Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 25, 2002 No Way Out 2001- awesome show that I liked a little more than WMX7. Backlash 2000- Scotty 2 Hottyvs. Malenko is one of my personal faves. Malenko performed that same Top rope DDT on Jericho from Nitro in SA when I watched it live. Plus the heat was amazing and it proves he cruisers can get over. Summerslam 98- I enjoyed this show and actually was the show that turnned me away from WCW once and for all when in the same month, WCW put on the pitiful Road Wild 98 ppv. No Way Out 2000- Hell In a Cell!!! Also had a solid undercard. summerslam 2001- I enjoyed the hell out of his show except for Booker losing to Rock. The rest was solid. summerslam 97- I like this show alot too. I like the cage match more than most. Owen-Austin rocks until the fuck-up and I thought Bret carried Taker to a great match. Buried Alive- It's not the best wrestling but everything was energetic. hhh-austin and mero-goldust were both solid. The main was great until the goimmick and bad special effects kicked in. A guilty pleasure.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 25, 2002 I'll throw some out there...not in order: Summerslam 93 (a forgoten classic!) Royal Rumble 2000 Judgment Day 2000 Fully Loaded 2000 No Mercy 2000 No Way Out 2001 WrestleMAnia 17 Summerslam 2001
Guest CaptRiker Report post Posted February 25, 2002 hmm what was classic about Summerslam 1993? Apart from the Steiners-Heavenly Bodies match which I love to this day. I think its hard for me to pick just one best pay per view from the 90s but I think from the year 2001, Wrestlemania X-7 was head and shoulders above the other 11 that year. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 25, 2002 No Way Out 2001 was the best ppv of 2001 IMO. I skipped out of the 90's after SummerSlam 93....which I only listed because it was the first ppv I really enjoyed. Funnily enough it was also the first ppv after Hogan was gone for good (well...at least 9 years). hmmm.....
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 25, 2002 Yeah, I voted for No Way Out 2001 as ppv of the year. somewhere on this board, I listed my reasoning too. As for Canadien Stampede, I enjoyed the first two matches. vader-UT was terribly boring and the main had great heat but it was not a great match. I think people like to look at it with rose colored glasses. Watch it again and you'll realize it was special but not great wrestling. Summerslam 93 ,i've never seen but it is next on my hitlist. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 25, 2002 Keep in mind that WWF ppvs weren't so great back then...but there is some really good stuff here. DiBiase's last ever match (he'd been suffering through injuries) and it was decent (vs. Ramon) Heavenly Bodies vs. Steiners was AWESOME. Perfect vs. Micheals was a little disapoinint...but certainly not bad IRS vs. 1-2-3 kid was decent (but I'm a rotundo mark...) The Bret HArt/Doink/Lawler matches are great. The Smoking Gunns & Tatanka vs. Bam Bam & Headshrinkers put on a surprisingly really good match Even Luger vs. Yoko is decent. Of course Ludvig Borga vs. Jannetty is crap...and UT vs. Gonzales is worse... But the show gets a thumbs up from me.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 25, 2002 It actually sounds solid. don't get me wrong, I'm familiar with the quality of shows from the time frame. just for whatever reason, i haven't picked it up yet. Another ppv I really enjoyed was Summerslam 92. Throw out the Nailz match and the UT-Kimala fiasco and there is another great ppv. And I can't believe I left out Rumble 2000. Once again, Foley-HHH bring the pain. The undercard was great and if you look closely Mae Young is wearing a prosthetic chest. It's not her real tits!!!!!
