Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 24, 2002 The following is from Dave Meltzer... In the fan voting to decide Masahiro Chono's opponent for the 10/14 Tokyo Dome show, the two leading vote getters as of yesterday were Joanie Laurer with 3,335 votes and Kazuyuki Fujita with 3,257 votes. Neither would make for a very good match but Laurer would be a disaster. ...I am not even going to comment. Sincerely, ...Downhome...
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 24, 2002 That match is just wrong on so many levels. Even the other match Inoki is proposing for Chono for the dome (Chono vs Yasuda) is a recipe for negative star affair. I think it's safe to say Inoki doesn't know what the fuck he is doing. Suggesting Masahiro fucking Chono face Joanie Laurer. PLEASE!

Suggesting Masahiro fucking Chono face Joanie Laurer. PLEASE! I am not all that learned in the history of NJPW or Inoki, so answer me this. Has he had a history of coming up with outlandish things like this, or is this some sort of new "dirrection"?
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 24, 2002 I think that the best bet would be Chono-Fujita. From the reports of G1 final, the Inoki Army-NJ/T2000 fight seems to be a hot feud, but I'll wait till I see the video. Chono-Yasuda would suck quite a bit. Guest Downhome Report post Posted August 24, 2002 I just came across this, so make of it what you will... "Chyna is just ahead of Kazuyuki Fujita, in first place of the internet voting to decide Masahiro Chono's (who dyed his hair blonde; see the Picture of the Day) 10/14 Tokyo Dome opponent. However, Chono left no doubt that would absolutely not have a match with Chyna." -Ichiban Puroresu ...hmmm.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 24, 2002 I think that there could be worse things than a Chono-Chyna match. Like this...
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted August 24, 2002 You know the worst part of it? Chono and another official wanted to promote either a rematch with Misawa or a match against Kobashi, but Inoki is insistent on sticking either Yasuda or Laurer in there instead. Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted August 24, 2002 Would they ever consider putting Chyna over? Cause then the WWE doesn't look too bad.
Guest pete Report post Posted August 27, 2002 Help. Ever since Inoki got into his shooter fettish N.J has had these problems. This was a big reason behind why Muto and company left to go to A.J. The thought of Chyna is horrid. All of this started when they were negotiating with Shamrock in 96 to bring him in to face Hashimoto at a Dome show. He signed with the WWF and they brough Ogawa in instead whoe hates to job. But my god Chyna, horrid.
Guest PlatypusFool Report post Posted August 27, 2002 I don't really care about this, it's just one match that will be effected by all this after all. The fact is that NJPW has been absolutely great recently, with the overall match quality apparently almost the best its ever been up and down the cards. So, one poor match doesn't bother me too much, and it will be heated at least, especially if the fans voted for it to happen.
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted August 28, 2002 Joanie Laurer vs Masahiro Chono... *imagines slow motion footage of a Yakuza Kick by Chono* *gets a goofy yet sadistic grin on his face* Oh it'd still suck, especially with one performer (Chono) being absolutely against the singles match. If they're serious about taking the fan voting into account, I'd figure that they'd rig the voting if TAFKA Chyna wins it and make Fujita his 10/14 opponent. Then again Inoki-ism is still runnin' wild, so I'm still ready to cry bloody tears come October.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted August 28, 2002 I for one would not completely dread this match. Laurer has had some good matches; not many, but a few. And Chono's style is that of a guy who can sometimes make chicken salad out of chickenshit. I'd wait to see it before passing judgement. (Although I'd MUCH rather have the proposed Kobashi match.) Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted August 28, 2002 The fact of the matter is that women do not draw big money in wrestling in Japan when its for a mens promotion (I don't watch Joshi so I can't comment on their drawing). So Chono vs A Woman wrestler would draw about as well as Chono vs Doink the Clown. Chono vs Kobashi would draw as well as Sasaki vs Kawada did two years ago (sell out). Inoki's problem is that he has trouble seperating what's good for NJ from What would Antonio Inoki like to see on his shows? Hence: Tadao Yasuda as IWGP Champion. If Chono vs Chyna is the match then he better put togehter a VERY good undercard show.
Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted August 28, 2002 If we get Chono/Kobashi at 10/14, I'm all over it!
Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted September 6, 2002 I lifted these pics from a post from Ripclawe over at the A1wrestling forum(The purist forum archives there have some great discussions). I can't decide which is more disgraceful, Chyna fighting men or Goldberg squashing the future of the sport.

Guest cynicalprofit Report post Posted September 7, 2002 It will be a great match *bell rings* Chono and TAFKA Chyna come together right in the middle of the ring, TAFKA Chyna swings and Chono takes it like a man, Chono then punches TAFKA Chyna right in the face, breaking 8-12 facial bones and the matches ends in an astonshing 6 seconds. TAFKA Chyna needs to get MORE reconstructive surgery, but alas it will be of no good cause she will still look like a he. Sounds great to me to have Chono scare TAFKA Chyna away from wrestling forever.
Guest J*ingus Report post Posted September 9, 2002 I think everyone is missing the REALLY important story here... Chono's hair is gray. Fucking GRAY. What the hell?!
