Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Just got back from tonight's house show in Buffalo. Opening match: Lance Storm vs. Edge Storm got a fairly small amount of heat, and Edge got a good pop. The match was pretty good too. The crowd started off dead during Storm's portion of controlling the match, and when Edge started coming back the crowd got hot...so Storm cut him off and finally got MAJOR heat. From that point on the crowd was into it. After about 8 minutes or so, Edge got the spear and slapped on that standing figure 4 thing for the submission. Good match Match #2 Mr. Perfect vs. RVD It wsa supposed to be Regal vs. RVD, but I consider this an upgrade. Perfect got as bad a reaction as Storm did. The crowd went nuts for RVD. Perfect and Van Dam traded some of there pattented moves for a couple minutes (chops, spinkicks, flip over neck snap thing that Perfect does, Rolling thunder) The crowd was all over RVD chants. RVD went for the monkey flip in the corner but Perfect countered and put his feet on the top rope to get the pin. It came out of nowhere and I swear I thought the pepole in my section were going to riot. Match was short...but it had a good ending. That's what they should have done with Perfect on Raw...instead of jobbing to Kane. (He got the most heat of the night after the match...and he started with nothing.) Match #3 Chuck & Billy vs. Albert and Scotty 2 Hotty Ugh. Huck got a hait cut. It looks bad. No more pig tails for Chucky. Scotty & Albert got an Edge sized pop...Chuck a Billy got almost nothing. Stalling followed by attempted comedy after WAY to long of this it finally turned into a match...if you've EVER seen these 4 wrestle, you know what it looked like. Anyway...Billy pinned Scotty with the famasser. Then they danced anyway. Match #4 DDP vs. Christian Christian's music triggered a face pop...then he talked on the mic and got real good heat. He said that he was coming out of retirement to win the European title...DDP came out to less of a pop than Christian got...which surprised me. MAtch was pretty good. Christian hit some good moves...and if it weren't a house show, I would have thought he would have won on a few occasions. DDP gets the Diamond Cutter to a modest pop...and the pin. Temper Tantrum follows for Christian. Match #5 Booker T vs. Rikishi Booker got a face pop that slowly turned into heat for no apparent reason. Rikishi got a big pop...for no apparent reason. Standard match from these 2. Funny part when Rikishi fell in the corner and Booker signaled that he was going to give Rikishi the stink face. It didn't happen...Rikishi did do it to Booker good pop there...Then he pinned Booker with the Banzai drop. Everyone EXCEPT the WWF would consider that an upset. Match #6 Kurt Angle vs. HHH Angle got great heat. HHH's pop: I've figured it out, now that I've sat in the arena for it. His initaial pop for his music was smaller than the RVD pop... Then HHH milks it for several minutes. The pop starts to fade from the music...so he comes out of the enterance way. The pop starts to fade from that...he poses...the pop starts to fade from that...he does the spit water thing...the pop fades, he poses in the ring. So he has the LONGEST pop...but not the biggest...RVD's was bigger...he just doesn't have forever to stand around and collect it. That's why RVD's matches always start with a huge RVD chant...the crowd isn't finished cheering for him. Don't get me wrong. HHH got a huge pop. But it was the 3rd biggest (Loud wise) of the night. RVD was #2. On to the match: back and forth...inside and out...standard RAW match. I saw HHH run for the first time (after Angle tried to leave) So at least he's trying now. I think he's not as a fraid of reinjury anymore, as he didn't favor his leg here. They trade anklelocks to some good pops, and then HHH hit the pedigree for the clean pin. I'd say it was like 10 minutes or so. Not as bad as No Way Out was, not as good as the match on Raw. Intermission Flair comes out. Good but not great pop (proving how much Buffalo sucks) Some idiots even tried to start What?ing him. Thankfully it didn't get over. Flair cuts his standard "This city is the greatest..." promo. and is interrupted by Perfect (who still has heat from beating RVD.) Perfect tells Flair that he's not perfect. Flair kicks his ass. RVD comes out and hits the ***** frog splash and Flair counts the 3 for a HUGE pop. The match, and this follow up were a very good idea. Crowd ate it up. Match #7 Hardys & lita vs. Dudleys & Stacy (intergender) Everyone got a big pop in this match. Stacy said she was injured and was replaced by Jazz (who actually got a decent pop herself) Match was the most exciting of the night and it was very good too. We all know what they do...Jazz and Lita put on a good show (I actually think that this womens match wouldn't suck.) The crowd was into everything. It's not very often that I like a Hardys match...but they did something good today: They built up to there high impact stuff slowly...and it paid off when they hit it. Litacanranna on Bubba takes him out of the picture...Matt hit the twist of fate on Jazz, then Lita hit the moonsault for the pin. Good stuff. Match #8 ANGLESAULT WILL HATE THIS VERY MUCH: Kane vs. Test Test got nothing. Literally...maybe one or two token boos...but almost dead silence. Kane got a huge pop. Slow. Boring. Let me get this straight: The card has Edge/Storm, RVD/Perfect, DDP/Christian and HHH/Angle, and this match is second last? Match sucked. WARNING TO ANGLESAULT: THIS IS GONNA HURT: Eventually, the ref is bumped and Kane hits the chokeslam. Angle runs in (thus confirming it will be Angle vs. Kane at Mania, after Smackdown too...) Angleslam on Kane...Ref comes to and counts Test the winner! Heat for Angle...Test even got some for winning! So to recap for Anglesault: Angle lost clean to HHH, did a run in on Kane (WrestleMAnia baby) and caused Test to not only win...but get heat too! Not a good show for Anglesault. Main Event: Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall Hall was with Nash and they got a face pop that was just about the same as HHH...a little lower to sink them at #4 pop. Austin got the biggest pop of the night. Hall wrestled in his Wolfpac colors. His tights say Hall on the front, and Kliq on the back. He is noticelbly fatter...but not really like in the gut fatter, He still has his muscles...they just all have fat on them. Kind of weird. He needs to die his hair and thin it out...or cut it...or something. Austin controlled the beginning. Hall took control on the outside and a little inside. Then Austin took over again. A total brawl. Since Hall only really controlled on the Outside it was kind of a squash. Hall didn't look that bad in the ring, either...which was a nice surprise. After 10 minutes, maybe less...ref goes down and Nash comes in. Stunner on both for the pin. Austin celebrates afterwards...I didn't stick around to see if he taunted Hall or not. The match between Austin and Hall at Mania might work after all. It doesn't look like Hall is too far away from being able to deliver. If this match had had any point where it seemed that Hall could win...or some near falls either way...I think Mania will be a good match. So that's that: Biggest pops: 1. Austin 2. RVD 3. HHH 4. Hall & Nash 5. Rikishi or Hardys Biggest Heat: 1. Perfect (after the match) 2. Angle 3. Storm (during match) that's it...Buffalo doesn't do heels.
Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 WOW! I'm kinda surprised Mr. Perfect beat RVD. I find it cool Perfect was in a WWF ring with Ric Flair. I wonder if the WWF would ever re-start a feud between those two. Remember Perfect beat Flair on Raw in 1993 to send Flair out of the WWF.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I'm telling you...when Perfect pinned RVD the place went crazy. Total shocker. They HAVE to do that on TV... The heat stuck through the night...it's worth trying on TV.
Guest The Electrifyer Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Damn, that looked liked a pretty sweet card. I would have loved to see Perfect vs. RVD and see Hall wrestle.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 It was pretty good for a house show. The card changed 4 times...but ended up being a very good one. Here's my ranking of the matches: 9. Kane vs. Test (what else...Test blew his big boot spot TWICE!) 8. Booker T vs. Rikishi 7. Albert & Scotty vs. Chuck a Billy 6. Austin vs. Hall (brawls do little for me) 5. RVD vs. Perfect (it was so short) 4. HHH vs. Angle 3. DDP vs. Christian 2. Hardys & Lita vs. Dudleys & Jazz 1. Edge vs. Storm
Guest mykatissatan Report post Posted February 24, 2002 If they have Perfect/RVD at either show this week then me and my friends that are going will cream ourselves. Well maybe not.....but it will be cool to see.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Perfect wasn't on the card...so when his music hit for him to wrestle, I marked out (which I generally don't do in public) Then RVD's music hit and I marked out again. 2 of my all time favorites in one match! This was my Rock vs. Hogan! Then Perfect won and I marked out for a 3rd time. Completely unexpected. Then they had a blow off later with Flair and I marked out for a 4th time (Flair, Hennig & RVD in one ring, this was too much for my markish heart...which I like to keep buried at all times.) Guest Army Eye Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Nice report, thanks. That RVD/Perfect ending sounds great.. I'd like to see that on TV too. Maybe they'll start a feud that way and take it to Wrestlemania. Or is that the optimist in me thinking Perfect will get to fight at Wrestlemania at all.. Christian coming out of retirement to try and win the European title That is too funny. I hope he says that on Raw if he's on it.
Guest Jimmy Report post Posted February 24, 2002 That sounds like a great show to me.I would love to see a Mr.Perfect-RVD fued.
Guest joshicho Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Maybe Hall will be fine for Wrestlemania after all. I'm hoping he is.
Guest Flair5000 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Thanks for the report, bps. Sounds pretty good, apart from Booker having to job to f'n Rikishi. Interesting what you said about him starting with face pop and it turning. HHH's entrances are pretty ridiculous, longer than some matches.
Guest oldschoolhero Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Political and drinking bullshit aside, Hall is the best member of the nWo by FAR. It seems that backstage he's led through the politica dealings by Nash, and I'm never gonna jump on someone's back for a problem such as alcoholism. So yeah, I'm quite fond of Hall. I'm also waaaay looking forward to Austin/Hall at Mania, but they've GOTTA build up Hall some for it to have any heat. Have him go over Rocky, or van Dam, and of course the obvious "pin Austin in a tag match" route. They've gott aget him some heat before sacrificing him to the Almighty Steve. Guest Risk Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I would have liked Booker vs. Fatu(No way I'm calling him THEIR name...) if it wasn't for that stupid fucking stink face. That move is the Anti-Christ of wrestling!
Guest Flair5000 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 The stink face has been overused so much. The problems is, it's the only thing about Rikishi that is even vaguely over, so he'll keep using it.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 There was a guy sitting behind me who was a complete heel mark. I mean...rooting for Storm over Edge is one thing...but cheering for Test and Chuck a Billy? Unexceptable. Anyway...he was yelling out anti face remarks all show...and one of them made me laugh my ass off. When Rikishi's music stopped and the arena was quiet again...he yelled out: "MAKE A DIFFERENCE RIKISHI!" Classic. Also I saw on pretty good sign: "WWA ppv tomorrow at 8" That made me laugh. Guest AM The Kid Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Sounds awesome, I really hope there is a chance that RVD and Perfect have a fued. 200th post!!!
Guest One Bad Apple Report post Posted February 25, 2002 Christian's music triggered a face pop...then he talked on the mic and got real good heat. He said that he was coming out of retirement to win the European title...DDP came out to less of a pop than Christian got...which surprised me. Cheering Christian? That's pretty odd! It didn't happen...Rikishi did do it to Booker good pop there...Then he pinned Booker with the Banzai drop. Everyone EXCEPT the WWF would consider that an upset. The WWF doesn't consider anything below the level of someone like Val Venis pinning the Rock an upset. HHH's pop: I've figured it out, now that I've sat in the arena for it. His initaial pop for his music was smaller than the RVD pop... Then HHH milks it for several minutes. The pop starts to fade from the music...so he comes out of the enterance way. So he has the LONGEST pop...but not the biggest...RVD's was bigger...he just doesn't have forever to stand around and collect it. Well, the crowd wouldn't pop for his stupid poses unless they liked him. So HHH tries to make up for getting smaller pops than RVD by playing to the crowd to get longer ones? Okay. Flair comes out. Good but not great pop (proving how much Buffalo sucks) Some idiots even tried to start What?ing him. Thankfully it didn't get over. Yeah, how dare they don't cheer enough for someone you like. And if yelling "WHAT?!" at him offended you so much, why didn't you call the, idiots to their faces? If they weren't close enough to ya, you could have done it to the people that didn't go crazy as soon as Flair's music hit. Everyone got a big pop in this match. Stacy said she was injured and was replaced by Jazz (who actually got a decent pop herself) Now they're cheering for Jazz?! I mean ... I love her and all, but I didn't think anyone else really cared about her. Matt hit the twist of fate on Jazz, then Lita hit the moonsault for the pin. Good stuff. I don't know how on earth the announcers can justify the constant woman-attacking of the Hardy Boyz, who must do it more than anyone else on the roster. Stacy's on the apron, trying to distract Jeff? Twist of Fate for her! And a Swanton Bomb, too ... just for good measure! Not a good show for Anglesault. I don't like him much.
