Guest evenflowDDT Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Besides blood-mark indy feds, for some reason I've found myself thinking a lot about seriously buying some OVW tapes for some reason (hell, I even checked out the website today and read their long interview/article with "Machine"). On one hand, they gave us Albert and Brock Lesnar and re-trained Mark Henry and Bull Buchanan, but on the other hand, they have Nick Dinsmore and "Machine", and trained Shelton Benjamin, Leviathan (aka Deacon Batista), and Prototype (aka John Cena before he sucked ) and they occasionally have some cool inter-promotional match-ups with WWF guys. Anyway, is there some decent OVW stuff? Are there any recommended tapes/shows? They have a month's worth of TV tapings for like $10 I think... any of that any good?
Guest Retro Rob Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 I haven't seen any of it myself, but I have heard all good things about the fed. Mybe before buying TV tapings, buy a tape of one of their big shows that include WWF Superstars. That way if you end up not liking the OVW talent, it wouldn't be a complete waste. Personally, I would buy the tapes just because Cornette commentates IIRC.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 If you like REALLY old-school booking, you might like it
Guest J*ingus Posted August 29, 2002 Report Posted August 29, 2002 Ever seen any Smokey Mountain Wrestling? It's basically the same thing, only with the jolly green giants of the WW(F)E developmental machine taking the place of the old Southern veterans. For suggestions, I'd start with a tape of one of their big events, like Rockin' Rumble or Christmas Chaos (Benoit vs. Dinsmore!).
