Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted September 6, 2002 First, Dreamer, when I get my own radio show next year, the quote in your title is going to be what kicks it off. As for your question, as weird as this may sound, XPW and CZW are two different beasts. To me, XPW seems more like sports entertainment, and CZW is more like wrestling. I've seem both in only limited quantities, which will be changing soon once I order my CZW videos next week, but you have two companies looking to create their own niche with two different means. Rob Black and XPW can afford to create controversy, to stir shit up, to get attention to themselves by any means necessary, simply because Black has the financial means to cover up any mistakes, unless Black makes a massive error. Black can afford to bring in the former ECW names on a regular basis. Black can afford to waste money on a human train wreck such as John Kronus. (Though, to be fair, CZW has wasted money on Kronus as well, also as recently as this year.) Also, until recently, XPW was on the west coast, and the Los Angeles wrestling scene is different from the Philadelphia wrestling scene. Are there people there who can't wrestle? Absolutely. Pogo, Supreme, Kraq, and others have limited to no talent whatsoever. However, men such as Kaos, Vic Grimes, and formerly Messiah were able to entertain the audiences. CZW is on the other side of the country, trying to make it in an overcrowded Philadelphia market, where one horrific show can cripple your organization. Fat Frank, Blue Meanie, Rob Feinstein, and John Zandig are all fighting for the largest piece of a limited pie, and unless you bring your A-game to the table every time, the other companies will pass you by. When you ask a person what they think of when they hear CZW, they will say something among the lines of sick fucks who cut each other with weedwhackers and lighttubes and other sharp stuff. While this is true, CZW also has some of the best wrestlers on the east coast. Justice Pain, the Backseat Boys, Messiah, Nick Mondo, Adam Flash, Nick Berk, and others are all CZW regulars, willing to go out and bust their asses every show, knowing that one bad performance could ruin the company. Now, CZW has a reputation that allows it to make some mistakes, but does not have the financial resources that XPW does. They are literally forced to live and die with their fan base. If the fan base decides to move on, CZW's source of income is gone, and the fed dies. XPW can take the risk of moving the entire federation across the country, and compete for a piece of an already overcrowded market. If CZW was to hold regular shows in Los Angeles, they would go out of business within months, unless they were able to draw four-digit crowds on a regular basis. Neither promoter is a paragon of virtue either. Rob Black has done more disguisting stuff then could be mentioned in this rant, as well as some stuff we don't know about. From threatening to feed a dog to a snake, to ALLEGEDLY having the Messiah attacked, as well as the nature of his income, Black will not be winning any citizen of the year awards. Zandig is known for being territorial with his workers, and engaging in a pissing contest with Rob Feinstein and Ring of Honor. Also, Zandig can be considered the driving force that crippled Big Japan, and nearly put the company out of business with bad booking. But, if you put an XPW tape and a CZW tape in front of me, 10 times out of 10, I will take the CZW tape. Why? The product appeals to me, and XPW's product does not. I am not an authority on his figure. A person like Bob Magee would be much more informative on this subject then I would. I do hope, however, that I have been able to shed a little personal insight on this situation.
Guest dreamer420 Report post Posted September 6, 2002 Well put Sandman. To be honest I have only seen one complete XPW show and one complete CZW show and they really didn't seem all that different to me. Both companies had wrestlers who worked their asses off, and both companies had guys who were complete wastes in the ring. To me right now, any wrestling company that is staying afloat is good in my books and I will support any company that at least tries to give the fans what they want to see. I know Rob Black is a fucker and threatens to do some really dumb shit, but as long as his dumb shit doesn't spill over into his wrestling company than I got no problems with him. btw, what do you think a czw/xpw merger could do for the wrestling business right now? Guest EMAXSAUN Report post Posted September 11, 2002 no i dont think so cause zanding is an ass who runs around screaming "XPW SUCKS" holding up signs that say the same, and shooting on them at shows when xpw has never said one thing about czw
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted September 11, 2002 Why would anyone use there money or time to watch XPW? You could get 3 friends and jump around your back yard and the product would be about as entertaining? Niko
