Guest godthedog Posted August 31, 2002 Report Posted August 31, 2002 if this topic's been done before, i apologize & you can just let it die. so, simple: who is/was the best babyface, and why? my personal choice: ricky steamboat. every little thing he did made the crowd root for him. he knew EXACTLY when to look strong & kick the other guy's ass, he knew when to look vulnerable. he wasn't afraid to sell his ass off (and boy could he sell his ass off), & even when he did sell his ass off, he always still made him look strong by always trying to fight back. his speed while he was on offense was incredible, and when he was mounting a comeback he would always take the time to gradually gain his momentum, to make it a struggle for him to regain control & get the crowd further into it. hulk hogan never put little touches like that into his matches.
Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Ricky Steamboat or Tito Santana.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Steamboat was. Bret Hart was a good one too. Currently...I guess RVD...since he's always over.
Guest nWoScorpion Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Hulk Hogan porbably. Bret Hart is up there too but the anti-american (oh god) scenario killed that.
Guest gwf0704 Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Kerry Von Erich Dusty Rhodes Ricky Steamboat Bill Goldberg
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 Ricky Steamboat- As far as I know, he's never been a heel and plus he's never had the fans completely turn on him a la Hogan.
Guest The Ruthless Aggressor Posted September 1, 2002 Report Posted September 1, 2002 I would say The Rock because he's been an over face for so long, but he always gets booed at the major events. Steve Austin was always hugely over, so I'll say hm.
Guest dreamer420 Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 hulk hogan - had easily the best babyface run in wrestling history. I seriously doubt that anyone will ever come close to the popularity of Hulkamania. ricky steamboat - never had a run as a heel but he was so loved that it didn't matter. I'm not sure the fans would have bought into a heel Steamboat anyway. sting - easily the best and biggest babyface in wcw's history. he was constantly the most over guy in the company and remained loyal right to the end. actually, now that I think about it, STING gets me vote over Hogan.
Guest ArkhamGlobe Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Steamboat, for the same reasons that have been stated by others above.
Guest razazteca Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 Booker T should never ever turn heel again Rick Steiner as the barking dog face gremlin and 1/2 of a great tag team
Guest kingkamala Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 The Top 3 faces of all time #3 Bill Goldberg: No matter what WCW could do to this guy, turn him heel, job him to Nash, put him in feuds with Rick Steiner, Tank Abbott and Totally Buff he was always over as a babyface. He didn't pack arenas in WCW's later days but he still got some of the loudest pops in wrestling. He's what most marks want to see a good guy destroy the heel in 30 seconds. He may be an egotistical prick but if he wasn't mishandled by WCW he'd be the top draw in wrestling today and WCW might not have been dead. #2 Sting: WCW signed Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage Lex Luger and tried to push these guys to the top but Sting was still getting as loud if not louder pops then all of these guys. From Ric Flair to Jeff Jarrett he feuded with nearly every top heel in WCW from 1989 to 2001 for at least a few months. Even when he turned heel he was still getting loud pops everynight. Sting may not have been the best wrestler or even a good one put he put his heart and soul into the business up till the end and that ladies and gentleman is what a babyface is #1 Ricky Steamboat: Short and simple Steamboat never turned on his fans in his twenty some odd years career.
Guest dreamer420 Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 Booker T should never ever turn heel again no shit. I really hope the WWE has learned their lesson with Booker T
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Well it comes down to these people. Sting was a PURE babyface. Infact, the most over babyface of any company. bottomline. Hogan, Goldberg, Austin, Rocky, Billy Graham, and Flair were all tweeners who fought heels to be baby faces. Armdragon is number 2 in my book as best baby face. But I still go with Sting.
Guest The Notorious CRD Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 My picks: 1. Sting 2. Ricky Steamboat 3. Hulk Hogan
