Quantum Leap coming to DVD

Recommended Posts

The last time I posted some news from DVD Review (the new Dogma disc), it turned out to be false. So take this with a grain of salt.

Oh, Boy. Quantum Leap on DVD.

August 22, 2002

The floodgates are open. Releasing television series on home video was completely unpractical six years ago, but the convenience of DVD has showed studios that fans will buy up television programming on DVD. As many television shows have been announced over the last month or so, it appears that a great deal more are coming. Universal Studios Home Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Warner Brothers Home Video and Paramount Home Entertainment have all recently announced commitment to television on DVD. One of the first new series coming from this announcement is the science fiction drama Quantum Leap due in 2003.

Before Scott Bacula traveled through space as the captain of the Enterprise, he traveled through time as Sam Beckett, a scientist who discovered the ability to leap through time, from person to person, within his own lifetime. Along with his friend Al, who appeared to Sam as a hologram from the future, Sam used the ability not for personal gain, but to help fix other’s lives which had gone astray.

Although the pilot of this series is out there on a discontinued DVD, it looks like the rest of the series will follow. Although no information is available on prices, specs, or features. Information on the show and likely many other popular series will be coming down the pipeline soon.

Alright, I saw EVERY show of Quantum Leap...begaining to end. Then the final episode came on...and the fucking cable went out 20 minutes in. I have NEVER seen the last episode and have no idea what happened. PLEEEAASSSEEE!!! Tell me what Happened. All I can remember is Sam leaping into some guy at a coal miners hangout or something like that.

SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>

He found out he was the one leaping himself around...and that he hadn't leapt home yet because he had something to finish.

So...

He lept back to tell Al's first wife that Al would be coming home...which he refused to do the episode before he leaped into himself and tried to save his own family...then to Vietnam to try and save his brother (OR as I like to call them...the BEST EPISODES EVER!!!!!)

After that it goes black and says that Al and his wife stayed together and lived happily ever after...

and that Sam never returned home.

Cliff notes version:

Sam had a chance to either leap home, or leap into Al and save his marriage to Lisa. He chose the latter.

Al's life changed dramatically for the better. Sam never made it home.

Wow, nine years since "Mirror Image" was broadcast and you never found out what happened?

IMO, you're better off not knowing because it's a little depressing and very confusing. People discuss it to this very day because the episode was so vague and it brought up more questions than it answered.

Here's a summary of the episode (but for some reason, it doesn't cover the final, poignant, yet depressing part):
