Angle at least had to go through a while before getting the belt around his waist. He showed undeniable talent and charisma. Lesnar has only showed that he can grunt, throw a mean shoulderblock, and blow a two minute promo. He's getting the title based on his LOOK alone.

Btw, for anyone who attended the tapings, did anyone who stay after see the superstars come to the casino. Since I stayed at Mohegan Sun(I didn't just go there for the wrestling, it just so happened that when I went there w/ my family,and WWE was there and i was like WTF I'm going), I got to see many wrestlers after it was over. Many of them went to the shops and some got drinks. I met Michael HAyes (wemnt straight for the alcohol) , Pat Patterson, Mark Henry, Rico- he was the nicest of them all, PAul Heymen, D-von, Baustisa, Dr. Tom and the Sarge. Most got drinks and all signed autographes. Many of the fan s didn't recognize the old guys. It was a great show and very enjoyable.

Although not tapping or pretending to be close to tapping to the Crossface AND Anklelock at the same time is just bad. And I'm enjoying Brock now. That was a good beating.

Lesnar IS over, he either gets booed, or large "Let's Go Lesnar" chants. He DOES have a good look which is important from a character standpoint. Brock LOOKS like a mean motherfucker who no one can beat, which is a big part of his appeal. I'm sensing that his detractors (in this thread at least) are upset because Angle wasn't given the title. My response is that Angle was given the title almost as quickly as Brock was. AND, they plan from my understanding is to slow burn an Angle face turn where he'll be the first to beat Brock in a high profile match (mania?) thus making Angle all that more meaningful. This helps everyone, and hope they continue with their plan in stead of getting nervous and hotshotting to someone else.

Still, almost everything on tonight's show worked, even the backstaqe skits. Final Tally: 3 GREAT TV matches (Edge/Eddy, Rey/Rico, and the Main Event), an entertaining Brock squash and some righteous Bautista asskicking make me a happy man. Bring on Brock/Taker!

He also had to go through the midcard, and was given a fairly weak run as Champion. Lesnar's showed no real ability yet, no mic skills, and no reason to BE champion. He didn't have to hold another belt first to make sure he was ready, and didn't "pay his dues" like other people have had to.

O stop being so bitter. Angle will be built up to beat the guy so don't worry. Just give him a chance before dismissing him. Brock won King Of The Ring. The reason he didnt win any lower titles, is because part of his character is that he's unbeatable, so he wouldn't be able to lose the Euro or IC titles to anyone, meaning he'd have all the titles which would piss you guys off even more. I think they did the right thing with Lesnar. EDIT: By the way, I'd like to see you tell Brock to his face that he looks like a hamster. I think the big jacked up tatooed amaetur champion would put you in your place!

Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted August 30, 2002 Report Posted August 30, 2002 Thoughts: -I really digged the main event as they used Taker in the best possible way and totally had Angle/Benoit outclass, outshow, outwrestle, outperform, just plain 'out' taker in that match. The fans were hyped for all of Benoit and Angles shit and I REALLY hope they put them in a feud with each other where Benoit blames Angle for letting go of the ankle lock and costing him the match. Angle and Benoit showed why they are the best in the world in this match, just making everyone else in the company, from HHH to Brock to Matt Hardy to Edge to freakin Tajiri look like rank-amateurs. These guys need to get the win back from Taker though. -Ok, they've established Lesnars 'ass-kicking' ways again with the Hardy squash, so lets stop that and just focus on making Taker/Brock the best Storyline in the longest time. It can be done. I have faith in Paul Heyman (the most probable reason lesnar is on Smackdown -other than fear of over-exposure- is because Heyman can have full control in the main event. Heyman is good with the archetypes and should know what to do *crosses fingers*. I know lots of people here think the match will be horrible (ok, everyone here) but if they can make the storyline compelling enough it doesn't matter how shitty the match will be, the fans will still be *into it*. -Rico vs. Rey kicked all sorts of ass. Rico busted out some whomp ass offence and Rey bumped well and hit all of his spots... That's all I could ever ask for. -Tajiri vs. Moore rocked. C'mon, Tajiri/Benoit, Tajiri/Guerrero PLEASE!!! -Edge vs. Eddie ROCKED. Eddie vs. Rikishi was better than it had any right to be! Rikishi vs. Benoit was...there... Eddie is the real guy being buried, where is the love for latino heat? -Benoits montage ruled all sorts of things. But you know, 'too lil too late'. Anyways, I marked out like a bitch for it and the *cuts throat* so, whatever... -Cena/Dvon was just... what? The 'did you know of the week'.. Pat Patterson had an idea a while ago to have Cena slap Vince to help get him over until “guess who” nixed the idea saying that nobody would believe an employee would slap his boss. I won’t say who that wrestler was but he went further to say at this point in his career the kid should be taking moves like the Pedigree at this stage of his career. This same unnamed gentleman had the original Brock Lesnar ref stop finishes axed. -Jeff Marek -I LOOOOOOVED this show, I thought it was one of the best smackdowns...ever... Sure it didn't have a Benoit/Austin, but up-and-down the card it was better than solid, with a swank main event and a killer opener. Keith didn't really like it and neither did Marek... I guess it sucked if you were really upset with Taker going over, but I wasn't. And trust me, I am a huge fan of both Benoit and Angle. It's just the Taker/Brock storyline is so integral to Brocks title run. Will it do a huge buyrate? No, of course not. But if the Wwf puts an undercard of say Benoit/Angle I'd almost get the PPV (and I never get Wwf PPVs).
