Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 What a coincidence that the 25,000 show happened to fall on Sunday night. Does anyone else think that the anchors think there the stars when really Sportscenter has really good highlights and stories.
Guest alkeiper Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 It's pretty much self-gratification, though its kinda cool to see 80s Sportscenter clips once in a while. The best part of course is the classic sports.
Guest Angle is Wrestling Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Why does ESPN do this stuff? They hype up bullshit like 25K and the ESPY's yet, nobody watches. Here's the reason..NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT ALL THIS EXTRA STUFF ESPN DOES. People tune in to see sports highlights, I dont think anyone cares if it's the 25th show or the 25,000th show.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Why does ESPN think anyone cares what some hack celebrity thinks was the greatest moment on ESPN.
Guest alkeiper Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Because its a good excuse to show said moment.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 I think a better way would be to just show like a 15 minute to half hour clip of the "moments" of the last 25K shows. Probably would have gone off better. The show is so brutally bad at 11PM what with Dan Patrick, that I only watch the Bottomline once and go to bed. The 6PM show has Kenny Mayne usually, so I'll watch that.
Guest Redhawk Posted August 26, 2002 Report Posted August 26, 2002 Why does ESPN think anyone cares what some hack celebrity thinks was the greatest moment on ESPN. I didn't really get that either. Who cares what Billy Crystal and Robin Williams think about sports? If they were gonna do the "Favorite Moments," why not just have different Sportscenter anchors talk about their favorite moments? That would have made more sense, since they were celebrating Sportscenter. Or better yet, give the production people some shine and let them pontificate on their favorite moments. Besides that, they REALLY should have shown the entire Ray Ramano/Sportscenter skit from SNL. That was funny as hell.
Guest OctoberBlood Posted August 27, 2002 Report Posted August 27, 2002 I haven't watched a Full Sportscenter in a long time. For Baseball, I only tune in to Baseball Tonight on ESPN at 10 and midnight. But, during the day, or whatever, I just tune to ESPNNews if I wanna see clips and news updates. Like I said, its been a long time since I've watched a full Sportscenter, so I don't really care how many shows they've done.
Guest Some Guy Posted August 27, 2002 Report Posted August 27, 2002 I generally check out SC every night, but couldn't care less how many shows they've done. Christ it's on 10 times a day or something so 25K isn't too impressive anyway. I only saw ten minutes of the big SC and it pissed me off because I had to sit through Robin Williams not being funny (as usual) while jerking off Barry Bonds and Carson fucking Daly of all people showing up every five minutes. I turned it off.
Guest Strike Force! Posted August 27, 2002 Report Posted August 27, 2002 I'll be catching Sportscenter a lot more during football season so I'll see how much it has changed since my summer hiatus.
Guest Some Guy Posted August 27, 2002 Report Posted August 27, 2002 It really hasn't changed, it was just that one show that bothered me.
