Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Here's the preview taken from Nwatna.com OFFICIAL NWA TNA PREVIEW FOR AUGUST 28TH It has already been raved about to those who were in person to witness it, and this Wednesday night you can get to see the match the wrestling world has been talking about for yourself. After a grueling best of three series between Lynn and Styles that resulted in a draw, Low Ki entered the scene and made the challenge to both men. Not only was he putting up his X-Division title, but he also wanted to prove who the best man was in a Triple Threat Triple Ladder match. For Jerry Lynn, this will be his very first ladder match. Can the veteran overcome the heated rivalry with Styles? Will Low Ki be able to hang on to his X-Division title? Coming up this Wednesday, witness these three phenomenal athletes perform and reach standards never before seen in this business on NWA Total Nonstop Action. Jeff Jarrett continues to have a target on his head. First, Brian Lawler has vowed to finally expose Jeff Jarrett. Will Lawler finally reveal the reason he has been so upset at Jarrett? While Lawler has been chasing Jarrett, Jarrett has been chasing the Bullet. This week the Bullet will square off with Jeff Jarrett! Will we finally see who is under the mask? With the Tag Team Gauntlet for the Gold match announced for September 18th, the tag team division is heating up. This Wednesday, you will see a four team elimination match to award the final entry spot in the Gauntlet for the Gold, as it will be Harris & Storm vs. The Hot Shots vs. The Backseat Boys vs. Slash and Kobain (from the Disciples of the New Church). Which team will come out on top? In more tag team action, you will also see Yang & Estrada of the Flying Elvises take on the SATs in an X-Division contest. Since winning the Miss TNA crown, Bruce has been a man on a mission. This week, his crown is challenged by Playboy fitness model April Hunter. Two of the hottest newcomers to the X-Division will square off to kick off this week's TNA, as you will see the Amazing Red take on Kid Kash. All that and more this Wednesday night exclusively on pay-per-view with NWA Total Nonstop Action!
Guest kingkamala Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Besides the Bruce-April Hunter match that sounds like one hell of a show I hear the Triple Ladder match is an easy MOTYC, I can't wait to see this
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I'm ordering this one. Except for Miss TNA it looks awesome. Oh, and why isn't Disco going after the X-Title? He would be great for that division.
Guest J*ingus Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Actually, the Miss TNA match was fairly tolerable. It's the crap with the "Bullet" that was bad.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 I'd imagine the Miss TNA thing wouldn't be as bad as the previous ones. Isn't the girl an actual trained wrestler? And I like Bruce in ring...its the out of stuff I can't stand.
Guest BifEverchad Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 Tonight will be my very first NWA-TNA show. Last week was the first time it was offered in Canada, but I couldnt see it because of prior commitments. But tonight, watch out! I am extremely excited to finally sit back and watch a full NWA-TNA PPV. The card looks decent and the hype is building up for the Triple Ladder Match, which should be awesome. Kid Kash vs. Red This should be a gem of a match. Both men are very skilled and can pull off a great contest. Red is really coming up strong in this sport and we all know what Kid Kash can do as well. Hopefully these two can pull it together and show us what they can really do tonight. Backseat Boys vs. The Hot Shots vs. Slash/Kobaine vs. Harris/Storm To be honest, I don't know much about any of these teams. I have not seen any of them in action thus far in TNA, but I am very excited to see what the Tag Division is going to offer us. Monte Brown vs. Sonny Siaki Same goes for these two guys. I don't know much about them, but hopefully they can pull off a decent affair. SAT vs. Flying Elvises (Yang and Estrada) Should be an entertaining match up of these high flying, risk takers with the SAT facing off against the Elvises. A fast paced match is to be expected from this X Divisioners and I don't have any doubts thats what we'll get. Jeff Jarrett vs. The Bullet There is still some mystery surrounding this angle, as last week Jarrett and ourselves were apparently left hanging. Hopefully this week, we can see what the big surprise is and I'm crossing my fingers that we won't be disappointed. Hmm, any guesses? Did anyone say Road Dogg Jesse James.....perhaps? A.J. Styles vs. Jerry Lynn vs. Lo-Ki (Ladder Match) I don't wanna get my hopes up too high for this match, but we all know what these three men have pulled off thus far in TNA. This could very well be the match of the year tonight. Wishing everyone a great show! Bif
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 If someone else want to do some match by match commentary...that would be great. I won't be online for the show this week...at least not the first hour and a half of it
Guest BifEverchad Posted August 28, 2002 Report Posted August 28, 2002 If someone else want to do some match by match commentary...that would be great. I won't be online for the show this week...at least not the first hour and a half of it dammit bps, you're not gonna be here tonight? but you're like the NWA-TNA big brother I've always wanted!
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Oki So when you lack the ability to write up good angles you just don't have one for a feud case n point Jarrett n Lawler
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Iron Mike and Don West on commentary. They show a clip of Goldy interviewing Brian Lawler as he's entering the building...Lawler's about to tell what Jeff Jarrett did, when Jarrett jumps him from behind and leaves him laying. First match: Kid Kash vs. Amazing Red.
Guest Trivia247 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 geez the little kids want Monty to SHUT UP! good ol Memphis Klan Fans LOL
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Kash over Red with the Bankruptcy. After the match, Red tries to shake Kash's hand, but Kash attacks, drawing the SATs, who give Kash the Spanish Fly. Notable highspots: Red with a nice somersault plancha on Kash, Kash with a SWANK~! top rope Falcon Arrow. Next match: Sonny Siaki vs. Monty Brown.
Guest Angle2004 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I really liked the backstage Siaki interview without the crowd noise. It makes it a lot more clearer and easier to listen to. Plus, the live crowd really only wants to see wrestling and not interviews. It would be cool if they could do interviews like this in the future.
Guest CanadianChris Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Siaki over Brown...Brown controls the entire match with his slow, plodding offense, until Jeff Jarrett comes out and distracts Brown. Siaki sneaks up from beind and gives Brown the Great Equalizer, then gets a schoolboy from the pin. All of Jarrett's adversaries then come out (Armstrong and "Bullet, " Lawler), and we have a pull apart brawl. Next match: Backseat Boys vs. Slash and Cobain (who had an interview with Goldy prior to the match) vs. Hot Shots vs. Harris and Storm in a 4-team elimination match.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 My thoughts: The fact that half the crowd left after last weks live show really hurt this one. For example...the Sat and the Elvises had a good match...but with no crowd...it's hard to get into it. I enjoyed the tag team elimination match, the aforementioned tag match very much. I didn't watch the miss TNA match...I got hungry. Kid Kash vs. Red didn't match up well...and aside from a couple neat spots...it was just there. The Main Event was real good...especially the kick ass ending. Not as good as the last 3 way they had...but darn good on its own.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Oh...and Siaki vs. Brown was boring. Time to stop putting Brown in matches longer than 5 minutes.
Guest cabbageboy Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Yeah this show was hurt a lot by the crowd not really being there. There were some decent matches that could have been really strong had the crowd been into it. The main event was really good too but I don't think it's really as awesome as it was hyped. It's good to see this one have the blow away ending that the first match needed though. Now if they had done the insane cradle piledriver off the top rope in the first match, it would have been the coolest match of the year. As it is, the first 3 way was mindblowing up until the lame finish and this one seemed a bit lethargic up until the jaw dropping last few minutes.
Guest J*ingus Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Well, considering that Lynn and Styles had already wrestled for a combined 40 minutes that night, and Low-Ki had already had one match as well, I think they did as well as they possibly could've. As for the crowd, shit, by the time they got to the second show they'd already been there for almost three hours.
Guest Sandman9000 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 How did the Backseats look, and did they hit any of their spots? (Trent hitting the Yakuza Kick, T-Gimmick, One Hit Wonder, Cosmic Atomic, etc...)?
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Tonight's show definitely was hurt by the lack of a full crowd, but there were still some decent chants here and there. Match of the night was definitely the three-way ladder match, which was pretty darn good all things considered. All in all, I was fairly satisfied by tonight's show. Can't wait to see what they bring to the table for the Sept. 18th show.
Guest J*ingus Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 They weren't in there long and were eliminated first, so they didn't get to do much. Didn't see a Yakuza kick, don't know what the others are, but what they did get to do looked pretty good.
Guest Sandman9000 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Goddammit! It's all Feinstein's fault. Oh yeah, the other moves. T-Gimmick is a double Razor's Edge, with Trent and Johnny grabbing a victim's arms and powerbombing him down. One Hit Wonder is an Acid Bomb with a Diamond Cutter, and at times Johnny uses an OPEN ladder for the diamond cutter. Ow ow ow, but I image they didn't hit this. Cosmic Atomic is a combo move, with first the Backseats hitting a Hart Attack, followed by Johnny turning the victim over into a Boston Crab while Trent hitting a leg drop, then Johnny flipping into a front-face lock while Trent runs the ropes, and hits a dropkick to the face. If the Backseats were allowed to hit any spots, this would be the one they hit.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 They did the Cosmic Attack...and I could have sworn a yakuza kick. Don't worry...the last Borash column said that TNA wanted to use them. I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the tag gauntlet on the 18th. I thought they looked like the best "Team" out there...for obvious reasons. I'd like to see them become TNA tag mainstays. Backseat boys vs. SAT, or Yang and Estrada, or Harris and Storm...it all sounds good to me.
Guest J*ingus Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I still wish that they could've aired the dark match of Storm & Harris vs. Brian Lee & David Young, instead of what ended up going on next week with Ron Harris. Amazing how much difference replacing just one guy makes.
Guest gizmo Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I remember Tenay screaming "yakuza kick!!!" so im sure acid hit it.
Guest Ravenbomb Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 so did Bullett get unmasked?
Guest eirejmcmahon Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Bullet wasn't unmasked, no.
