Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted August 28, 2002 Governor DFL-Roger Moe R-Tim Pawlenty Ind-Tim Penny Go Pawlenty. Moe doesn't hide he's a liberal. The person that bothers me is Tim Penny. He hides behind the persona of a moderate when he's pro-choice, for raising taxes, and socializing medicare. Senator D-Paul Welfare R-Norm Coleman Some other guys are running but I forgot their names. God I hope Coleman beats Welfare. Welfare lied and said he wouldn't run again. The guy's a damn socialist and people in this state better be smart enough to figure out we don't need two Liberals in the Senate.
Guest Olympic Slam Report post Posted August 28, 2002 The race for Governor is pretty big here in California. Gray Davis (D) vs. Bill Simon ®. It'd be truly something if Simon could win it as he's a REAL conservative Republican, something California hasn't had in a long time. Davis is in hot water because of the state's energy crisis the past couple of years. Although Simon is getting hammered in the TV commericals because some of his former businesses supposedly got busted for fraud. So that even things out. Simon will have enough trouble as it is because he's a Republican. Seriously, Osama Bin-Laden could run as a Democrat in California and win it for that reason alone. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted August 28, 2002 I live in California, and yes the governors race is starting to really heat up. Personally though I despise both candidates. Simon is extremely conservative so naturally I don't care for him, and Gray Davis is just a horrible liar and cheater of a person. He ran on a platform and didn't hold to it after a week or so......If there is a Green Candidate, I will probobaly go that route, if I even look into it......... Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted August 28, 2002 In Maryland there is a governor's race between current Lieutennant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (Dem.) and most likely Rep. Bob Ehrlich (Rep.). The current Governor (Parris N. Glendening ) has served 2 terms and (thank the lord) cannot run again. Maryland is largely democrat, so I fear we will end up having a woman as Governor. Not that there is anything wrong with a woman governor, but no one around here likes Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and I personally don't think she'd make a good Governor, as she's been pretty suck ass as Lt. Governor. Maryland hasn't elected a Republican governor in 36 years although the word is that its probably going to be a really close race this year. I'll probably end up voting for Ehrlich , since there probably won't be an independent running and Im a registered as Independent. I would never vote democrat..ever.. Guest DragonflyKid Report post Posted August 29, 2002 I'm from California also where it's basically Simon and his shady business dealing in the past which will turn off voters because of the whole Enron/various corporations' scandals versus Davis and the energy problems he may have been partly responsible for. As already mentioned CA is a Democratic state and the energy crisis has simmered down from a year ago so I see Davis winning. I am completely apathetic to politics so I could care less who wins. Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Massachusetts. There's NOTHING. My US Rep. is running unopposed and the U.S. Senator (John Kerry) has no Republican opposition. There's a race to fill the Governor's seat but I couldn't possibly care LESS about any of the candidates. I'll just show up anyway and toss my vote in each race to the Libertarians - seeing as they actually need it.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Ohio. The 17th Congressional District is interesting, as we have: R- Ann Womer Benjamin (and even Republicans around here hate her) D- Tim Ryan (good guy, only about 28 or 30 years old, seems to be the favorite) I- James Traficant. Yes, he's running from jail, and he'll probably get about 20% of the vote.

Heh, you should care. When it comes down to the important things in life (money, taxes, small laws, regulations) a governor matters even more than a president. Especially for a state as big and as prosperous as ours.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Eh, nothing of note in SW Ohio. I feel for you having Wellstone represent your state though Vern. PS: Do you remember in '96 that political ad he did where he ran around to all these places touting his socialist plans? I wanted someone to stick their leg out while he hurried along... We have Ventura(governed like a liberal), Dayton and Welfare. That's gotta be one of the worst trios in the country. Of course I remember those ads. He also had those hokey green bus ads in 1990. Guest DrTom Report post Posted August 29, 2002 In Maryland there is a governor's race between current Lieutennant Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (Dem.) and most likely Rep. Bob Ehrlich (Rep.). The current Governor (Parris N. Glendening ) has served 2 terms and (thank the lord) cannot run again. Thank the lord indeed. Though I'm a registered independent, it would take a lot to get me to vote for a Democrat, and I never even considered voting for Glendening. Townsend will be at least as bad, so I'm definitely voting for Ehrlich, whom I've voted for in the Congressional races every time. I think he'd do better running as a Senator to get those uber-liberal chumps Sarbanes and Mikulski out of there, but if he wins the gubernatorial race, I certainly won't complain. BTW, regarding KKT: have you noticed that she's just plain Kathleen Townsend most of the time, but becomes Kathleen Kennedy Townsend (emphasis hers; just listen to her and her cronies talk) during election season. Funny how that works...

Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted August 29, 2002 As soon as I get motivated enough to do it, I'm going to run for mayor of my town. If nothing else, more people will vote just to keep me out of office. I'm thinking of running using Jello Biafra's platform when he ran for mayor in San Francisco. Legalized panhandling on the city's behalf, legalized squatting in all buildings left vacant for tax reasons, pretty much everything but banning cars from the city limits, which is why he only came in fourth place in that race.
