Today I donated Plasma

Recommended Posts

I needed some extra cash and my friend donates plasma so I thought I would give it a try. I am doing a good thing and getting paid for it. It's like hitting two birds with one stone! The bad things about it is that the needle is huge and it took like 45 minutes to do it. The doctor told me that everyone gets used to the needles and they have no problem with it after a few times so I am considering of becoming a donar. He said that you get marks on your arms after doing it for a while. Anybody here donate plasma?

Hey! My mother works at one of those places! Was it a ZLB and/or Nabi you went to?

You get $20 or so, but you're only allowed to do it three times a week or something. Mother says my veins are perfect for it. Fuck any needles getting into me though.

Fo sheez,

I've heard horror stories about the horse-sized needles they use at those places. It's said to be just a step above the hell one goes through at a STD testing clinic. No thank you.

I've donated blood (out of the goodness of my heart of course, although next week due to a special promotion I'll get a pint of ice cream for my pint of blood) several times before, but never plasma. If there's a place nearby when I go to college though, if I can't find a job or get in on a work study program I'd consider it. I'm not afraid of needles, and since I'm a materialistic person who must constantly buy new DVDs and CDs... I'd rather have tons of holes in me and the opportunity to take my friends (and maybe new girlfriend?) to a new movie than stay broke and become just another starving student.

I never got any marks, and I lived off of plasma money for a WHILE. Work paid for rent and cigarettes, and that was about it.

I guess I will consider being a full donar. I was afraid of needles but that all went away. The whole money thing is great. My job doesn't pay too great and I am looking to buy a car soon so donating will get me there faster.
