Kurt Cobain's suicide. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix all dying in 1970. Even giant corporations ignoring genuinely talented and great bands in favor of "product" consumed by teenage mallrats with their parents' disposable income. And somehow, Lars Ulrich suing Napster becomes the single "lowest point in music history"? Maybe it's my jaded nature, or the fact that I'm a Metallica fan that I have a slight problem with this. Or maybe it's because I never saw the appeal of MP3s and kept buying CDs from stores. Or maybe it was getting chewed out by a bunch of elitist office workers in a chatroom the day after the lawsuit became public knowledge when they were acting like this was a major problem equal to losing their homes or families, and all I did was mention "It is money out of their pockets when someone downloads a Metallica MP3 instead of buying the record from the store!" Sorry to rant, but that is a pretty sensitive topic with me. -Ben

For a music festival that is supposed to be about peace and music, yikes. I wouldn't say Metallica vs Napster... but maybe when Metallica actually sued their fans. Now granted, fans is used lightly, since a real fan would already have the albums...
Guest Incandenza Posted August 25, 2002 Report Posted August 25, 2002 All of those choices are lousy. For instance, you can complain about today's popular music scene, but if you really think it's that bad, you can search out good music. It exists, you just have to know where to find it.
