What's your ranking on the top posters list?

#20, just behind Mario Logan. I'd say roughly 500 of my posts were in the Mission thread, and I can assure you none of them involved "+1" or post after post of talking to myself.

17th with a large gap to 16th, and I'll admit a few of them were uh and hmm, and in the waning days I posted links in succession, and taught a math lesson from 12 to 0. 90% of the time, my posts in the mission had some point, the other 10% were my patented pointless posts, mainly because I was bored.

My first 500 post were non whore post but the rest I got in the Mission to 1000. Only lately I was really whoring. From maybe 500-1000 I was chatting. Then it became a race for me. My name is Mark and I am a whore.

I don't think that I post whore, but maybe I'm wrong. I don't like whores, so that would make me an anti-whore, which pretty much means the I myself can't also be a post whore. ::exhales::

I think I'm #49, and that's with very little post whoring (a few posts in both the Mission and Word Association threads).

For the record, all of my posts in the "Mission to 1000" thread were as carefully planned and long-winded as everything else I post on this board. I don't consider my post count to be tainted in any way as a result.

I'm in position 106 right now, though i'm steadily moving up. I'd be higher if i ever used the Mission to 1000 thread.

I sometimes can't believe some of the new people to the board have 400+ posts, where as myself, and others who have been here since January and February only have 200-300 posts. It's kind of sad actually.

I'm probably #300 on the list, but I couldn't be bothered to check.

Aw, post-whoring!!! I posted a brief history of early post whoring at the vanilla midgets. King of the post whores- Tony149! King of post-whoring with absolutely nothing meaningful to say- Flyboy!

Before the advent of the mission thread, good fashioned post whoring existed where you actually waited for someone to respond in a topic before replying. None of this talking to yourself bullshit.

Some of the posters with mad post counts also benefit from the OAOAST. Prior to this thread, my If-Then Statements and Word Ass. Thread ruled the school. That was post whoring. At least people could pretend they thought about their response. Tony and I bombarded these threads and responded to pretty much every topic imaginable. Hey, what a way for someone to pass the time away when insomnia gets the best of you.

Now, when the post whoring occurs, it's almost a way to see how many posts I have, not how many topics can I respond to. (maybe the latter is worse). Unfortunately, neither improves the quality of the board and I have ceased to engage in such acts. DO we really need someone who's sig contains more words than their last 75 posts replying with "i agree" or "shudders" or "nods" or "LOL". no, we don't.

it's funny how people start threads about who they miss from the board. the usual suspects are named and people never think to themselves, "maybe if these guys didn't have to sift through thirty posts of shit to find a quality post, they would still be around".

well, hopefully from now on, when you post-whore, you will try to contribute something to the board other than your own post count. really. if the admins made the post count disappear tomorrow, how would you feel? would you be upset because people didn't know you had 3000+ posts? would you not care because the quality of your posts speak for themselves? do you think your prestige level would go down because you wouldn't be included on favorite posters lists since it appears that post counts are a strong factor in people's answers? or would you simply be upset because you want to know when you wil leach the next level (for those of you who haven't changed your tagline)?

spending a lot of time on this board and actually saying something and spending a lot of time on the board saying nothing are the two routes you can choose when post whoring. which one will you choose?

(wipes tear)

Eloquently put.

I choose the middle path, posting a lot and saying halfway worthwhile things. This way, I neither gain the praise or wrath of anyone while spreading my word about the board.

I remember what happened at the old board when they did away with post counts. I can't say that I'd be in favor of droping them, but if it happened, I could always be proud of the fact that Im #47 to join, and most of the 46 ahead of me don't post here any more.

Edit: People with a higher Member # than me who still post here on a semi-regular or better basis:

bps21

Spaceman Spiff

Midnight Express83 (I think)

bob_barron

Will Scarlet

Aint that special??

How do I check my ranking? It isn't numbered and I'll be damned if I'm going to count't.

Yeah, regretfully, I joined pretty late compared to a lot of people.

I used to be like #19 until my account stopped working. Now I look like some newbie.

I'd also say I joined pretty early and I still don't have too many post. That's why I thank the Mission thread. It helped me make up for all that lost time

I must admit that I am kind of curious as to which poster is going to be the first to pass up the Admin. I figure either Anglesault, bps, or Flyboy will be the one to do it. They seem so close, yet so far to actually doing it though.

I could have done it in a week if the mission to 1000 was still here. I was ranking in 200 post a day sometimes. Although I did earn them by whoring.

My ranking? Uhh, I came in as a wild card.

Lucky #13!

I remember back when I first joined, and Anglesault was a Hardcore Champion and goodhelmet was Tag Team Champion, and Tony was... TONY!

Anyway, just for fun, here are some posters I remember that I mentally thought such a big deal about when I got a higher post count than them (e.g. "Holy crap! I NEVER thought I'd pass them!"):

- Mystery Eskimo

- Some Guy

- MarioLogan (although I GUARANTEE if he hadn't left I never would've come close, and he'd be up there with Flyboy if not higher... God, can you IMAGINE MarioLogan in the Mission to 1000 thread? :P)

- Marvinisalunatic

- El Satanico

- pinnacleofallthingsmanly

- Big McLargeHuge (I SWEAR I BEAT YOU [or at least came really close]... once! But the next day I came on and you'd killed me again!)

- AlwaysPissedOff

Yes, I care very much about my ranking. I'm a materialistic son of a bitch, so sue me. But then, since I've been listed in so many (OK, 3, but that's a lot more than when I first started!) people's "top posters" lists lately, maybe it wouldn't matter, since it's obvious, post count or not, that people know who I am, and I guess that's really all that matters, right?

(note: That's NOT an invitation to delete my post count... :P)
