Guest Leena Report post Posted August 30, 2002 This list must have Joe Theismann, right on top. Football: Dan Dierdorf, Kevin Harlan, Kenny Albert Baseball: Chris Berman (great on Primetime, annoying announcer for entire game however), Rick Sutcliffe (always sounds like a whiny teacher), Bob Costas NBA: Harlan, Bill Walton Golf: Lanny Wadkins (he just sounds so drab, and says pointless lines constantly), Dan Hicks (knows nothing of golf, and throws in little insults about the players Tennis: Mary Carillo NHL: No glaringly bad ones College: Dick Vitale

Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted August 30, 2002 Ok, here we go.... Play by Play: NFL: Verne Lundquist (nobody, and I mean NOBODY is worse) College football: Mike Tirico Baseball: Ken Harrellson College Basketball: Nobody in this category is horrendous, but I'll go with Brent Musberger NHL: Eh, nobody really. Golf: Jim Nantze Analysts: NFL: Randy Cross College football: Tie between Bob Griese, Andre Ware, and Gino Torretta Baseball: Rob Dibble College Basketball: Dick Vitale NHL: Nobody Golf: Holy cow....Ken Venturi...the worst analyst of any sport in any medium. Thank goodness for Lanny Wadkins.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted August 30, 2002 "College football: Tie between Bob Griese, Andre Ware, and Gino Torretta" What stations do Ware and Toretta work for? Last I heard, Gino was a stock broker or something. "College Basketball: Dick Vitale" Are you serious? Are you for real? Come on, Dicky V can get you pumped about an Alabama State vs. Southern Tennessee game. The only thing I don't like about him is his obsession with Duke.
Guest Leena Report post Posted August 30, 2002 Dicky V does get you pumped for a game, but hearing him throughout the entire game gets to be a little much. It's especially worse when he's covering the ACC. I forgot about Verne Lundquist, he does every sport horribly. Ken Venturi did get worse with age, but I don't see how Lanny Wadkins is any better. He sounds so dull. CBS would be better throwing someone like Clampett in that spot.
Guest The Czech Republic Report post Posted August 31, 2002 With the two big tournaments this summer, I can safely say that the dream team of Mary Carillo, Martina Navritilova, and Jim Courier at one time is like an auditory gas chamber.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted August 31, 2002 Eric Dickerson was the reporter on the field for football games and was probably the worst one at that period. Stuart Scott gets annoying trying to use rap songs as a referance for catch phrases.
Guest meanmaisch Report post Posted August 31, 2002 Stuart Scott is the most annoying sportscaster on earth and that's no easy feat, considering the trash on the airwaves right now.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted August 31, 2002 "NFL: Verne Lundquist (nobody, and I mean NOBODY is worse)" I don't have the same passion for VL as you do, but I remember a few times where he said something during the game was "ironic" several times during a broadcast. That was just plain annoying...
Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Report post Posted August 31, 2002 Any and all lists concerning "worst sportscasters" must begin with Bill Walton. I wish he'd just go away, never to return. LUNATIC - Pimpin' ho's and clockin' a grip like my name was Dolemite.

Guest Leena Report post Posted August 31, 2002 I think Lundquist is worse in golf, then football. When he gets excited in golf, he sounds like a constipated old man. Also, he has no golf knowledge. So, when there's a good shot, he yells "Well done!" or "Yes, sir!" like there's a brick coming out of his ass.

Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted September 1, 2002 NBA: Bill Walton- There are times when I've wanted to just jump through the TV and choke that tall, red-headed sack of shit. Verne Lundquist- Sometimes I wonder if he even knows what he's talking about at times. Doug Collins(before he went to be Micheal's BUTT buddy again)- He sounded like my damn dentist whenever he got "excited". Bob Costas: Don't get me wrong, the guy is great and all, but man, does he come off like a pompous ass at times. NFL: Pat Summerall- He got REALLY painful to listen to the past 4 years. Joe Theismann- Hey Joe! Why don't you break your leg to pieces again?!?! Ugh... College Basketball: Dukie Vitale- I could really like him more if he'd stop wiping Coach K's cum off his chin, ESPECIALLY during ACC games.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 1, 2002 Vern Lundquist: How many times does he say "I beg your pardon" in a broadcast? Dick Enberg:How many times does he say "Oh My" in a broadcast? Why do all these washed up dinosaurs still have jobs. Except for Keith Jackson they're a bunch of senile old men. God forbid they retire on their own. The Silver Mic crowd is an entirely different story. Bob Costas is very overrated. Not necessarily bad, but not great like he's made out to be. My biggest problem is he talks during the entire broadcast. IMO...the play by play man doesn't need to talk the entire time on TV, what's wrong with letting the game call itself. People know when a ball or strike is called, or a team is passing or running.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted September 2, 2002 Why hasn't anyone mentioned Jim Ross and Brian Bosworth? Don't y'all remember the XFL? In Seattle, we have a guy named David Locke who does the Seattle Storm WNBA games and sometimes does WSU football games. He's got a Michael Cole-like voice and demeanor about everything, like, "WHAT A BASKET OH MY GOD! STORM GO UP 2-0!"

Guest Ozymandias Report post Posted September 2, 2002 NFL: Beasely Reese (don't know if he's still employed, but it doesn;t matter - he was the worst EVER) NBA: Bob Costas - as good as he is on baseball he is downright adominable during basketball. He just applies the EXACT same broadcasting style to the NBA without having the common sense to realize that the 2 sports are a GALAXY apart.
Guest MillenniumMan831 Report post Posted September 2, 2002 I LOATHE it when Costas will start a story or try to make a point and constantly interrupt himself by doing play-by-play. Costas: Cleveland has always been notorious for . . . as we see strike one to Thome. As I was saying, Cleveland has always been notorious for being the team that, without a shadow of a doubt . . . and that pitch evens the count on Thome at 1-1. Which reminds me, back in July of 1999, I saw Thome taking batting practice and I walked up to him just as he was about to . . . and Thome pops one up to Griffey and consequently becomes the third out. Guest Leena Report post Posted September 2, 2002 Why hasn't anyone mentioned Jim Ross and Brian Bosworth? Don't y'all remember the XFL? We try not to, it makes life better. NFL: Beasely Reese (don't know if he's still employed, but it doesn;t matter - he was the worst EVER) Awww. Beasly was bad, but he was always given the matchup between the worst teams. Have some pity. I LOATHE it when Costas will start a story or try to make a point and constantly interrupt himself by doing play-by-play. Costas bores me to death, but just about all baseball announcers do that. I'd rather an announcer pay attention to the game, then completely ignore it with a boring story. Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted September 3, 2002 "College football: Tie between Bob Griese, Andre Ware, and Gino Torretta" What stations do Ware and Toretta work for? Last I heard, Gino was a stock broker or something. Andre Ware is an analyst for CBS. Torretta was an analyst for ESPN. He was awful. Maybe that's why he's a stockbroker now. Guest Strike Force! Report post Posted September 3, 2002 I actually love Bob Costas doing baseball. I associate his voice with the MLB playoffs, which I enjoy watching every year. He's absolutely awful doing NBA. Funny how one guy can be so good doing one sport and so bad doing another. Keith Jackson was sort of hard to listen to last night during USC/Auburn. But, much like Dick Enberg, I tolerate him because his voice is so old school and makes me realize I am watching college football.
