I'm sure I'm not the only one. Might as well state your age as well. I'm 18, and a freshman in college. I'm straight edge until 21, at which point I determine whether or not I wish to remain straight edge. I see no reason (yet) to change.

They're more like skaters that need to die, but still. I'm not saying you're like that at all; rather, you seem pretty cool. This makes me think that the guys I know really need to shut the hell up... Anyway ... I'm 16; I don't smoke anything, I rarely drink (and even then I don't get drunk). When I'm older I'll probably drink a little more than I do now.. So, once every four months instead of once every seven months or so. I'm not against getting high once in a while...

We could afford fire or barbed wire or tacks or high places, so we just beat the shit out of each other with whatever we found in a friend's garage. I was the person who could "take" unprotected chair shots. My friend K.O.'ed me with one shot legit. Wasn't fun. Glad I stopped.

My buddy used to be, though, Sandman, and if you're really into the SE thing, you have to stop eating meat too. He didn't eat meat for about a year and a half.

I drink, I drink, yes I do! I drink to excess, how 'bout you? Actually, I do it once every four months or so on average. A couple of Saturdays ago was my first time since November. I know my limits. I'll probably try weed just to see what it's like, but I don't see myself smoking tobacco ever. I know damn well I'm going to do hallucinogenic stuff at one point, because I'm incredibly curious about that stuff, and I want to see if images I create myself are weirder than the images some chemicals make. I know how all the drugs work and how to get them naturally through simple behaviours(dopamine through smiles and laughter, for example), so drugs don't figure in that much with anything. I know one thing though: I always am and always will be the life of the party. As long as it's a choice of health as opposed to religious causes, straightedge people don't bother me as long as they don't remind me of it or do it only so they can blackmail others because their friend is drunk and they're sober and... I won't get into it. Not remembering stuff can be exhilirating for people like me who remember EVERYTHING, even when drunk. I know that if I can't remember something from when I was drunk, I hit my limit, and remember how much it took. Fo sheez, Kotzenjunge

However, I do not listen to shitty music (such as Earth Crisis), so I don't qualify as Straight Edge. They all seem to have to listen to hardcore and marker a giant X on each hand, and most of them are simply skater punks. I tried smoking once, pestering my sister's boyfriend when I was 10 to let me have a drag; the results are predictable (coughing and swearing never to touch one again). I drank off and on for about a year when I was a freshman in HS, but haven't had a drop in over 11 years. I got high twice, because the first time it sucked, so I wanted to see if I was really missing something. So I did it again, and the results were the same: I got tired, hungry, and developed a headache. That was around the same time I drank, so it's been a good while, and I haven't had any of the stuff since. If you wanna do that sort of shit, whatever; not my sort of thing. But be aware that there are people like me working in the stores you frequent, and if you go in one of them trashed and being obnoxious, you will be thrown out. That is all.

My experiences with both alcohol and marijuana have been predominately good, so I don't see any reason not to pursue that sort of thing in the future. I've got no problem with other people abstaining, however. I don't particularly like sharing anyway.

And I have had Mike's hard but I don't think that really counts cause I only had a can... So I don't do any of that stuff regulary, but I have tried a bit of alcohol...

I hate the grainy taste of ordinary beer, hate the burning feel of hard liquor, and can't get drunk fast enough on stuff like Smirnoff to make it worth the trouble. Having a pretty high natural tolerance for the stuff doesn't help. Smoking: it'll probably kill me a few decades from now, but I love it. Especially that first one after I haven't had 'em for a while, oooooooh yeah. Hits me harder than an entire six-pack of drinkable toxins. However, I'm still just a part-time smoker (i.e., still live at home, mom would murder me if she knew, so I can't do it often). Illegals: actually haven't tried any. I'm afraid to. I think I'd like them.

I had my grandparents die of cancer, so I'll never smoke. I've drank some when I was younger, and didn't like it. I'm fucked up enough already so I don't need drugs. However, I love red meat and couldn't go vegan for money. I heart protein and I'm not eating a pissload of beans for it. As for the religion, I am an athiest, and after four years of a Jesuit education, I can safely say that I will not be picking up a bible within the next ten years. As for music, the louder, sicker, nastier, faster, vicious, and brutal it is, I love it. I can even (kinda) sing death metal, where you just growl the words. Makes karoke night interesting... So, am I still straight edge, or just a modified version? I don't know anything anymore...::Cries himself to sleep in the corner::
