Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 26, 2002 Let's get this party started... Comic-Related Stuff on the Dubya-Bee - The Kids' WB! Saturday morning lineup is as follows: 08:00 Yu-Gi-Oh! 08:30 What's New Scooby-Doo 09:00 Jackie Chan Adventures 09:30 Ozzy & Drix 10:00 Pokemon: Master Quest 10:30 ¡Mucha Lucha! 11:00 Yu-Gi-Oh! 11:30 X-Men: Evolution Um, the AOL/Time Warner people DO know that not all anime is good, right? (ComicsContinuum.com) - Birds of Prey is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, Oct 9 at 9pm ET on the WB with a 70 min premiere called "Pilot". Fucking brilliant name. BTW, this puts it up against the new Twilight Zone. (ComicsContinuum.com) Ultimate News - "Goodbye, Transformers; hope you enjoyed your stay at #1, you f**kers" - Mark Millar The reason Millar is saying this is because in December, Marvel is releasing an Ultimate X-Men vs. The Ultimates limited-series written by Millar and drawn by Chris Bachalo. Let's hope that Bachalo's motivated. Ultimate Daredevil/Elektra is a four-issue mini-series written by Greg Rucka and illustrated by Salvador Larroca to be released in November. Apparently it's focusing more on Elektra, but we'll see. Check out this interview with Rucka, and pray that he doesn't go with the biker leather for DD. (Newsarama @ ViewAskew) Movie News - Speaking of Daredevil, Movie Poop Shoot has an interview with Jon Favreau, who plays Foggy Nelson in the movie. - The X2 clip from the San Diego Comiccon is available at X-Men-The-Movie.com. I didn't realize that the babealicious Kelly Hu was in the movie, but she plays Yuriko Oyama (Deathstrike?). (ComicsContinuum.com) - ADV Films, which is making a Lady Death OAV movie will apparently issue a statement with regards to it's status. Since Chaos! went Chapter 7, ownership of Lady Death could end up anywhere, which probably means that the movie will end up on hold for now. (ComicsContinuum.com) I don't expect ADV to buy the rights to Lady Death - after all, they're an animation company. I also can't imagine that anyone would really care that much about a "bad girl" anymore. So look for Rob Liefeld to buy the rights to Lady Death. - Because Batman vs Superman got put back into development hell, Batman: Year One rumours are now being spread. The newest one from Variety is that Marilyn Manson is in talks to play The Scarecrow. (DarkHorizons.com). Was the Scarecrow even IN Year One? Can Marilyn Manson act? Is Variety reading Wizard's "Casting Call" feature and reporting it as fact? - Dark Horizons has a link to a review of the new Harry Potter movie by Harry "The Shill" Knowles. The link can be found in the news update for Aug 22. Books - The official Star Wars site is reporting that they will re-release the Attack of the Clones novelization by R.A. Salvatore this fall to coincide with the release of the DVD, and George Lucas' continuing need to milk every cent he can out of Star Wars fans. The re-release is a hardcover, with a "bargain" price of $14.99US, $23.00CDN and a new cover by David Stevenson. You can see an image of the cover here. I'm just guessing here, but I'd say that that big-ass "collector's edition" seal doesn't come off. - This week sees the release of the final installment of Terry Brooks' "Voyage of the Jerle Shannara" trilogy, "Morgawr", as well as a 25th anniversary single volume book of the original Shannara trilogy. On his official site, you can order the books and get them e-signed. (terrybrooks.net) Let me know if you want me to report news on other authors/series as well... In Brief - Ben Yee of bwtf.com has a review of Transformers Armada #1 - Free Comic Book Day 2 is a go, and will come sometime in 2003. (Newsarama @ ViewAskew) - Devil's Due is shuffling their artists around. Kevin Sharpe is taking over G.I.Joe as of issue #11, with Steve Kurth moving to Micronauts and a miniseries, Karza, which will be written by Jim Kreuger. Which I think is great, since I could care less about both Kurth's artwork and the Micronauts. (ImageComics.com) - This is old news for all you JMS/B5 marks, but new to me. Warner Brothers is releasing a DVD Box Set of Babylon 5's first season, retailing at an almost ST:TNG-hefty $99.95, or $2,532+GST in Canadian dollars. DVD File has the information you crave. - Marvel has a 9-page dotComics preview of Ultimate Adventures on their website - And finally, Movie Poop Shoot looks at what happened to the Earth 920 Bruce Banner when he absorbed massive amounts of gamma radiation... Guest areacode212 Report post Posted August 30, 2002 Great news report Starvenger. Heh, that's a great quote from Millar. And I can't believe they're putting up BoP against Twilight Zone. What's this about B vs. S being put back into development hell? I thought it was a go.
