Does your team have a stiff for its union rep

Recommended Posts

Minnesota has Denny Hocking. Houston has Greg Zaun, Chicago has Joe Giradi, Pittsburgh has Kevin Young, and Tony Clark is either the Rep for Boston or A.L. player head.

Talk about All-Star players.

Yeah, but what does playing ability have to do with it?

Nothing.

I don't understand this post.

Underline "used to be", which in Red Sox Talk = "Overpay him and jack up ticket prices."

Riiight, still - none of this has to do with why they're play reps. Albilty to play the game is not what a player rep needs.

Tony Clark was a reasonable gamble for the Red Sox. He's entering his prime, and $5 million won't kill you if he underperforms.

And I love Glanville. He's a terrific personality. He's just a bad player.

Ha. ESPNEWS just had an interview with the Orioles Rep Jason Johnson, and knowing that the Press Conference was starting at 1, they tried to get an interview with him that lasted all of about 30 seconds.

How is that funny? All they're were trying to do is waste some time until they get to the Press Conference. They just wanted to get other play reps views.

Most teams elect their Team Rep. to be someone whose NOT greedy (Which is why You'll never See Bonds or Sosa) but mostly Aged vets or Intelligent young Utilty/Pitchers.

REDS get the awesomeness of Aaron Boone.

It has nothing to do with it. But Tony Clark and Joe Giradi saying all this b.s. when there lucky to have work. The reality is they should be kissing the Cubs and Red Sox ass for being such idiots.

Actually, Tony Clark was owed that salary before he signed with the Red Sox.

Glanville might not be a great player anymore, but he's a real smart guy. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in engineering. Not too shabby.

Tony Clark is the AL player Rep and Johnny Damon is the Red Sox player rep.

Clark was picked up on waivers in the off season with about 5-6 mil on his contract. Throughout his career he has produced very well when healthy, he's had a terrible year and seems to show no signs of changing that. He'll end up with a huge pay cut next year if he still wants to play. He'll be lucky to get a million with 3 hr and less than 30 rbi. But he does seem like a nice guy.

I laugh at that comment.. sad.

Why the hell is it sad?The players that shot their mouths of more than anyone where either mediocre or bad players who are lucky to be in the Major Leagues. God forbid I don't wannna hear the great Greg Zaun say the players have already given up enough.<_<

I never heard Doug Glanville or even Tony Clark really say anything. They may think what Joe Giradi or John Burkett said but their at least smart enough to keep their mouths shut and not piss off the fans.

I've heard Clark a lot on WEEI here in Boston. I;ve never heard him put his foot in his mouth like Burkettt did, he knows what he's doing and says what the fans want to hear.

But what I'm curious about is whether or not he or any other underacheiving players feel guilty for taking all that money while not earning it in the least bit.

They're not exactly earning Rodriguez money. Tony Clark and Doug Glanville will both be lucky to earn much above the minimum next year.

I understand that but $5-6 million for 3 HR and 28 RBI with a .215 AVG is crazy. Clark should give about $4 mil back just as gratitude for the team not releasing him, like they did to Garces, Oliver, and Offerman.
