Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 24, 2002 I can't go tonight, my transportation backed out at the last minute. At least I didn't pre-purchase the tickets or I'd have been fucked.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 25, 2002 I ended up going, after getting the most unlikely of help (my friend's Italian teacher). Great fucking show. Best live show that I have ever been to. I lost my voice by the second match because I was cheering too loud. If you get the opportunity to see Ring of Honor, by all means do so. Best 15 dollars I've ever spent.

Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 25, 2002 Since I'm lazy I'll just copy/paste from the Observer: 1. Amazing Red beat Quiet Storm. Lots of fast action with snap suplexes, stiff kicks, and a nice flip splash dive by Red. Red wins by pin after a top rope corkscrew moonsault. 2. The SATs and Chris Devine defeated Insane Dragon, Dixie, & Brian XL Great Lucha Libre style match. Highlight was what I would call a corkscrew Asai moonsault. This match debuted some four man submission moves and a double power bomb type deal. Just great spot after great spot. No sloppy moves or sketchy offense. 3. Low Ki beat Chris Devine after being called out by Devine in a one minute squash. 4. Christopher St. Connection got the win over Marcos and Dunn. The Christopher St. connection did the gay gimmick really heavily to the point of them actually kissing in the center of the ring. Funny enough but no memorable moments workrate-wise. 5. Scoot Andrews (The Black Nature Boy) defeated Mike Tobin. Short stiff match with a decent slingshot legdrop and slingshot senton. 6. Xavier beat Scoot Andrews after being challenged at the end of the previous match. New hot move where Xavier is standing on the top ropes over the corner post, he dives towards the top rope in the middle and slingshot planchas! Also a killer 540 splash. 7. Michael Shane pinned Paul London in a really weak finnish to an otherwise great match. Highlights included a big over the top rope backdrop, London being pushed off the top of the corner into the rails that were hit so hard the seperated and sent him about halfway up the aisle. Looked like a bad crash but London got to his feet and finnished the match. A big slingshot corkscrew legdrop had Shane selling huge drawing the concern of his corner and London. When London turned to look to his corner he got rolled up for the cheap pin. 8. American Dragon and Donovan Morgan wrestled to a 15 minute draw. Two more guardrails got separated during this match when the two combatants were whipping each other into them. Coolest move was what I might call a Leg full nelson. Match started slow and built momentum as this was the longest match by far. Lots of great submission moves and near falls. Not as flashy as some of the earlier bouts but stiff and very All Japan like style. Fans chanted for the usual five more minutes but didn't get it. 9. Hit Squad defeated Carnage Crew in the "hardcore" match of the night. Barbed wire both loose and attached to boards, hub caps, chairs, and a cow bell all got used in this four way juice match. 10. Biohazard beat ?? (Maybe Rudy Gonzales??) This is the only match that I couldn't either hear the name, or get from the ring announcer after the show. Decent enough match but really short. 11. Alex Arion successfully defended his NECW title over Maverick Wild. Really good matwork early and Wild is a really good really LOUD bumper. Wild did a spot where he runs at the corner where his opponent is laid out, jumps over him into the corner and pushes himself off backwards with a lot of force onto his opponent. Looked more impressive than it sounds. 12. Natural Born Sinners defeated Former FBI members Tony Marmaluke and Little Guido. Pretty good match. On most indy shows this might have been the best match, but with the high workrate of this card, it was nothing outstanding. 13. Mark Briscoe beat his brother Jay Briscoe in a great match. These guys are really young and might not look impressive by their physiques, but in the ring they were top notch. No blown spots, very fast offense with stiff shots to the rails and corner posts, lots of near falls and inventive reversals. Jay I believe juiced, maybe hardway from the post and/or rail shots but might have been a blade job. 14. Low Ki retained his ROH title against AJ Styles. In a night where the offense was really credible, these guys stepped it up a notch. AJ Styles got a bloody nose hardway and there were more near falls than I could remember. Great kicks and chops from both guys and Low Ki pulled off his top rope corkscrew legdrop before the pin. Best match of the night in my opinion was The Briscoes match. The crowd was popping like crazy for that. The local guys (Maverick Wild vs. Alex Arion) match got the shit beat out of them by the crowd's verbal abuse. In fact, Maverick Wild got a...uh...shall we say... (blah, just think back to Bossman vs. Stasiak on heat), and was catching heat for it. When Arion went to the top I yelled really loudly "DON'T IMPALE YOURSELF!" Natural Born Sinners vs. The FBI sucked. I don't get what's so great about Little Guido or whatever his name is. Morgan/Dragon was another one of my favorite matches. Awesome shoot-style/submission stuff. The Scoot/Xavier/Tobin spiel was crap. Hated it. Funniest part was Xavier saying that he'd beat Scoot's ass in "Boston" then the crowd lashed into him with a "We're In Wakefield" chant. Hit Squad/Carnage Crew match was a terriffic brawl. The spear through the barbed wire board was SICK, and then to top it all off, the Burning Hammer by the Hit Squad was even sicker. Low Ki/Styles was really good. Really stiff kick action. You gotta hand it to Styles..he wrestled 50 minutes on Wednesday in the same style, then comes to Wakefield to do it again.

Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 26, 2002 OMG one of the best shows ever.. reminded me of when ECW first came to the Boston area, except BETTER!! best silly highlight: the dude getting yelled at by tony mamaluke..i was laughing my ass off!! if you live in New England, you have to go to the November show. Holy shit moment = London into the guadrail. Best match: tie: Dragon-Morgan and Ki-Styles Funniest moment: tie: Christopher Street Connection, and the guy from the Boogie Knights coming out in the wheelchair yelling at the fan for touching him, that he was hurt, and the fan apologizing, then he jumps out of the wheelchair and throws it. only bad part: no daniels, but everybody keeps talking about him. I liked it more than Summerslam, and I LOVED summerslam. I was going to write a review for it, but 2 matches in i said "fuck it", and just enjoyed it as a fan. Sometimes you just have to. where were you sitting if you went? i was front and center section B in the clerks-beserker t shirt. our section was pretty vocal, starting the "were in Wakefield" chant and yelling Chachi @ london and "AC Slater" @ Xaiver. did anybody see the Hardy wannabe in the crowd? my apologies if you are someone on the board who was the Hardy Wanna be, not for me making fun of it, but im very sorry for you
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 26, 2002 where were you sitting if you went? did anybody see the Hardy wannabe in the crowd? my apologies if you are someone on the board who was the Hardy Wanna be, not for me making fun of it, but im very sorry for you I sat near section C, at the way back. I also saw the Hardy wannabe. When his back was turned, a few guys in my section (the guys who started the "boner" chant) put the imaginary guns to his mouth and yodel'd. The Hardy Guy didn't seem amused.
Guest Joe_G Report post Posted August 26, 2002 Hey, I was a few rows behind Converge (if that was him in the "Fuck Your Yankee Blue Jeans Tour" shirt). Really awesome show. Great matches, and a great atmosphere too. Not a lot of indy wrestling in these parts so we were suitably torqued the whole night. I thought the Civic Center was a great place to hold a show...easy to find, convienent parking, room for a good sized crowd. Christopher Daniels is touring with Michinoku Pro in Japan, which is why he wasn't at the show. Hopefully he'll be there in November. I could have done without some of the squashes, but they were short so its no big deal. I also got tired of hearing Michael Shane/Biohazard's music the 80th time they played it (who was that band anyway? I'll go out on a limb and say...Biohazard?) I thought the best match was Briscoe/Briscoe. Some good psychology and amazing moves. I freaked when Jay pulled out the Screwdriver. Paul London took a hideous bump into the guardrail. The whole place got real quiet in a "Oh man, I hope he's not dead" way. He does look like a jacked up Chiachi tho'. "We're in Wakefield" chant was tremendous. Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 27, 2002 lol i was doing the hands/yodel thing too yes that was me. some of the music i couldnt make out, i loved Da Hit Squad's though. there were like 2 matches that could have been dropped to save a little time dropping Mortal Kombat's (BioHazard) match and the guy who was acting "crazy" (i use that loosely cause he just kinda yelled a little bit). the building and parking are great, i had never seen the place befotre and was hoping they would come to the place in Waltham where ECW used to come, but i like the ACC a lot better - there was awful parking in Waltham. i was pissed they didnt have a credit card terminal to buy tickets for the next show/for all merchandise. Why not say on your website "hey bring some cash - were selling tickets to the next show". Oh well maybe they were waiting to see if it sold out. Briscoes was another great match another great moment was Michael Shane "hurting" his knee - I felt like a sucker, especially when "Don Muraco" came to check on him. could anybody see if they guy who got yelled at by Tony was crying? I swear he was..
Guest converge241 Report post Posted August 27, 2002 lol a pic of the "hardy dude" hardy dude and a killer AJ shot Bloody Styles from ringofhonor.com
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 27, 2002 That arena was awesome. We get there, they ask if we need tickets, we buy them, then they let people in. We were the first to go in the arena. Parking was nice too! We parked right in front under a 1 hour parking sign. The local guys sucked. A lot. Bio-Hazard also sucked. And was it just me, or did Red get the pop of the night? Everyone just went ballistic for him, he got an even bigger pop than Low Ki. When Shane hurt his knee, me and my friends started a "ROB CONWAY" chant.
