Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted August 22, 2002 I woke up extra early to listen to Kurt on Stern, and he appears for exactly 3 minutes. He talked about the Dave Schultz murder, and uh...that's it. He hung up because he needed to get tough on angina. Dammit, I got like 3 hours of sleep and now will be up for the rest of the day. DAMN YOU ANGLE!

Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Warren Beatty was the worst guest ever and there's no fuckin' way that Kurt Angle could even APPROACH that depth in the course of 3 minutes.

I thought he could have made a decent guest, not an outstanding one. He said absolutely nothing. When Kurt is given the time and open forum, he can be an outstanding guest. He has been in studio with Opie and Anthony, on more than one occasion. But then again, O & A are actual fans of the WWE and give their guests freedom. They just don't ask every guest that they have whether or not they've had anal sex for twenty minutes. OpieAnthony.com

Guest notJames Report post Posted August 22, 2002 It probably would have come off better if he was in the studio. Call-in guests are pretty lame on Howard's show, unless you're Stephen Baldwin... Speaking of O&A, my friend Kevin who hosts PPV parties every month does some work on their show. I think they call him Big Kev, 'cuz he's not exactly a size 4. He's always bringing back WW_ stuff, like an autographed Angle photo, XFL hats, a picture of him with HHH. I don't listen to the show 'cuz I'm either at work, on the train going home from work, or just don't want to listen to an afternoon Howard impersonator. Have any of you guys ever heard Big Kev on the show?

Have any of you guys ever heard Big Kev on the show? First of all, they're NOT Stern impersonators. Their show has a feel all its own. Just because a show happens to be a stream of consciousness comedy show, doesN"T mean it's ripping off Stern. Anyway, back to your question. Occasionally Big Kev can be heard on their show. The last time I heard him was the day the last Austin Powers movie came out. He called in with a quick review.
Guest jester Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Did anyone actually think Angle would make an outstanding guest on the Howard Stern show? If he given Stern a German suplex or two, sure. Unfortunately we'd only get to hear it.
Guest notJames Report post Posted August 22, 2002 ...they're NOT Stern impersonators. Their show has a feel all its own. Just because a show happens to be a stream of consciousness comedy show, doesN"T mean it's ripping off Stern... Sorry, didn't mean to step on any toes. I guess having listened to Howard for so long, everything else seems like a pale comparison. And no, I doubt I'll actually listen to the O&A show. I outgrew Howard's brand of comedy after his divorce. Now shows like that just seem kinda played out and boring. It's like Howard himself said; there's a certain mentality you need when you listen to his show. Sooner or later, most people grow out of it. I guess I grew out of it. No offense to fans of either Howard or O&A, of course.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Didn't O&A do some stupid thing where a couple had sex in St.Patrick's Cathedral. Stern hasn't been the same since the divorce, "F Jackie" left and that hack Artie Lange took over, and Stern became a Hollywood Ass-Kisser.

Guest Blackston Report post Posted August 22, 2002 As of a couple days ago, O + E were taken off of the air. They did a stunt where a couple had sex in St. Andrew's Cathedral, and the Catholics got into an uproar.
Guest Madmartigan21 Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Didn't O&A do some stupid thing where a couple had sex in St.Patrick's Cathedral. They have an annual "Sex for Sam" contest, where couples attemept to have sex in various locations throughout NYC, with each location worth a certain amount of points. If anal is involved, they get a "two point conversion". The couple with the most points at the end of an almost three hour period wins. The prize is a trip to an annual event at the Sam Adams brewery in Boston. Jim Cook, president of Sam Adams, was in the studio during the contest. There are spotters assigned to each couple to verfiy that sex is actually going on. The first year they did it, a member of their show(Psycho Mark), was fired because he had his couple go into the station's general manager's office. Yes, the two point conversion was successful. This year the contest did indeed result in a couple having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral. The couple was arrested and so was their spotter, comedian Paul Mercurio. Incidentally, Paul was kicked out of the broadway production of "The Graduate", for standing up and yelling, "Hey Kathleen put your GOD DAMN clothes back on!", during Kathleen Turner's nude scene. That was also for the O & A show. They've been playing best-of's all this week. And their general manager as well as their program director have been suspended. This is a result of the station's lawyers dealing with the possible actions to be taken by the FCC. I was going to list some links for more news info. But when reading through them, I was quite surprised to see how many basic facts were incorrect. For instance I saw Paul Mercurio cited as a producer of the O&A show, when he is fact nothing more than an occasional guest. Other stories said the contest was a regular feature. That is misleading because they only do it ONCE A YEAR. Another article said it was unclear what the prize for the contest was, even though they plugged it for weeks. How hard is to do the slightest bit of accurate research? I have to wonder what else is wrong with these articles. I gues Mick Foley was right. The real world IS faker than pro wrestling. Ah... screw it. Here are some links with more info, shoddy research and all. Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted August 22, 2002 O&A rule the school but Ron & Fez are better...I like the caller interaction and bits more, though I haven't been tuned in to either show all summer...and why did Don & Mike leave the NY market? Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Opie and Anthony are nothing special, they probably won't be back on WNEW or whereever they are, I hear them on WCKG-FM in Chicago. (cheap plug)
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 22, 2002 O and E got fired today, so no, they won't be back unless another station hires them, which I doubt will happen anytime soon. Give it a while to die down and someone will pick em back up..
Guest undisputedjericho Report post Posted August 23, 2002 So now what is WNEW going to play? Since June they've had R&F and O&A best-of's running in the former 10-3 Don & Mike spot. Now they have the 3-7 block empty, so they basically have two shows, Sports with Farrell from 6-10 and R&F from 7-11. Then Loveline from 11-1, 1-3, and 3-5 (5-6 best of Farrell) but that's on a one day tape delay from KROQ in LA and WNEW never mentions it (The only show I've listened to in quite some time cause of my schedule)
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted August 23, 2002 Well my favorite newsman Walter Jacobson says WNEW might get their license revoked by our pals at the FCC, so maybe they won't be playing anything.
