The 4th Horseman?

Recommended Posts

Guest SteveK

I watched both NWA and WWF in the late 1980's, and I know Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, and Ric Flair were Horseman, but who was the fourth member? Was it Ole Anderson? I just cannot place him: All I remember were Ric's singles matches and Arn and Tully, but nothing about the 4th guy.

The fourth member of the original Horsemen was Ole Anderson.  HE was dumped by the Horsemen in January '87 and Lex Luger took his place.  Luger was a Horsemen until December '87 when the Horsemen dumped him after a Bunkhouse battle royal when the final guys in were Arn, Tully, Luger, and J.J. Dillion.  Arn and Tully eliminatd themselves for Dillion, but Luger eliminated Dillion and took the victory for himself.  He was dumped right then.  Barry Windham became the 4th Horsemen in April '88 when Windham turned on Luger in a match against Arn and Tully.  Flair, Arn, Tully, and Windham were the Horsemen until Arn and Tully left for the WWF in September '88.  Flair, Arn, Tully, and manager J.J. Dillion were in the Horsemen from the beginning in 1986 until Sept. '88.

Just as a little side note. The Horsemen group would start to tarnish when they reformed in 1993. Less than talented members would join. The last good Horsemen was in late '95-early '96 with Flair, Anderson, Pillman & Benoit.

Ah, it must have been Windham that I remember.

I missed the various incarnations of the Horseman as I tuned out in the early 90's until late '98.

How long were Mongo, Malenko, and Benoit Horseman?

Mongo was a Horsemen from June 1996 - Feb. 1999. Benoit was a Horsemen from late 1995-1999. Malenko was a Horsemen from late 1998-1999. The Horsemen were somewhat broken up in 1998, as Flair & WCW had a lawsuit going on.

After Arn returned to the NWA, it was Flair Arn Ole and Sting.  Then Sting got kicked out and Barry and Sid came in to make it 5 since Ole didn't wrestle.  When did Barry and Sid join in 90?  I know Barry was in it before but I mean the 1990 incarnation.

Flair, Benoit, Malenko, and Mongo. I believe it ended when Flair left Benoit in match for the tag team titles. It was against Raven and Kanyon, then Saturn came down, helped Benoit and they won the titles. Soon after, the Revolution started. Flair made his group that consisted of David Flair, Torrie Wilson, Arn Anderson, and Charles Robinson. Dean joined the Revolution and Mongo left wrestling.

There were only 3 Horsemen left during their last run in '99. Flair & "Mongo" wrestled against Nash & somebody (Hall?), then Hogan came out, threw a bucket of "bleach" into "Mongo's" eyes. "Mongo" was never seen or mentioned again. So there was only Flair, Benoit, Malenko left with Arn as manager.
