Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 23, 2002 Every notice how much the network Music Television and the World Wrestling Federation have in common? Here I am clicking through the channels on tv, just to see whats on at this hour and what do I find on the TV Guide Channel? An all day complete showing of the series of Tough Enough MTV. Then all of sudden it hits me, I ask myself where is the music videos? Why are they showing The Real World Wrestling on MTV? Then the voices in my head gets loud and says its because it get advertments, its the hotest thing on tv, its what the people want.....the very important demo 18-35. And I though the people want to see Carson Daly drool over the girl pop stars, on TRL. I was both excited and angy that MTV is having WWF programming. I was happy to see wrestling in any form...well at least somebody in a ring running the ropes, then I realized that WWF has been watered down with the "success" of Real World concept. The "reality" of wrestling made its way over to the parent show of Raw is War. With the continuous or should I say non-continous use of the storyline being the focus of the show. As Kevin Nash said "What ever happened to our little rastling show?" on attempt #384 of the invasion angle in WCW during the New Blood era. So I again ask where is my wrestling? Watching NWA Wildside and other indy shows on the lame UHF channel is not enough.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I see your point. MTV sucks, (unlike MTV X on my digital cable that plays nothing but rock videos.) I think it was in the Hacksaw interview where he said it's no longer wrestling but a show ABOUT wrestling. And that hits a nerve. Its like watching a bad comedy/soap opera about wrestlers and as part of the show they have wrestling matches to supplement the story. I like sports entertainment as much as the next guy, but I miss having an alternative like WCW (pre-99 where wrestling was the focus) to tune into. It's because they have WRITERS and not BOOKERS. Stephanie Mcmahon with the help of Hollywood writers who have brought us some of the worst sitcoms ever are booking her own little fantasy soap opera world. It's a shame wrestling people aren't in charge.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I know, Would it be that hard to assemble this little group of Bookers... Arn Anderson Pat Patterson Vince McMahon Sgt. Slughter and Dave Hebner 5 guys that know wrestling?
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted February 24, 2002 There is ONE difference between the WWF and MTV. At least the WWF plays videos from time to time (ie "My Sacrafice," "Highway to Hell," etc.). Granted the videos shill wrestlers or PPVs, but hey, at least they play music. He never drools over any of the sexy, sexy ladies with videos on that show. I mean ... really.
Guest Army Eye Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Carson Daly is the gayest man on television.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Is it too much to ask for at least 1hour of wrestling on Raw is War? Or even a match that did not have a: 1) run in 2) DQ 3) a non-finish 4) cheating to win

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 25, 2002 Big thumbs-up to chirs3 for the Empire Records joke. Hmm...since I grew out of MTV and listen to mostly music that would never be played on MTV, will I now stop watching the WWF and watch nothing but Puro and indies? I hope not... Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 25, 2002 well your options is MuchMusic which is Canadian or you can watch the Spanish networks!!!! XM radio? As for wrestling is AmericaOne really the only option, if you don't live near the big city? boy bands = spot wrestling?
Guest buffybeast Report post Posted February 25, 2002 MuchMusic sucks, IMHO. MTV plays videos, usually overnight and very early in the morning. I tend to watch MTV2 for videos only. WWF is trying to reach a mainstream audience by having very little matches and long promos. For a while that formula seemed to work.
