Guest Brian Report post Posted August 26, 2002 SmackDown is the show right now. It’s the show that features most of the younger talent and is built around wrestling. They have the wrestling bookers, Hayes and Heyman. They put over the new guys, build around the new guys, allowing talented wrestlers to shine. So why does the seemingly green Brock Lesnar end up on SmackDown? Simple. It’s all about Heyman. Steph, for some reason or another, trusts Heyman. And Lesnar on RAW was failing. One minute they’re booking him strong and the next he needs interference to win. It wasn’t just that he couldn’t get a veteran to put him over; he couldn’t get to go over mid-carders to go over him clean. That changed when he got to SmackDown. He got to go over Hogan clean. He was booked to long stronger. Heyman got a hand in helping his on-air character and his storyline client. When Lesnar beat Hogan, he turned a corner. How often does the bearhug get as over as it was, as a legitimate threat. And even more sensibly, Rock was being booked to get his ribs bashed. Suddenly, Rock has more vulnerability and Lesnar has more ammo to beat people from. Lesnar looked much stronger in the last month than he has in the previous two. They edited down a video package to feature him. And the booking of the pay per view match, with the effectiveness of Heyman being depleted as the match went along further emphasized Lesnar’s ability. The point is that if Heyman succeeds with Lesnar he will have a lot of leverage with his booking. And as of last night it seems that RVD will be jumping to SmackDown. Could this be just what they needed? RVD gets fresh match-ups and a chance to shine; Heyman gets his boy. And if Heyman succeeds with Lesnar, will he get the chance to do the same with RVD? Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 26, 2002 No. Heyman succeeded because the WWF WANTED him to succeed. They WANTED Brock as the number one heel. They do NOT want RVD as the number one face.
Guest Brian Report post Posted August 27, 2002 Yeah, but to have that much confidence and invest that much faith in Heyman after their other bookers failed does mean something.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted August 27, 2002 If I went in there and said "I'll hekp make Brock the number one heel and Edge the number one face" they'd hire me.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted August 27, 2002 Two things: 1. RVD didn't end up jumping...DAMMIT 2. Brock wasn't in Nassau Coliseum anymore...and was no longer over enough to stake any kind of claim on #1 heel...especially with Angle being Angle. Damn...I wasn't sure I wanted RVD to jump...but I realize he should have. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
