Guest Your God Report post Posted February 24, 2002 My pick would have to be Brian Pillman's big up your's to the smart mark ECW fans in February 1996. "Sma-a-a-rt maaaark...what's a smart mark? A mark with a high IQ?!" (My user name on the last Smarkboard). Classic stuff, got him over as a heel big time as he found a way to make fans genuinely hate him. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 There have been a lot of them, but I will go with Ric Flair's return promo on Nitro in 1998. Where he told Bischoff off.
Guest joshicho Report post Posted February 24, 2002 My favourite promo is between Cactus Jack's "He's Hardcore" promo or Ric Flairs promo on the last ever Nitro "Did I, Did I, WHOOOOOO! Did I happen to here Vince McMahon say he was going to hold WCW in the palm.. of.. his... hand! Is that what he said ? Does that mean that you are going to hold Jack Brisco, Dory Funk, Harley Race, the Road Warriors, Sting, Luger, The Steiners, Ric Flair, Steamboat, does that mean that you're gonna hold us all in the palm of your hand. To coin a phrase, I DON'T THINK SO. You know, at 12 o'clock today, someone very special to me said 'Don't go out on that show tonight knowing it's the very last time that you'll ever be on TNT or TBS." She said to me, "Don't go out there and cry. Don't go out there and say you're sorry," because I'm NOT. I've been FOURTEEN TIMES (Crowd: "WHOOOOOOO!") THE WORLD CHAMPION, for the greatest WRESTLING organization in the WORLD, WCW. We, I'm talking about the Stings, the Steamboats, the Steiners, the Road Warriors, I'm talking about my best friend Arn Anderson and the Four Horseman ("WHOOO!") We have been on a par, and we have been equal to any wrestling organization in the WORLD. As a matter of fact, we have run neck and neck with you, Vince McMahon, for YEARS. And just for trivia Vince McMahon, did you know that in 1981 when you were trying to become an announcer, your Dad was on the board of directors and voted for ME to be the World Heavyweight Champion. WHOOOO! How 'bout that! And ever since that day I have been a limousine riding, jet flying, kiss stealing, wheelin deelin, SON OF A GUN, and ALONG WITH THE WHOLE DAMN WCW, have kissed the beautiful girls world wide and made 'em cry. But you see, we were EVERY BIT the force. We worked WCW, we lived, we breathed, we sweat WCW. We paid the price to be the BEST. It's never been about the boys, it's always been WWF versus the WCW. In the office, the boys have gone out there night in and NIGHT OUT doing everything they could to be the very best at what they've chosen to do with their lives. Those boys are here tonight. WE ARE. We're not going anywhere. YOU CAN'T HOLD US IN YOUR HANDS and control our lives. WE'RE WCW. We've bled and we've sweat. When was the last time that you wrestled for an hour, cut yourself five times, bled for 45 minutes. WHEN WERE YOU THERE? YOU WEREN'T. YOU WEREN'T!! You weren't in the dressing room, on the road 40 days and 40 nights, bleeding, sweating, going to the next town. YOU CAN'T HOLD PEOPLE'S LIVES IN YOUR HANDS. We're the greatest wrestling company of all time. I"m gonna say it again, You can't control us OR our future. And in closing, let me say this... In all my years in this sport, my greatest opponent in this company has been STING. So tonight, if we're going out, if we're going out on a high-note, Stinger, The Nature Boy wants you right here in the middle of the ring (HUGE POP) because Sting, STING, my greatest opponent, STING, it's your last chance TO BE THE MAN (Crowd starts chanting Sting's name, Flair's joins along). To be the man, you've got to BEAT THE MAN. AND I AM, THE MAN!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Guest RetroRob215 Report post Posted February 25, 2002 My personal favorite was Mankind's transformation into Cactus Jack following the Royal Rumble in 2000.
Guest Loss4Words Report post Posted February 25, 2002 I don't know if I consider this promo the best ever or not, but it definitely deserves a mention and is without a doubt in my top five. It didn't happen very long ago, so I think you'll know what I'm talking about. From CRZ's transcript of WWF Smackdown 01/17/02: Cut that music! Cut the damn music NOW!! How dare you, Rock. How dare you disrespect me, Rock! I AM THE UNDISPUTED CHAMPION - I AM THE MAN YOU WILL BE FACING THIS SUNDAY AT THE ROYAL RUMBLE AND YOU HAVE NOT EVEN MENTIONED MY NAME ONE TIME! On top of that, everybody's talking about facing you at WrestleMania as if it's some kind of a foregone conclusion that you're gonna beat me this Sunday - as if I'm some kind of a fluke champion, or a transitional champion, but they can all go to hell if they thing that! And all of YOU all can go to hell if you think that! But most importantly, Rock, YOU can go to hell, too. Because there's something a lot more painful than any beating you can get, Rock, and that is the truth - because the truth hurts!" Pause for "Rock E" chant. "The truth hurts, Rock, and the truth is you had the chance to become the Undisputed champ last month at Ven gea nce, but YOU FAILED! YOU were beaten by ME! And you wanna talk about facing the Undertaker or Steve Austin at WrestleMania - you can face anybody you want at WrestleMania, but it won't be for this Championship! ["Ass hole!"] Because this championship is not yours, Rock - this championship is MINE - it's MINE - IT'S ALL MINE - IT'S ALL MIIIINE - and the truth is...Chris Jericho is the most overlooked champion in WWF history! But you know what else is the truth, Rock? At WrestleMania, I will STILL be the Champion - because this is MY championship - this is my championship, dammit, and this is my show, and this is MY--" "Whoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoawhoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! Let the Rock clarify something to you, Undisputed champion or not, this is not YOUR show...this is SmackDown!, this is THEROCK's show! And what you're failling to realise is everybody is talkin' about WrestleMania, facin' the Rock, for one reason: because THEY know, them in the back, they know, the guys in the back, they know, them, the MILLIONS...and millions of the Rock's fans, they know that the Rock...is better than you. You see the guys in the back know it, everybody around the world knows it, you know it - and you see, Chris Jericho, the truth, it does hurt - it really really hurts - but not as much as the Rock is goin' to hurt you this Sunday at Royal Rumble IF YA SUH-MELLLLLLL--" "NO!!! NO NO NO NO NO!! THIS IS NOT A JOKE! I AM NOT A JOKE! I AM SERIOUS! AND YOU WILL NOT LOOK PAST ME, YOU STUPID SON OF A (BITCH)!" Crowd chants "Rock E!" as we see tears in Jericho's eyes. Rock removes his shades...slowly leaves the ring...and walks up the ramp..."Rock E!"...until he stands face to face with Jericho. "The Rock DOES NOT THINK that this is a joke. The Rock is not smiling - he's not laughing - (slowly circles round Jericho) - so you know, (station identification - top o' the hour) the Rock is taking you very serious, Chris Jericho - dead serious, Chris Jericho - and cannot wait to whup your candyass..." Now standing behind him. "...at the Royal Rumble this Sunday night. And just so you know, and you never forget...if you ssssssssssmell...what the Rock...(nose to nose)....is cookin'." Guest X-Factor Corperation Report post Posted February 25, 2002 I'm not sure if it is a promo but the milktruck. The Jericho promo was good too. Or the Vince promo.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted February 25, 2002 Others we haven't mentioned: The DX parody of the Nation Steve Austin "Monday Nyquil" Anything during Jericho's aborted feud with Goldberg I don't know ifthis is considered a promo, but Any Piper's Pit (particularly the coconut incident) The Rock's promo on SmackDown just prior to No Mercy 2000 ("take that 2 dollar, no, 50 cent, no, buy one get one free anybody got change for a nickel...") The Angle-Austin sketches at the beginning of the Invasion Joel Gertner at Guilty as Charged 1999 Arn Anderson's retirement speech (and the nWo's parody of it) I'm sure I'm missing more. Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted February 25, 2002 If you watch some of Foley's promos from ECW and Japan the guy was a genius. But my favorite promo of all time was Foley teeling HHH the only way they could settle their feud was ....Hell in a Cell!!!
Guest cobainwasmurdered Report post Posted February 25, 2002 arn's retirement speech flair's return speech flairs last ever nitro speech austin king of the ring steve corino's speechs taunting dusty rhodes bret Hart's promo where he said (paraphrasing) "if i was going to give america an enema i would stick the hose right here in pittsburg." Guest crandamaniac Report post Posted February 26, 2002 some of my favorite promos: 1.) Cactus Jack after Wrestlemania XIV when he retired. I felt he definitely got his point across on how disappointed he was with the fans, and it was very moving. 2.)Jericho's Debut in the WWF. Perhaps the best debut of any wrestler i've ever seen. 3.)Paul Heyman befor Survivor Series. IMO, if they built the invasion on this promo, no McMahons (or at least no Stephanie) then we'd probably would have seen (Schivane mode) the greatest angle in the history of our sport (Schivane mode off). Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted February 26, 2002 Jericho's debut when the Rock was delivering a promo was hair raising. I knew when that countdown hit that it would be Jericho for some reason and when his name flashed on the Titantron, the fans went nuts, and it was a wicked 10 minutes of WWF programming. Guest hockeytown9321 Report post Posted February 26, 2002 I'd have to go with Foley's promo on SmackDown the week before No Way Out 2000. He also did a promo on Sunday Night Heat before the 2000 Rumble which does not get enough credit.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted February 27, 2002 a few more ECW moments: Steve Austin mocking Hogan, wearing Hulkmania Yellow&Red!!!!! Steve Austin explaining how he was held back in WCW Shane Douglas and Pit Bull2 "Halo" incident Lance Storm telling Douglas he was trained at CALGARY ALBERTA CANADA Dean Malenko's fairwell speech in ECW, the fans were chanting "Please don't go"
Guest KOR420 Report post Posted February 27, 2002 The week after the New Age Outlaws joined DX and destroyed Foley and Funk and Foley cut the promo the next week about how when they were carried away by EMT's the fans chanted Austins name
Guest Metallica Report post Posted March 1, 2002 * Paul Heyman's promo on Vince stealing his life/money/ideas * Bret Hart's heel turn the day after Wrestlemania 13 * Shawn Michaels' "I lost my smile" promo * Mankind/Dude Love/Cactus Jack all appearing on the TitanTron at the same time
Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted March 1, 2002 My favourite is Arn's retirement speech, with Flair's return a close second.
Guest jaCko Report post Posted March 1, 2002 I'd go with Mick Foley's promo before No Way Out in 2000. Other nominees include Austin's 1996 King of the Ring promo Bret Hart's profanity laced tirade after losing to Sid Shawn Michaels and Triple H showing the Kliq incident after Badd Blood Hulk Hogan at Bash at the Beach Shane McMahon on Nitro, only for the fact of seeing Shane McMahon on Nitro
Guest ratboy Report post Posted March 2, 2002 8/9/99--The Y2J problem emerges. Plus, Kane's got two words for ya... Highly entertaining, if not in a dumb ass sorta way.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 The famous Jake the Snake - Dibiase "the money you grovel for is your own" The Ric Flair Royal Rumble acceptance The Austin KOTR speech The last two were especially good in watching with a bunch of old-school marks who have to cheer for the good guy and had no clue about NWA/WCW. Their reactions just added to the greatness
Guest krambigmac Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Dusty Rhodes promo about how the LOD tried to blind him with the spike before Starrcade 88. It's the I'm still breathing one and that thing was so emotional, you can't forget about it.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted March 21, 2002 One of my favorite promos was Austin in ECW. He climbed up a ladder, and said, "I never got to climb to the top of WCW like this." .... "As I look down (on the Sandamn, Mikey,(I think) and Woman) I see 2 jabronies and about a $5 piece of ass. Don't get all pissed off at me honey because you're the one who married a midget not me. If I had a paper abg clothespin for my nose I might just give you a drive." My quotes are mostly accurate, either way you get the idea. Austin then grabbed Woman over his shoulder and took her to the back kicking and scraming. I love this promo and just about everything Austin did in 97. His best all a around year as a performer, IMO.
Guest Annoyed Grunt Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Anyone remember when Foley told off Rock after he thought he threw out his book? Now THAT was a good promo, too bad it really didn't lead anywhere.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted March 21, 2002 Foley got pretty hot during that interview and he certainly made it look as real as possible. Foley also had a great one where he threatened to fire HHH because he was not bigger than the WWF. I don't remember much more than that except that Foley was in some kind of cage or storage room for his office.
Guest JHawk Report post Posted March 21, 2002 The best promo I ever saw on a non-WWF, WCW, or ECW show was on an indy show in 1990. Cactus Jack was wrestling Preston Steele in the co-main. This was four months after his first NWA/WCW run ended, so he grabbed the mic and said, "I know it's been a few months since I've been on TV, but I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make any comments about how big my ass has gotten lately." The entire building was rolling.
