Guest pete Report post Posted August 28, 2002 Right now the WWE is at a turning point. In 1994, 1995 and 1996 The WCW hired a lot of the WWF Main eventers. This caused a big hole at the top of the WWE card. There answer create new superstars.(i.e the new generation) It took about 2-3 years to develope these superstars. Where did they get these stars, they got a lot of them from the midcard(Rock,HHH,NAO) and some from the WCW midcard scrap heap(Foley,Austin) and some they had already on top Michaels, Hart, and the Undertaker They booked these undercard strong with the intention to get them over. Michaels did the job for Austin, Hart worked with the Rock, Undertaker put over Foley, Michaels gave HHH the rub, and the LOD put over the NAO. Now lets look at todays midcarders Jericho, Benoit,Guerrero, Booker-T, RVD, etc. These guys are not being elevated. Benoit and Guerrero had been off T.V for over a year. What did they do to Benoit? They jobbed him out on his first 2 ppv shots. Did he have good matches? The answer is yes. Guerrero when he first came back he beat RVD. That is fine except that he jobbed to him on a high profile match on RAW, This does nothing to elevate either one of them. The same thing happened with Benoit. He beat RVD and then did the job for him a few weeks later: result no one gets elevated. Booker-T is being booked just as bad. First there giving him a push against the NWO, This is high profile cool.(except its against Show and X-Pac) A few weeks later he jobs to Benoit in a #1 contenders match for the I.C title. Good match yes. Results Booker-T did the job for the jobbers. Kurt Angle has gotten a solid push. Except when they don't know what to do with him and they book him like a buffoon. Jericho gets his legs cut out from him every chance they get. I have never seen the World champ booked so poorly going into Wrstlemania(some push). He walked Stephs dog for christ sakes. People say what about Lesnar. I say too early to tell. WWE you must elevate the midcard now. You are doing what WCW did in the mid 90's by bringing different talent to headline(Michaels,NWO, Flair and on going talks with Goldberg.) You have got to elevate the midcard. People have invested in them.
Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted August 28, 2002 They were at a turning point in Summer 2000 and they STILL flat-out refused to elevate anyone, so there's no reason (except for a belief in optimism) to think that they will this time.
Guest alfdogg Report post Posted August 28, 2002 Vince: so pete, what do you have for me today? pete: Well, I had this great idea used to elevate new stars... Vince: GET THE HELL OUT OF MY OFFICE!!! NOW!!!
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted August 28, 2002 I think the key to solving all the problems is to replace Ross and Steph's positions with Johnny Ace and Paul Heyman. Seriously, if your head of talent relations is firing Mike Sanders and Jason Jett, but thinks that a big bald hick in copper hot pants should move up on the roster, well then you need a new head of talent relations. Guest IB2BLACK Report post Posted August 28, 2002 "if your head of talent relations is firing Mike Sanders and Jason Jett" I can't figure this "net" love for Sanders. What has he ever done? Besides having decent mic skills.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted August 28, 2002 guys, the fed IS elevating new talent. didn't you see the main event at summerslam? plenty of fresh guys (lesnar, cena, nowinski, nidia, knoble, moore, bautista, mysterio, etc) are getting air time & being made to look good. most people on the board just don't recognize this though, because a) they don't think the right people are being elevated, and b ) many times they're elevated at the expense of our favorite guys (mostly angle, jericho & rock, even though, since they're some of the best workers, they're in the best position to actually make somebody look good). Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted August 29, 2002 The thing is, they aren't pushing the people who ARE over the biggest which is what they SHOULD do. Sure, they're pushing people NOW, but they're not the right people (Brock, Edge) because they're NOT over enough and that's all there is too it. They're making all the wrong moves. Imagine in 1998 if Vince pushed Val Venis to the main event instead of The Rock....
