Guest SlowChemical6 Report post Posted August 25, 2002 One of the popular discussions around here as of late has been wrestling T-shirts. Unfortunately, this is the message that I have picked up from this discussion: The best wrestling T-shirts are the shirts that conceal the fact that you watch pro wrestling, and if you own a shirt that screams pro wrestling, you probably shouldn't wear it out in public. What is this? 1950? These are the same people who tore Jim Rome an asshole, and they are scared to wear a WWE T-shirt out in public. Why would you wear a WWE T-shirt unless you wanted to advertise the fact that you are a wrestling fan? And why should you feel guilty or ashamed about your hobby? Skaters wear skater shirts, basketball fans wear basketball jerseys, surfers wear surfer shirts, music fans wear T-shirts of their favorite bands...why should we be any different? I wear tons of WWE T-shirts out in public, and I don't give a flying fuck what anybody thinks. If they don't like wrestling, they can kiss my ass. Am I such a pussy that I'm going to let other people dictate what I can wear and what I can't wear? Hell no. I love pro wrestling, I'm proud of it, and I'm not such a little bitch that I have to wear an Abercrombie shirt over my Austin 3:16 shirt. Give me a T-shirt that says "I WATCH THE WWE" in big fucking neon letters and I'll wear it. Besides, wrestling shirts look cool. Anybody who is ashamed to let other people know that they watch pro wrestling shouldn't even watch. They shouldn't be on this board. They should go watch Melrose Place on Monday nights, just like everybody else. Because it's all about doing what other people want, right? Fuck the closet fans. Rant over. Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted August 25, 2002 It doesn't matter what I'm a fan of, if it looks shitty I won't wear it. That goes for jerseys, band T-shirts, everything.
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted August 25, 2002 AMEN! Besides if somebody says "Wrestling is fake! Why do you watch it!?" I respond with a huge smarmy smile and say "It's not fake...it's staged. There's a difference pal." Nothing gets people madder...you just have to be as condescending as possible. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted August 25, 2002 I love it when I wear that old school Y2J shirt and people rag on me for being a wrestling fan and then I point to the T-Shirt... "Would You PLEASE Shut The Hell Up?"
Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted August 25, 2002 Holy shit, calm the fuck down and shut the fuck up. First you flame puro marks and now people who refuse to wear shitty t-shirts. You're making yourself look like a total ass, which I don't suppose you care about either. The best wrestling T-shirts are the shirts that conceal the fact that you watch pro wrestling, and if you own a shirt that screams pro wrestling, you probably shouldn't wear it out in public. Why would you wear a WWE T-shirt unless you wanted to advertise the fact that you are a wrestling fan? And why should you feel guilty or ashamed about your hobby? These shirts are great because you want to advertise the fact that you're a wrestling fan to other wrestling fans, not the entire world. Sorta like a secret code between fellow wrestling fans, you understand? Sorry if you haven't noticed, but wrestling fans have a bad reputation in the general public. Now I'm glad you're unashamed, and I'm sure a lot of people respect you for your ability to freely prance around in your "I WATCH WWE" shirt. I wish we could all be as comfortable as you, but those of us who give half a shit about what people think about us (and if you look at yourself in the mirror before you leave the house, you do) are not. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted August 25, 2002 I think you have to pick your fights when it comes to being a wrestling fan. Generally, if I am in an 'unfamiliar situation', say going to a party with people I don't know, or a bar, or just in a situation where first impressions count, I don't want that impression to be 'wrestling fan', since even in Canada, in todays society wrestling and wrestling fans are frowned upon as being 'unsophisticaed red-neck goofs who hoot and holler at big breasted women and say 'hell yeah' a lot. It's just not understood. And the product that Mcmahon puts out, I am not very proud of... I would wear a Puro shirt though... Simply for the obscurity and inherant coolness factor... and support..i guess. I don't blame fans for being 'closet wrestling fans', it's more of wrestlings fault that theirs.. Guest Brian Report post Posted August 25, 2002 I've always thought that the shirts that don't scream wrestling fan tend to llok better as a whole.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted August 25, 2002 The ONLY shirt I've ever really wanted to buy was kaientai's 'evil' shirt.
Guest TheRockIsTheEuropeanChampion Report post Posted August 25, 2002 I've always thought that the shirts that don't scream wrestling fan tend to look better as a whole. Exactly, especially when it comes to the shirts WWE makes. I'd like to get a La Parka t-shirt, but... that's one of the few t-shirts with a wrestler's picture on it that I would wear. I certainly won't wear an ugly WWE t-shirt in public.. I don't like wearing them around the house. Eh.
