I think Goldberg is just mouthing off. It's like this has all occured all of a sudden. I kind of get the feeling that someone out there sat down and said "Look. It's been a year. You better make some noise or they're going to forget about you." Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted August 20, 2002 People, People. Have you forgotten that HHH works for the WWE?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Fuck Goldberg. I am SOOO glad that football season is almost here. Monday Night Football vs. RAW. It's not even a question as long as RVD is getting squashed by Big Show.
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Do you realize that if they took the microphone away from Big Show, and only let him squash people and then leave as quickly as he came (in other words, we're talking like 5 second squashes here) the guy could become over as a monster? Although I'm doubtful, since Vince has killed the crowd on this guy many times before.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted August 20, 2002 HHH or Goldberg...HHH or Goldberg... HHH: Massive ego, squashes talented stars wherever they may arise. Bangs boss' daughter. Books himself to be the center of attention in angles. Has horrible matches and can't be carried these days to a decent match except by the best of performers. Injury prone. ks for 20-30 minutes straight at the top of the show and bores crowd and viewers to sleep. Goldberg: Massive ego. Squashes jobbers and occasionally talented stars if the storyline calls for it. Friends with Bischoff. Had some creative control in his WCW contract, which he may not have in WWF. Has usually quick and mindless matches, and can be carried to good matches. Injury prone. His interviews are usually a sentence or two. Is sloppy, but that could be remedied. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have Goldberg.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I never had too much of a problem with the guy, and as you all may know he won't be able to bullshit his way through the WWE as easily as he did in WCW. He can draw and be carried, and his political games are little league compared to what is already going on in the WWE. I don't see too much of a problem bringing him in. Nash would have been pushed pretty hard if he was still around, so Goldberg being in that spot doesn't piss me off too badly.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted August 20, 2002 If HHH begins a bullshit promo, and Goldberg comes out and spears the motherfucker out of one of his gay polo shirts, everyone will mark the fuck out. And I HATE Goldberg.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I personally don't see any real reason that people hate Goldberg, really. For most people, it's one of two things... 1) He ended Bret Hart's career. 2) In WCW, he is known for a streak of beating mainly nobody's. ...as for the first one, it was a 100% freak accident that happens in werstling, period, and the second, well, he was BOOKED that way. Goldberg is much more talented than what WCW would present to the fans, and Halloween Havoc '98 proved that he is capable of much more than quick squash matches in my eyes. Goldberg became a type of Hogan if you will. The fans began to get used to certain things in his matches, and ONLY those things. The little he did in those squash matches, it was enough to get him over as hell, and that is all WCW deemed neccasary for him to do in the long run. Same thing with Hogan, the fans ended up wanting to see him "Hulk Up", Big Boot, and Leg Drop, while the fans began to almost only want to see Goldberg show his intensity, Spear, and Jackhammer. Give the guy a break, and let's see how WWE will book him, if he even comes in. Who knows, he might just end up impressing us, not only in WWE, but also durring his tour of Japan. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 actually... you could hate him for refusing to work with Jericho, or constantly missing months of work due to frequent little injuries... OR you could hate him because he's a shitty wrestler who would have never had a good match if DDP hadn't held his hand through a good match.
Guest TheBlurricane Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I hate Goldberg cause of his attitude towards wrestling. As far as what he did to Bret....well there's accidents....then there's catastrophes. An accident is dropping someone on their head and giving them a stinger or something. Goldberg dropped Bret on his head twice and nearly kicked his head into the 5th row........ALL IN ONE MATCH. That my friend is just way too much danger coming from one man. It stems from the fact that he just doesn't care about the business. He goes out there and collects his paycheck. I personally hope he gets his ass handed to him in Japan and decides to never wrestle again.
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I really don't see how he can hurt the company seeing as he's still in his prime, can work if motivated and isn't a big fish in a small pond now. Goldberg isn't Vince's creation, and there is no way he will be able to squash established people like many of you think. Thinking the WWE just wants him to squash smark's favorites like Benoit, Eddy, Jericho and RVD is pure bullshit and is just a bias that isn't warranted. Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I think it would be great to see Goldberg in WWE.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 "Benoit, Eddy, Jericho and RVD " Actually...those aren't WWE guys either. These are exactly the people Goldberg would squash.
Guest TheBlurricane Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I don't think he will squash any favorites. Although when he's not squashing anyone he's pretty much useless. WCW typecast him as the guy who squashes everyone. After his streak was over he didn't do much. He got injured. He had a poor heel run. Then they tried to recreate his streak cause they realized without it he's not that great.
Guest Human Fly Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I'd rather have the Ultimate Warrior come back then Goldberg.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 HE can't do anything but squash. He usually can't (not doesn't...CAN'T) go for long...and he can't bump or sell...and he only does a couple moves correctly.
Guest TheBlurricane Report post Posted August 20, 2002 You're right BPS and that was evident in his ladder match with Scott Hall.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Who knows maybe he'll stay in Japan. He is scheduled for matches on 8/30 and 8/31. Hopefully he'll just stay home and live off his Turner fortune after this.
Guest RickyChosyu Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Goldberg is really just a shitty wrestler who benafitted from Page's style of meticulously planning out a match before hand, and then was never able to do anything woth noting afterwards. Obviously, late 2001 early 2002 WCW made it clear that Goldberg is no longer a buy rate or ratings draw, so what's the use of picking him up? HHH and him may or may not have burried the hatchet, either way, he's going to want a lot of money and then you run into the same problem that they did with the nWo where the locker room gets resentfull because some selfish fuck-wad gets payed more than them to do nothing but look scary. Bill aint worth it.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I predict Goldberg vs. D'Lo. At least we know they'll fuck each other up
Guest Jobber of the Week Report post Posted August 20, 2002 These are exactly the people Goldberg would squash. Which would leave Kurt Angle safe, thus sparing us any Anglesault manifestos. No, really. I agree with much of Blurricane's posts. I don't really care for Bret myself (do what you told us you'd do and GET. OVER. IT!!) but Goldberg views the business at about the same level as that guy who says "Wrasslin? Isn't that the thing where the sweaty guys hug and pretend to hit each other?" He doesn't care about what he's doing, he just does it and goes home rich. And a bunch of teenagers think he's some kind of big shot as a side effect. Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted August 20, 2002 I can't wait. If booked well, he'll draw a fucking fortune and the TV should be exciting as hell. P.S. Vince would be proud to read this thread, the WWF's anti-Goldberg "re-education" of 1998 is STILL working like a charm.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Why do they think Goldberg coming back will be this huge thing...for Christ sake Hall, Nash, and Hogan returning to the WWF was a far bigger story and hardly anything came of it. Bring Goldy in and job him out to Brock...cleanly
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted August 20, 2002 Why do they think Goldberg coming back will be this huge thing... Because people won't learn until the bottom of the "past successful angles" has been reached. Personally I think Goldy's blowing smoke up the asses of those that'll believe anything he says.
