Let the A's dynasty commence. Now that they'll have extra money to resign the players they already have I see a bright future.

I dont really see what they did. From what I heard, the luxury tax won't be in effect until the 4th year of the deal, which is also the last year of the deal.

Isn't the luxury tax (another form of a salary cap) the big thing to get these smaller market teams competitive?

They got Rev. Sharing, and stoped contraction, those are two big deals.

It wasn't only the Twins.. but anyways, if you don't know how much this means, then I suggest you read, or watch ESPN news.

Contraction was still an issue with the Marlins and D-Rays, while the Twins have recovered and the Expos are expected to move. Either way, it's good for baseball. Now I get to watch Expos/Braves tonight!

The Yankees are already bitching, John Sterling called the luxury tax "The Yankee tax" on FOX News.

Hey, now that it's over, maybe Tony Clark will finally start rolling?

......Keep dreaming Pete.

What do you expect? These are the same people who keep kissing Miracle Fielding Boy's ass every chance they get despite every statistical evidence to the contrary.

No other teams had a chance with contraction, because the owner has to agree that he doesn't want the team. That's what they said about the Devil Rays on ESPN.

I do know how much it means, it's just rather confusing. There will be revenue sharing, but the Yankees will still have the most money, and the other teams like the Phillies will continue not to spend the money, so it may be pointless. The business parts kind of go over my head.

The actual agreement hasn't been released so maybe the small market owners agreed to spend a certain perctange of the revenue sharing on the team.

Either way this means the Twins are going to the postseason for the first time in 11 yrs.

According to ESPN they don't have to put any of the money in to the team. The money is meant to help them turn a profit, so they can use it as they want.

That's great (sarcasm). Pohlad can drop dead. He wanted to contract the Twins not Bud Selig. He better sell the team because he's not going to spend the money on the team.
