Yeah, there were some sucky things on the show, but the good things made up for it. First of all, it angers me that The Hives or The Strokes or even Nappy Roots didn't win the MTV2 award, because they all get played much more than stupid-ass Dashboard Confessional. Dashboard sucks in concert too, I saw them open for Weezer, they were criznap. Anyways, yeah, Eminem, what a fucktard. He won't play along with TRIUMPH~!, he makes comments at Moby for no reason at all, gets booed a little, keeps talking, and then basically gets his ass booed off the stage. Then, later on, when he won again, he had to come FROM THE BACK. What was he, off pouting? What a loser. I mean, yeah, sure, he WON the big award and all, but he's a loser. I laugh. Ahahahaha! Why make fun of Moby anyways? What is he, trying to start a gangsta-style rap feud with him? He'd be better off picking Mahatma frickin' Gandhi. Actually, it's Insane Clown Posse. And they might seem like pussies to some, but at least they had enough balls to actually throw out a challenge to Eminem instead of being all talk. HOLY FUCKING JESUS... That whole show was the greatest I have ever seen. I missed the Ludacris performance, but my girl Avril Lavigne started me out with a spectacular performance of "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi" (the latter of which they cut off, damn them), and the reast of the show was rockin'. First there was The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. Jimmy Fallon's parodies were fucking incredible... too bad he sucked after that. I marked out for James Brown at the end there. Michael Jackson being there receiving the Artist of the Millenium "award" was also a shocking (but good) surprise.

 

I'll be honest- Most of the awards didn't go to the people I thought they should have gone to. Regardless, the show just had a special feeling throughout the whole thing. It was great seeing some of my favorite celebrities as presenters, such as the lovely Olsen twins, Avril again, Steve-O, Bam Margera, and Johnny Knoxville from Jackass (and the movie has an official release date! yes!), Nelly, Kelly Osbourne, Anthony Kiedis, Brittany Murphy, and more that I can't think of at this time.

 

The Murder Inc. performance had me marking out just for the significance of Nas being with them. Eminem and Diddy put on great spectacles, although the lip synching sucked. Shakira was HOT, and although I don't usually like her music, the song she performed tonight sounded like an old school No Doubt song, so it was cool.

 

Some other random personal highlights-

 

Avril Lavigne- Best New Artist. I was sure she'd lose to Puddle of Mudd, but she won, and deservingly so. I welcomed yet another chance to have her on my screen.

 

Dashboard Confessional won the MTV2 award. I love Chris Carraba and his band. I only first heard the band 2 years ago, but I immediately fell in love with his lyrics since mine are so similar. Yet another deserving winner.

 

Michelle Branch won the Viewer's Choice award. I was online voting for her repeatedly all night, exactly 117 times in total. Yes, I'm serious. I am the world's biggest male Michelle Branch fan... I listen to her CD on repeat daily, and that's a big statement since I usually listen to rock 80% of the time. She's even on my computer wallpaper. Anyway, she is an excellent musician and I marked out hard for this.

 

I thought nothing could top Michelle's big victory, but damn was I wrong...

 

In, dare I say, one of the greatest moments in music history, GUNS 'N ROSES played a surprise 3 song set. I couldn't believe it was them... but as soon as I heard the opening chords of "Welcome to the Jungle", I marked out like a little girl at a New Kids on the Block concert. As an aside... did anyone notice Axl looked like Road Dogg? Anyway... that was easily one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. I was jumping around my room and by the end of the song, I was drenched in sweat. Still, there were 2 more songs!

 

Hands down, the best awards show ever. I have never been able to sit through a whole awards show before, but I'm glad I did for this one. In fact, I'm watching it again as I type!
