More on Survivor Series

Evryone seems to say Survivor Series is a very lacking PPV. Some years agree with that statemen,t but some go higher and become great shows.

Below are the ones i beleieve are the best, worst, and the most average.

BEST: Survivor Series 1990

Hate to say why, cause this was the first PPV that i have slight remembernce of. It had 5 great Survivor Matches 7 1 Jobber one, plusit had the one time omly Survivors Match, and lets not forget, the begining of the decade of destruction.

Favorite Moment: The Undertakers first entrance.

WORST: Survivor Series 1998

Why? First, it had the tournament, yes it does fit with survivor mode, but atleest coulda made it a 8 man tounry with some 4 on 4 style matches. Plus non tounry matches were either ** or less, as good as the Tourny Matches.

Favorite Moment: Sables BUTT shots and thats it (yes, i am a pervert, im a pervert-o-holic.)

MOST AVERAGE: Survivor Seris 1996

2 Decent-Good Survivors Matches, 3 steller 1 on 1 matches, including Bret/Austin 1. Only problem ws the cheap SSeries match with savio, yoko, funk ,snuka vs, vader, fiesel, fakor, and Faarooq. What happend? Wouldnt job? We also got a jobber series match on the free for all that was slight entertaining.

Honurable Mention:

Survivor Series 1995

Survivor Series 1993

Survivor Series 1988

(these were ones i remmember, 1987, 1989, 1991, 1992 and 1997 i dont remember oh dislike to remember)

Dude your going to get flamed for the Survivor Series 1990 being the best. SS 90 is a guilty pleasure I find the opener entertaining, Dusty's team Vs Dibiase's team is pretty good and  The rest just kind of suck from a wrestling standpoint. Although the Ultimate Survival Match was pretty fuckin cool.

Best: I'd say 1992's Survivor Series you've got something for the marks( Kamala- Undertaker, Nailz- Bossman), something for the smarts(HBK Vs. Bret Hart) and something for every WWF fan at the time( Savage-Perfect Vs. Flair- Ramon). It's a good solid show, nothing groundbreaking just a good show.

Worst: I'd probably have to say 1997, a forgettable undercard, a uninspired Austin- Owen Hart "brawl" and the Montreal Screwjob. All I can remember from this show besides the screwjob was Austin winning the IC belt and Kane squashing Mankind.

Average: 1995 Survivor Series, could have been the best Survivor Series but a few unecessary filler matches killed the crowd and the viewer's interest. The opening match, Hart Vs. Diesel and the wildcard matches were all good, hell even the women's survivor series match was ***(The problem was the crowd was dead cause they didn't know who 5 out of 8 them were). But matches like Bigalow-Golddust and Undertaker's team- Lawler's team just were boring and in Taker's team- Lawler's team Wrestlecraptastic.(I think everyone except the captains on each team are on Wrestlecrap in some form)

I haven't seen all of them but my picks...

Best: SURVIVOR SERIES '96

Awesome show, with a classic Austin-Hart match, an excellent SS match between the Furnas Brothers/someone else an Owen & Bulldog/Godwinns (I think) and the unbelievable title match between Sid and Shawn, with the crowd so FIRMLY behind Sid its funny.

Worst: SURVIVOR SERIES '91

The opening match was fun and it's always a good thing to see Hogan jobbing, but the whole PPV was basically an advertisement for "Tuesday In Texas."

Most Average: Eh...Probably '93 or 94.  I remember I dug the title match from 94 and the first match from '93, but that's about it for each.

I'm also going to say the best Survivor Series is 1996. The worst is Survivor Series 1991. Good opening match, nice to see Hogan lose, but like it's been said. The PPV was there just to push "This Tuesday in Texas".

I chose 1990 as my favorite cause it had some good matches, not GREAT, but really, survivor series never had a series of **** or ***** matches on the same card. Also, it was centimental favorite, ebing the first Survivor Series i watched. I coulda sworn UT match was first, but eh. Im not surprised anyone liked 1997. The Canada vs. USA woulda been good if it had the Patriot and not Blackman and someone other then goldust. The DOA/TCommision blew, and the Nation/shamrock,ashmed, lod was ok. Other was, toss.

One of my favorites is the 1990 one. Mostly b/c of the grand finale match and the Dibease/hart part. Some of the booking didn't make sense(Rockers, p&g go to the finals) but It was pretty good. I also liked both the 87 and 88 tag matches b/c there was non-stop action. I used to wish the team wouldn't be elimated if one guy got pinned but it would take WAY too long if that happened. Those both are pretty good too.

I haven't seen all of them, but here are my picks anyway.

Best-96. Bret vs. Austin was a classic, plus there was a pretty good HBK match where he lost the title to Sid and a good Survivor Series match between Furnas & Lafon and the GOdwins vs. Owen & Bulldog vs. the New Rockers. Add the debut of Rocky Maivia to the card and you've got a very good show.

Average-95. Bret vs. Diesel was a good Main event and the wildcard match was decent but everything else was lacking.

Worst-99. They didn't deliver the advertised main event, due to Austin getting run over by Rikishi, which leads to the Big Show taking Austin's place and winning the title. Plus, the undercard wasn't that hot either. Although Kurt Angle's debut was something that wrestling fans are going to be talking about for a long time.

Best: 1987 because of the workrate and the lack of screwjob eliminations, with the exception of Hogan and Honkytonk Man, both of whom it was expected of.

2nd Best: 1992 for Bret-HBK and the Macho-Perfect vs. Razor-Flair matches.

Worst: 2000 because of the lack of quality matches and Steph's halfassed booking (Double Doink in Angle's title match, HHH being dropped from a forklift)

Take into consideration that I've only seen SS 87, 88, 92, and 97 through 2001.

Guest DEEP THOUGHT

After having seen every WWF Survivor Series PPV numerous times, my list should be fairly accurate. In contrast to SummerSlam (which is almost always a great PPV), Survivor Series tends to be one of the weaker PPVs

BEST

1996 - Best by far. Terrific opener with the debut of Furnas and Lafone, Mind-Blowingly great match between Bret/Austin and one of my personal favourtie matches of all time, Sid vs. Shawn Michaels.

1995 - I would call this one second best. A terrific, vastly underrated opener with non stop action, decent but brief womens match, and what I regard as Kevin Nash's best WWF match in the main event.

1987 - Great all around. Fantastic 20 man survivor series match is a must see. The womens match is great too.

WORST

1997 - Just looking at the subtitle of this event -- "Gang Warz" is an indication of how bad this event was. Billy Gunn getting the win in the opening match by missing a legdrop from the top by about three feet, Kurrgan winning his match by pinning all 4 opponents with the sidewalk slam, and of course the infamous screwjob.

1990 - Unlike the 1989 event (which had 20+ minute matches), the matches and eliminations were all speed up here for the pointless debut of the Gobbly-Gooker and the meaningless "grand finale match of survival". Curt Hennig's bumps and the Dibiase/Hart segment couldn't save this show.

1998 - With all the three minute matches, this was like watching a three hour edition of Raw. A pointless tournament because the Rock would lose the title just weeks later.

Other "bad" ones.. 1989, 1991, 1999, 2000

AVERAGE

1992 - Match of the show was the "main event".. the tag match between Flair & Ramon vs. Savage and Perfect. The Bret/Shawn bout, much like their Ironman match, is very overrated, but still good. The rest of the card is forgettable, but watchable.

1994 - Two fun elimination matches and a great old school 40 minute affair between Bret Hart and Bob Backlund. Backlund's celebration when he regains the title is classic; it's a shame the camera wasn't kept on him the entire time.

Other "average" ones... 1988, 1993, 2001

I actually enjoyed WWF Survivor Series 2001 and I thought the main event was good.

Thanks.
