WWE RAW WORKRATE REPORT 8/26/02

Well this wasn’t horrible, just kind of blandly competent. If they can have Raw’s that are semi-watch able good PPV’s and great Smackdowns I gots no complaints

 

What Worked

 

-Booker T v. Christian was pretty good if not a little short. I dug the old schoolness of that tag match last night, although Lance Storm has been sucking ass lately, I honestly thought outside of Taker he was the worst worker on the entire PPV. They should just dump him and replace him with someone like Johnny Swinger, he is Canadian right? They have a whole promotion full of Gen-X Long Haired Christian Canadians they should really get one of the other ones to be in the cheap heat brigade.

 

-I am amused as Chris Harvard attempts to assassinate Hyman Roth. I would assume that most of us had the period in college where we hit on the girl solely to go where no man has gone before, and I enjoy the date rapist frat boy persona alot more then just repeating how he went to Harvard over and over. He is still vanilla as hell in the ring though, match was decent although Regal really needs to jump to Smackdown where he has guys he can work with.

 

-Jericho and Jeff Hardy was pretty long for a TV match to the point where it almost seemed too long. They had some nice spots, but the filler stuff was pretty dull. They should have tried some different stuff. Maybe if Jericho had worked on a leg or something, that body part stuff is the new hip thing in the WWE. This match just needed something to break it out, both guys are pretty good, so maybe a rematch will bring it out.

 

-I really enjoyed the Dreamer v. Van Damn match. Dreamer bumped like it was 1995 and RVD is better then Brian Lee. They really need to keep RVD in these types of matches, cause he can’t wrestle or anything. Dreamer freaking ruled it in this, and I hope they find him something to do. That ladder chin bump was choice.

 

What Didn’t Work

 

-I bet Snuka was pissed when he got to the locker room and found that Waltman was gone. I wonder who he scored off of? Beating up a cokeheaded murderer is a weird way to get heel heat, are they going to punk out Rae Carruth next?

 

-Well I don’t have Chris Beniot, Eddie Guerrerro or Matt Hardy anymore, but at least I get the comedy stylings of Kane. I mean you can’t even see him do Robert Gibsons lazy eye with that mask on. Also if you are going to burn the flag, burn the flag you pussies.

 

-That Evening gown thing was better then Tuxedo match with Fink v. Harvey Whippleman, but not as good as the evening gown match between Patterson and Briscoe which had a nice bump or two. Both get smoked by Hogan and Okerland v. Fuji and Muraco.

 

-HHH and Undertaker was really dull. Both guys suck, although I did perversely enjoy them race to undercut Lesner. If I was him I would only go to Smackdown too, nobody on that show is smart enough to fuck you over like HHH or Taker. Although Hulkster is biding his time, trust me.
