Guest BigPoppaKev Report post Posted August 28, 2002 I was wondering who your favorite sports writer/personality/broadcaster for each of the sports. Baseball:Peter Gammons Football: John Clayton Basketball: David Aldridge Other: Kornheiser and Wilboun from Pardon the Interruption. And Tony Gwynn has been really good on Baseball Tonight when he has been on it. Also Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith are always great on TNT.

Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Baseball: Buck Martinez. I miss the days when we could watch him on TSN 100 times a year. Football: Cris Collinsworth. Hockey: Don Cherry. He's an ass, but he's a genius ass. Other: Brian Williams. By far the best when it comes to amateur sports, soccer or Olympic coverage.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Hotness: Kathryn Humphries Hockey: Chris Cuthbert and Harry Neale Basketball: Marv Albert Football: Al Michaels Anchor: Ron McLean Studio: Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Baseball: Ernie Harwell...kinda disapointing that with these assholes striking that tonight was almost certainly his last game Hockey: Don Cherry and Micky Redmon...if Micky thinks a call sucks he'll let you know about it
Guest Mad the Swine Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Skip Caray and Joe Simpson (Braves) Good on TV, even better on the radio, where they can say just about anything they please.
Guest treble charged Report post Posted August 29, 2002 James Duthie from TSN is without a doubt my favourite anchor. Referring to the Olympic Flame as the 'Eternal Doobie' was hilarious. As for broadcasters, Dan Schulman and Buck Martinez has to be one of the best broadcast teams in baseball history. Also, I really enjoy Greg Millen's analyst work on Hockey Night in Canada, as him and Cuthbert make a very good team.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Baseball: Jerry Remy Football: Gil Santos + Gino Capaletti (Pats radio guys), Howard David and Boomer Esiason are great too. I love PTI too.

Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Hmm, names that come to mind... * Al Michaels, John Madden * Aikman, Moose Johnson, Dick Stockton (loved that trio last year, although this year's "A Team" looks good on paper) * I always liked Keith Olbermann (sp?), even though I didn't agree with him all the time * Charles Barkley. Him and Laimbeer ought to be a team -- I'd love to see them disagree on a subject * Dennis Miller -- NOT!!!

Guest Rabbi_wilson13 Report post Posted August 29, 2002 I like Brett Musberger, who can call an entire game by himself and entertain me to no end. Skip Caray and Joe Simpson, who make all my Braves games viewings enjoyable. I've never heard them on the radio, though. i'll have to look into that. The entire ESPN Sunday Night Football crew. Joey T rocks the house. Special bonus points to Mike Patrick for his college basketball work, which is always splendid. And I get a kick out of any of the British correspondents during golf who are out on the course and have to whisper. I love it.

Guest Some Guy Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Baseball: Jerry Remy (Red Sox Broadcaster) I hate the Brave's guys and Espn Sunday night guys. Don't care enough about other sprts to pay attention.

Is that what you really want in your play by play man. I don't think he kisses as much ass as you think. Besides, there's not much to choose from in the NFL play by play category TV-wise. None of them are that great. Anyway, it's funny you mention my choice of NFL play by play guys because after I posted this, I remembered Howard David on CBS Radio, who to me is the best NFL play by play man. Of course, he's on radio so not many people will know who he is. I also like Sam Rosen and Bill Maas a lot on Fox. I preferred them to Madden and Summerall. Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 29, 2002 What no Dick Vitale fans? YEAH BABY YEAH Vitale lost credibility with me when he put Chris Duhon on his preseason All American second team a month or so back. Duhon's a good player, but he's not second team All American...at least not right now. If Duhon didn't wear a Duke jersey, Vitale wouldn't have him as high. Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Television/Radio: Barry F'n Melrose ... funniest man on tv. Written: John Buccigross ... came out of no where to writing some of the most consistently funny ESPN articles.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Bill King is GOLD w/ A's play by play I like Jim Rome as a radio personality I liked TNT's NFL team before ESPN bought them out for Sunday night football.
Guest Grenouille Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Hockey-I like B's old team with Derek Sanderson and some other guy. I can't remember his name. I have no idea who calls the Montreal's games, but I like them too. They have lots of passion for every goal LE BUTT!!!!!. ESPN's Bill Clement and Gary Thorne aren't that bad, but they play big time favorites IMO. In 99 it was the Stars, in 00 it was the Devils, in 01 it was the Avs(I'll let this one slide ), and this past year the Wings. Baseball-I'll go with what Some Guy said Jerry Remy Football-Call them boring, but I always liked Madden and Summerall. I look forward to the Pats season with friggin Boomer Esiason calling all of them(save MNF). Basketball-I don't remember there names, but I like the guys that call all of the Celtics games. Guest meanmaisch Report post Posted August 29, 2002 How could I forget Wilbon and Kornheiser? They're so classic. I can't stand the Braves announcers. Like the Braves fans, they seem catatonic and so uninterested in the games.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted August 29, 2002 Baseball-I'll go with what Some Guy said Jerry Remy KingPk said him too, but never the less the Rem Dog is the man. I'm amazed that ESPN hasn't offered him tons of money to go with them. He knows the game better than any commentater I've ever heard and isn't sfraid to speak his mind about players, managment, Umpires, etc... Sometimes (like now) he's the main reason I watch the Sox games. I've actually learned a lot about the game from listenign to him for the last few years, since he's been on Fox and NESN became part of basic cable.
