Guest Si82 Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 I was wondering what albums you guys thought get better with everY listen. I would have to say "Automatic For The People" by R.E.M. and "Is This It" by The Strokes. I didn't really like that album at first but it really has grown on me as time goes by. I'm going to go listen to it.

Guest mesepher Posted August 23, 2002 Report Posted August 23, 2002 OMG someone here besides me likes Dream Theater?!?!?! Any band that can play one song for 45 minutes is amazing. actually, quite a few of us like Dream Theater.
Guest La Parka Es Mi Papa Posted August 24, 2002 Report Posted August 24, 2002 The only album that seems to get better every time I hear it is Alice In Chian's Dirt.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted August 24, 2002 Report Posted August 24, 2002 I like some Dream Theater...haven't heard a lot of it. And I'll nominate Iron Maiden's "The X-Factor". It doesn't sound as good as Maiden's other stuff on first listen (Probably because of Bayley - He takes a little getting used to when you're used to Bruce) but it's grown on me to the point that it's one of my favourite albums by anyone.
Guest JaKyL25 Posted August 24, 2002 Report Posted August 24, 2002 White Blood Cells--The White Stripes Anything by Radiohead Third Eye Blind--Third Eye Blind And props to the person who mentioned ...Trail of Dead earlier in the thread. I absolutely love half of the songs on "Source Tags & Codes." The other half I just find decent, but the good stuff makes the album worth it!

Guest godthedog Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 i have a hard time thinking of albums i love that DON'T get better with familiarity. very seldom will i love an album from the very first listen. most times i listened to beatles albums the first time, i'd fall asleep. they'd take weeks to get used to. same with hendrix, the pixies, and especially ween.
Guest Kinetic Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 I don't think I've ever really liked an album the first time I heard it. I usually get an idea that I'll eventually like it, but there have been times when I absolutely don't get an album until I've heard it five or six times. Case in point: Elvis Costello's Get Happy!. I thought it basically sounded like the same song over and over again. It's gone on to be my absolute favorite Costello album, bar none. As far as the actual topic...the last two Wilco albums have yet to get old to me.
