Guest MaskedDanger Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Sorry if this is a repost, but I haven't seen it discussed anyone in the forum yet. On the old board there was a lot of speculation as to what this much ballyhooed new move would be when Kobashi returned to the ring (I was hoping on a kind of crucifix piledriver, myself) and what affect it would have on his ring style. I don't get a chance to follow puro up to the minute (just don't have the time) so I was wondering (a) if Kobashi has returned yet (b) if so, what shape is he in--most agree that the prognosis doesn't look good, © if he's used the Diamondhead yet and (d) what the hell kind of move is it. Any response would be appreciated.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I don't think he's used it yet, it'll be on of 3/1 show, I think, if he makes it. you can't do a crucifix piledriver. You either mean a double underhook piledriver or a crucifix powerbomb set up, realease and caught into a piledriver. I think it will be Thesz's real Ganso Bomb AKA Original Powerbomb AKA Throwing piledriver. Set up as a regular piledriver, throw the opp. straight down onto their head, attacker stays standing and keeps the wasit lock Clip at http://www.geocities.com/d_59uk/clips/ It's the GansoBomb.mepg SCD is the Storm Cradle Driver And ElevatedScorpion is a elevated scorpion deathlock with double chickenwing. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 24, 2002 "Well, Kobashi returned on the 17th if I'm not mistaken, but was re-injured in the match. " I heard he performed pretty well in the match but didn't know he was injured. Can anyone confirm this?
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 I'm not sure if it was a work or not. The info is that he's reinjuried his knee. He has a hole in it, aparently. I'm not sure.
Guest MaskedDanger Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Yeah, I've since read about Kobashi's return some. He re-damaged the knee; this time its something to do with one of the ligaments he's already had surgically repaired (surgery on it five times in one year the article said...yeesh) is giving him trouble, basically poking a hole through his knee as Dace said. The article also said that the culprit seemed to be a kick to the knee that...Yagata (if I remember right) gave him. Kobashi's supposedly fighting the doctor's orders to take more time off within an inch of his life; he's begging to stay on the tour, saying that a few weeks rest is all he needs. A few weeks rest to cure a hole in his knees...heh. Oh, and Dace, a crucifix powerbomb set-up caught into a pile driver is exactly what I meant by a "crucifix piledriver." I was just being lazy and taking a naming shortcut. Sorry for the confusion. By the way, do you know anyone who uses that move (or something like it)? I know it's off topic, but I'm just curious. And I've seen the Ganso Bomb video; do you really think Kobashi will really use it, and, if so, will it be in its original neckbreaking glory or will it be watered down some? I just can't see someone allowing him to just whip that out in a match just to polish some guy off.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Ok about the Crucifix piledriver, I dunno if anyone's has used it, moves are my thing, not the users. As far as the Ganso Bomb goes, some Tag Team in the 70's used the Double Reversal Spot (Called the Hangman's DDT in WWF video games) as a finisher, it's only been seen planned (I think it was planned anyway) in that famous match, powerbomb to rana to veritcal sheer drop powerbomb. The clip on the site (mine) is of Aztecta (SP?) who uses it (Lou Thesz's one off botched piledrive that looked like a throwing one, which became the first ever powerbomb) I don't know if anyone else uses it, or if we'll see that version. At the end of that day, it's my idae, not a fact, we'll have to wait and see.
Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 Also, forgot to say, I prefer Thesz's version to Kawada's spot one, looks better too me, less flash, more power. There's a hell of a differnce between the two ganso bombs, which is what some people don't know.
Guest I Like WDI Report post Posted August 22, 2002 The clip on the site (mine) is of Aztecta (SP?) who uses it (Lou Thesz's one off botched piledrive that looked like a throwing one, which became the first ever powerbomb) I'm pretty sure that's a fuck-up. If you look at it, he kinda looks at his opponent in a "Oh crap, are you OK?" kinda way after he performs it. And it is Azteca, IIRC.
Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted August 22, 2002 According to Brandon Thurston at Ichiban Puroresu the Diamondhead is like a thunder fire powerbomb.

There's a hell of a differnce between the two ganso bombs, which is what some people don't know. I too prefer the Thesz version, cause it looks more like a Powerbomb. Though I don't think theres that much of a difference, Kawada's is just kneeling and has more of a driving than throwing motion. However my fav. Vertical Sheerdrop Powerbomb is Megumi Kudo's Kneeling Thunderfire one. That is the right name isn't? I wish I had a clip of that one.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 22, 2002 Megumi Kudo's Kneeling Thunderfire one was that during the retirement match against Combat Toyoda?

Guest Dace59 Report post Posted August 23, 2002 Some sort of Sheer Drop Fire Thunder Powerbomb could work. Look at the pic Rolling Chop posted, that sort of set up. Then just let them hang and them drived them down. What brought this back to life anyway?
Guest AnnieEclectic Report post Posted October 6, 2002 Yeah it was the Deathmatch with Toyoda. I love that DVD. Then again I love Megumi Kudo.... But the sickle to the head causing Kudo to bleed from the head (see my sig banner) is sick. ... I wish I could be more on topic but that's as close as I can get. -Annie
