The attendance was estimated at about 700 fans. Thanks to Ivan Rothstein for the results.

Laurie Fullington woke up the Sandman with a beer.

MAIN EVENT

Champion: "The Franchise" Shane Douglas w/ Lizzy Borden Defeated Challenger: "The Living Legend" Terry Funk in 6:25.

The match was taken around the Arena, it wound up in the Merchandise tables.

Shane hit Funk with a piece of wood and slashed Terry's arm badly. There was blood everywhere.

I believe Terry left in an ambulance.

I received two very good reports on the show.

Shane Douglas said the former ECW Arena would now be known as the XPW Arena.

And the next show was announced for October 5th.

Fuck You Shane Douglas....the ECW Arena will NEVER be known as XPW arena. Never.

Hey, it's the "let's get as many washed-up former ECW stars as possible on our shows, but we're more extreeeeeeeme than they ever were!" embarassment that is XPW. I count no less than 9 former wrestlers of the Big 3rd, 10 if you count Laurie Fullington.

I'm serious.

My college roomie lives 20 minutes outside of Philly, and he's going home next week.

If it is official that Rob Black bought Viking Hall, I go to Philly and I burn it to the ground.

No kidding.

WTF? Does that mean he's going to stay out there a while? Is he still going to allow other feds to use the arena?

If Black & crew stayed in So Cal, I could conceivably have seen a live show eventually, as it would be a road trip of a few hours as opposed to a few days... that sucks!

Jingus, how DARE you post in an XPW thread before MY CZW thread! :D

Yeah, but I'm making fun of XPW, and the worst thing I could say about the CZW show is that I wouldn't have jobbed out Zandig and Necro in the opening round.

I love how XPW was soooo anti ECW...yet, the only way they even got noticed was by their huge roster of ex ECWers

FACT: ECW was in business for 8 years

FACT: XPW...has not been

God, I can't wait till charges are brought against Black for his attack on Messiah...does anyone even think it's NOT him?

I'll call the damn thing Viking Hall before I call it the XPW arena.

R.I.P. ECW Arena

sheesh, xpw puts on a good show and u guys still bash xpw. ya know, when czw 1st started they bashed ecw just like xpw did when the 1st started, then went on and had shows with kronus, crazy, dreamer, tajiri, and then after COD III, they had an entire invasion of past ecw stars. and them buying the arena is bs, it was just an angle used to draw heat for douglas. if xpw bought the arena why arent they coming back until oct 5th? because other promotions are using the space and have been booked already.

Apparently after the show Funk sucker-punched Douglas.

This report sponsored by Deluxe WWE Undisputed Heavyweight Title Belt! Available now with Brock Lesnar's nameplate on it!

This is a detailed report on the backstage fiasco that occured after The Shane Douglas-Terry Funk match at The ECW Arena last night.

Funk had cut his arm severely causing the match to be stopped. Douglas came back to the locker room first. He demanded towels for Terry immediately and the doctor was notified immediately and was ready. Funk came back and was looked at immediately.

When Shane walked over to check on Terry, he was met with a Stiff Left Hook to the mouth.

Shane went ballistic. He tried to get to Funk several times only to be restrained by Atlas Security, XPW officials and anyone else close enough to grab him. The locker room was cleared out and all cameras were ordered turned off. Shane was finally taken out of the locker room very irate. Douglas was in a rant for over 10 minutes.

Finally with several people standing around him, Funk was escorted to a waiting ambulance. His condition is unknown.

Things like this do happen in locker rooms unfortunately. Usually not of this nature, but things do happen. Terry probably shouldn't have punched Shane in front of the boys. Shane should have walked away and handled it in the ring next time. Unfortunately, hind sight is 20/20 and going off after someone punches you in the mouth is understandable.

This also screws up XPW booking potentially, as this storyline was going to be drawn out over a few shows. Now, you have to wonder if those two can do business with each other.

Needless to say, Terry Funk has a reciept coming from Shane Douglas if they ever meet again.

Take it easy on Emaxsaun. He's the SmartMarks' only XPW mark, and he's man enough to admit when they suck, which makes it all the more frustrating when he tries to defend their good parts to sarcastic assholes like myself you guys. Poor, deluded fella; you can still save yourself, Emax! Come mock all things Rob Black with us, come over to the dark siiiiiiiiiiide!!!

I will fly to Philly myself and I will help you. It's the least I can do.

see? jingus is the only smart one here, he knows that im not a blind xpw mark that chants "xpw roooolz dudes! XP DUB XP DUB XP DUB!!!!" i admit when they suck, i admit when they are shitty, and i admit when rob black acts like a dumbfuck. xpw has put out some great stuff over the years, but xpw has also put out some stuff that is the worst i have ever seen. and rob black is smart, douglas is now running all creative things at xpw.

....oh, and here is a video clip from the show

http://www.xpwrestling.com/clipoftheweek/w.../welcomeback.rm

and it was stated by build officals that the offical count of people there was 940, with 36 comps.

Yeah, but Douglas & Funk are both boring & old (one moreso than the latter). They sucked in 1994, they gotta suck even more now.

You have to wonder how smart a move this is on Black's part. If they are indeed going to start running more shows in Philly then he's made an early grave for XPW. I mean he moved his fed right into the middle of ECW country and we know the history between the two.

And when NWA TNA finally starts travelling with shows XPW will be in big trouble.

Plus it's kind of sad when one of the guys in the main event is pushing 60. I mean any fan of XPW has just removed their right to comment on WCW.

I really don't like the crap about changing the ECW to the XPW arena. I doubt that would happen but I guess you never do know in the wrestling business.

Does anyone actually know who owns the arena right now? My guess is that ECW had to sell it or give it as part of them going bankrupt.

A bunch of us should trick Rob Black into a room of the most rabid, hardcore ECW fans we can find and lock the door. I bet he would never walk out of that room alive. :P

I don't agree with that. Black is bringing back as many ECW talents as possible so you think the rabid ECW fans would be appreciative. Obviously they still hate Black with a passion but at least he hasn't blackballed all for ECW talents from working in his company. At least this way you have a chance to see those wrestlers perform again, albeit for a different company.

nah, its still viking hall, but i will still never call it anything besides the ecw arena. the thing about douglas buying the arena is bs, he has a contract there, just like czw, roh, etc have. its like every time xpw comes there its the xpw arena, and when czw comes its the czw arena. xpw bought a contract to wrestle there, not the arena it self. and rob black does shit for xpw right now besides helping out back stage and supplying the cash. douglas is now in charge of everything creative, he started with LOD and NOC being back stage and then at HT he was in complete creative control, and it showed. the show didnt suck, it was actaully stellar. he promoted the shit out of it and had 940 people there. he did a good job. the shows leading up to HT were getting better, and when HT came around the show went off without a hitch.

I'll give credit where credit is due, and say that the XPW didn't seem too bad.

However, I will never support them, and the reason that I will never support XPW is the same reason that I will never support ROH: I do not like the promoter. You can say, "support the talent," but the talent work for the promoter. When I think of ROH, I think of Rob Fagstein; when I think of XPW, I think of Rob Black; when I think of WWE, I think of Vince McMahon. Rob Black may not be in creative control of XPW, but it is still his company.

As long as Rob Black is associated with XPW, I will never watch or support them.

Here's a question to ECW fans...

Do you think the former ECW talent "sold out" by working for XPW?

It's not like they make a comfortable living working there, like they would in WWE. So that reason isn't there. ECW talent can pretty much name any price (within reason) on the indy scene, so why work for a group of assholes who did their best to start shit while ECW existed?

Because Rob Black pays his wrestlers more than just about any other indy promoter, because of the cash cow that is his porno business.

Call him the Ted Turner of porno.

As a longtime ECW supporter I was never that big of an XPW fan when ECW was still around. I seen that as a rival that was only trying to start shit.

After ECW died and a lot of their talent went to XPW I realized that XPW is just another company trying to make it like ECW was. I certainly didn't agree with all the things ECW did during their existance so why take offence to XPW?

When I started to look at XPW as another small fish in the WWE owned private swimming pool, I gained more respect for them. If some former ECW guys can start up for another company and hopefully put it on the map then I am all for it.
