Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 24, 2002 ...but the bands weren't TECHNICALLY local as I live in Massachusetts, and they're all from/in Rhode Island, so BLAH! Anyways, decent show. Soulcheck (I think that's their name...it could be Soulscratch) did a hardcore cover of "Larger Than Life" by BSB...major mark-out moment...but other than that, they LOOKED like they should be doing Orgy, Marilyn Manson, and Godhead covers, but they sounded like Mudvayne, which is pretty bad. Dedset, the band I went to see, put on a decent show. The music is good, nothing like what I usually listen to, but they do put on a great live show. Brian, their guitarist, is probably the most energetic person of the band. Picture Josh from Tough Enough, a little taller and less muscle, with a guitar, and having spasms as he plays a complicated aggro riff. That's Brian. Dedset's vocalist looks like a fatter and hairier Chino (Deftones). All in all, the show was decent. The pit was practically non-existent. Hell, the pit at a show for bands from my high school was three times the size. When we (my buddies Drew and Emily, and Drew's mother) were walking out of the club (MetCafe in Providence), we walked past Lupo's, a club where the almighty SLAYER played about a month ago. It was roughly half the size of my school's cafeteria, and my parents wouldn't let me go to Lupo's because it was a club. Bastards...

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 New England? Good music? Heh...isn't that somewhat of an oxymoron? But hey, when The Freeze get back over to the US, and decide to do some local shows, I'm SOOO there. Same goes for SHADOWS F'N FALL.

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 I may not go to the 'Fest...spent all my money last night on seeing Super Troopers (funny as hell, ***1/2) and buying the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back DVD (Collector's Edition! WHOOO~!~). But perhaps I can find enough spare change to use one of those CoinStar thingies to get myself a few bucks...but even then I still probably wouldn't go to the 'Fest, and instead check out Mushroomhead down in Providence.
