Guest NoCalMike Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I don't just mean the loudest pops. I mean if the scene was supposed to be sad, then did it have people crying, in shock etc.....or if it was scary, did people jump, pull close to their mate? Remember we are talking about SINGLE SCENES, not the movie as a whole...... Here are some I can recall: American History X: The curbing scene left people in shock, everyone did the tense deep breath. Also, several girls were crying when ****SPOILER**** Danny was shot in the end. Episode II Attack of the Clones: Yoda taking out his lightsaber and fighting, probobaly had the loudest pops for a single scene I have ever heard in the theater.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 I FUCKING HATE reactions in the theatre (other than laughing at funny stuff in comedies, which is the intention). The worst is when people clap at the start or end of some dumb blockbuster like Attack of the Clones, as if they had just watched Citizen Kane or something.
Guest converge241 Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 various scenes of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back it was a week early sneak preview with rabid askew fans and everyone was going bonzo-gonzo other best reactions were Mission Impossible one (the silent break in) and after Blair Witch was over the only 2 times when ive seen an entire theater silent pindrop silent
Guest pochorenella Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Episode II Attack of the Clones: Yoda taking out his lightsaber and fighting, probobaly had the loudest pops for a single scene I have ever heard in the theater I have to agree on that one. And it happened all four times I saw the movie
Guest jimmy no nose Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 various scenes of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back it was a week early sneak preview with rabid askew fans and everyone was going bonzo-gonzo I did the same thing, it was crazy. It was kind of annoying too. Every time there would be a reference to another movie or one of his recurring themes the whole theater would go crazy. So basically every 20 seconds everyone would start screaming.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Not sure if this counts as a spoiler or not, but better safe than sorry... SPOILER When Sam. L gets it in Deep Blue Sea END SPOILER I agree with the Yoda fight scene and Blair Witch Project posts regarding movie reactions. When I worked at a theater I would enter the ending to Boogie Nights just to see the reactions from the viewers. It was funny because a good many of them thought that film was about disco or something stupid. It was great entertainment listening to the one half of a couple chew the other one out because it was their turn to pick which movie to watch...
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Yoda got the loudest pop EVER, I'd have to agree. Other than that...um...in Signs, when the kids and their uncle put on the little tin foil hats, the crowd was ROARING with laughter. That's just something recent, as movies lately haven't been all that great...
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 During Godzilla believe it or not...when he came out of Madison Square Garden they went quite batshit. Then they booed the fuck out of the ending. Awesome. I saw a theater screening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, last year or so, lots of kids who's experience with horror was limited to I Know What You Did Last Summer. Somewhat annoying in the first half as some were booing at the movie, it is a bit slow at the beginning, they establish characters and foreshadow and everything. How dare they! Anyways, when Leatherface first showed up they all gasped but Jesus when he hit Franklin in the wheelchair with the saw, EVERYONE nearly exploded from pure terror, I have never heard so much genuine fear in one area at a time, they could not contemplate the hapless cripple getting it in the face with a saw so abruptly. Awesome moment.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted August 22, 2002 Report Posted August 22, 2002 Star Trek 6: Undiscovered Country, when they blow up that ship at the end (the 'Target that explosion and fire' scene) LOTR, when Strider cuts the head off at the end. when Jay and Silent Bob showed up in Scream 3 Now, I should tell you, aside from JASB, I didn't take part in any of those incidents
Guest DARRYLXWF Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 Raiders of the Lost Arc, when Indiana finally escapes the peril of the Amazon, only to find a snake in the plane. Huge reaction there.
Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with the Yoda scene. That and the "You're gonna be the death of me" line in AOTC. Bandits at the end, when everyone figured out what was happening, got like this collective "Ooooooh" from the crowd. Pretty cool. I didn't see it, but my uncle said that when Jaws was in theaters, he used to go to just watch the people the first time the big ol' nasty came out of the water. That woulda been classic.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope, when Vader makes his first appearance.
