Sports faces....

Recommended Posts

Guest Strike Force!

To get things started:

Garrison Hearst

St. Louis Cardinals (even though I'm a Cubs fan)

Emmitt Smith

Curt Schilling

Sammy Sosa

Steve Yzerman (even though I'm an Avs fan)

Any more out there? I know this is harder because it's easier to know who we don't like than who we like.

Raymond Bourque - not many cities would welcome the trade of their star premier player just so he could taste victory.

Wayne Gretzky - because he's Wayne fucking Gretzky, dammit.

Steve Yzerman - class act by all accounts

Steve Nash - other than this year, he's ALWAYS stepped up to play for Canada when asked.0

Jerome Williams - because the guy isn't really offensively talented, but he always works hard on defence, always has a smile on his ugly mug, AND he sucks up to the crowd.

Andre Agassi - pulled the face turn at Wimbelton one year and has been a favourite ever since.

Michael Chang - Because it's fun to see the Asian guy win.

And whoever is playing Greg Rusedski when he's in Canada.

Dale Murphy. He would never shoot a commercial unless he actually liked the product.

Curt Schilling.

As a native Bostonian, I have a slightly amusing story about Ray Bourque.

Yeah, he's a really nice guy, and it was good to see him with the Cup, however, his superstar lifestyle has spoiled his kids huge.

My younger brother went to hockey camps with his oldest son, and he told me that Chris (I think that's his name) Bourque is a bratty, bigoted, full-on asshole.

He got in his face a couple of times, insulting him, and even asking something along the lines of "what religion are you, loser." (Jewish, as I've said before) so after they went to the locker room, my brother absolutely destroyed him in a fight, bloodying his lip. The coaches, who could have stopped them, were very amused.

Yes, my brother beat the shit out of Ray Bourque's son. I'm so proud.

Avery Johnson is the little Point Guard that could in the NBA, when he was with the Spurs, he would always be the one on evening news talking the good talk with that Southern accent of his.

David Robinson and Sean Elliot were always making public appearances for librarys or schools.

Taco Cabana has the best fajitas in town as Sean Elliot would shrill.

It seems that the only bad person ever to play basketball in San Antonio was Dennis Rodman.

The Minnesota Twins are baby faces, they went from a poorly attended crappy baseball team, to an excellent baseball team with improving attendance and they fought back to try and keep there team alive if those guys aren't baby faces I don't know what team is.

Vladimir Guerrero is a baby face cause he refuses to sell out to the bigger teams despite playing on a okay at best baseball team that sells less then 15,000 seats a night.

The media loves Michael Jordan. The fans love to watch Michael Jordan, he's everywhere, done everything, always gives interviews and is always gracious in the interviews...I'm talking overall here, over the span of his whole career. I think people were always trying to find the "big" story on Jordan so the the rest of the media could condemn him, but he always found a way around those things and is still the most popular star in sports today(don't get me wrong, I rooted against the guy constantly, I'm a Celtics fan) and people in general, overall love Michael Jordan, thus he is a face in my book, unlike someone, like Dennis Rodman...

Athletes are a bunch of fakes and phoney's.

Almost eveyone one them either is an asshole. a drunk, a druggie, or cheats or abuses their wife or girlfriend.

Sorry to be so negative, but I've seen to many athletes act like great guys when in fact there jerks. Kirby Puckett is the best example.

Not that some aren't nice sometimes but you've almost got to be a jerk or egonmaniac to become an athlete.

On the contrary, I'd say most athletes are nice guys, but the media never reports about how a guy hasn't done anything wrong.

I'd add Scott Brosius to the list. I hate the Yankees, but here's a guy who had a chance to pick up $5 mil a year, and walked away.

Tim Burke- also walked away from baseball to spend time with his family

Dave Dravecky- was one of baseball's most famous comeback stories, and has since lost his left arm entirely to cancer. Hard not to root for him.

Whose to say they don't hide if an alleged nice guy is really jerk. You never heard about Puckett or Micheal Jordan's womanizing until there wifes filed or planned on filing for divorce.

Sosa turned heel in my eyes during the Homerun Derby when he threw his bat down and walked away.

I think Sosa is slowly turning heel, even though I really like the guy.

Also, all athletes having to be jerks or egomaniacs?.....this is so wrong and offbase I don't know where to begin.

Why is it off base. These guys are making more money in a year than alot of us will make your entire lives. That much money changes people if you really don't think they develop an attitude your kidding yourself. Some guys are better than others but if I was making 10 million a year my ego would skyrocket.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't for a majority of athletes.

It's all a matter of opinion, but McGwire is a heel in my eyes. Self-serving, abrasive, aloof prick. I've heard some fan and media "horror" stories.

It doesn't mean that it does either. There's really no way to gauge it because it's all subjective.
