Guest Karnage Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 What's your favourite cult horror movie? You know those ones released by MGM and Anchor Bay on DVD all the time.
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 *looks at watch to time how long it'll be before Dawn of the Dawn or the Evil Dead flicks will be mentioned*
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Oh wait, I just did. Never mind.
Guest J*ingus Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 I don't think either of those are really obscure enough to be considered "cult". Here's a few for contention: Tombs of the Blind Dead (and its sequels) Dark Angel: The Ascent Curse of the Cat People Zombie The Kingdom Eyes of Fire The Fog Nosferatu (1979 remake) Cannibal Holocaust I Spit On Your Grave
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 I guess so, even Simpsons did a Dawn of the Dead parody.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 I liked Basket Case a lot... I was even legit scared the first time I saw it (no idea why though). I also rented this really rare HK horror film that Something Weird has on video called The Killer Snakes... print/image quality is terrible, really dark and with red specks all over, but it's a pretty damn good movie.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Would Killer Klowns from Outer Space count?
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Motel Hell is one of my favourites. Same with The Car, and the Anchor Bay DVD of that film rocks.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Killer Condom. Hell, count me in for most of Troma's stuff.
Guest ArkhamGlobe Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Do Re-Animator and Roger Corman's version of the Fall of the House of Usher count?
Guest Karnage Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 I guess they count...its just a poll, no need to ask that.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Evil Dead counts. If Rocky Horror Picture Show counts, Evil Dead counts. Mine...and there are a few... Return Of The Living Dead Dead Alive Evil Dead Evil Dead II Zombie The Dead Hate The Living! Ginger Snaps Re-Animator Tromeo & Juliet The Toxic Avenger Terror Firmer Surf Nazis Must Die! Monster In My Closet The Convent Night Of The Living Dead (it's a classic, but it's still considered cult) Big Money Hu$tla$ (ICP's first movie, and one of the funniest flicks I've ever seen)
Guest Zack Malibu Posted September 2, 2002 Report Posted September 2, 2002 Sleepaway Camp or Toxic Avenger would be #1 for me.
Guest converge241 Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Seven Doors Of Death was very surprised I found it on DVD
Guest Youth N Asia Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Well...everyone's sadi Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Sleepaway Camp, and all the others I was gonna say. SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT!!!! This movie owns
Guest Doomsault Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Hey Converge, I'd advise you to sell that shitty Seven Doors of Death and buy the real version: "The Beyond". Seven Doors of Death was just a crappy, less violent version that was released in America. It just sucked. Get the "Beyond" which is basically an uncut version of the same movie. I'm sure Chud will second me on this.
Guest C.H.U.D. Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT!!!! This movie owns Yes, that movies DOES own. PUNISH!!
Guest benoitrulz4life Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 Whoops, forgot to log my brother out. I'm NOT Doomsault. There is a very distinct difference, mainly I'm older, I post less, I watch more wrestling, and I hate anime. Guest Youth N Asia Posted September 3, 2002 Report Posted September 3, 2002 PUNISH!! NAUGHTY!! I did something to make the CHUD proud...I gots my Sleepaway Camp set today!! WHOO!! gonna stay up late and watch pt 1
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Silent Night, Deadly Night is pretty fun, but aren't there like 4 or 5 sequels, all of which suck? I think the first sequel is the guys' brother and they replay like 30 minutes of footage from the first film.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Do I even need to mention my favorite movie ever, Chopping Mall? I guess so... by the way, I wrote New Concorde (which has the rights to most Roger Corman's films, including Chopping Mall) a letter asking if there were any DVD releases of the film planned. I'll let you guys know if I get a response. If nobody else does it, I swear some day I'll get money (even if I have to borrow it) and do it myself. I love that film so much...

Guest MrRant Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Mine would be Chopping Mall and the 2 Un-Namable movies.

I think the first sequel is the guys' brother and they replay like 30 minutes of footage from the first film. Silent Night, Deadly Night part 2 contains at least 30 minutes of footage from part 1. Personally, I actually like part 2 more, because they show all the best footage, plus you get Eric Freeman's incredibly hammy performance as Ricky spliced in with the footage. I can't wait for the DVD next year.
Guest permagrinning Posted September 7, 2002 Report Posted September 7, 2002 Mine would have to be Dead Alive. Zombie chopping scenes with the lawnmower. Screwing zombies. Demonic wombs of over-possessive mothers and rat demons.

Guest Lethargic Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 Motel Hell is one of my favourites. Same with The Car, and the Anchor Bay DVD of that film rocks. Is that the one where they buried people up to their necks? I get Motel Hell confused with Tourist Trap.

Guest Lethargic Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 I hate things like this because I can never pick one. I mean, every saturday we watch bad horror movies. We've done that for years so I have a huge backlog of movies to pick for a category like this. I did a review of what we picked out as our 10 favorites which you can see here. But there are just so many more than that. 2000 Maniacs. Deafula. Splatter Farm. Death by Dialogue. The Prey. The Devil Bat. Pieces. Flesh Feast. Three on a Meat Hook. Equinox. Microwave Massacre. Gargoyles. Gore-Met Zombie Chef from Hell. Maniac. The Gates of Hell. The Alligator People. Horror House on Highway 5. American Gothic. The Maze. Horror of Party Beach. Blackenstein. Bloody New Year. Catman of Paris. Clown House. It's Alive. Jack Frost. Uncle Sam. Magic. Night of the Bloody Apes. My Bloody Valentine. Mother's Day. Mortuary. Slaughterhouse Rock. Rock and Roll Nightmare. The Video Dead. How do you choose? I guess I'll pick one of the most obscure. Nekromantik. It's a German horror movie about a couple that likes to have sex with dead bodies. It's awesome. There have even been rumors that some of the scenes are more real than you'd imagine. ha ha The best scene is where the main character masturbates while he commits suicide by stabbing himself with a large butcher's knife. He of course begins to shoot blood out of his dick. Magnificent movie.
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 Cool... yea, I ran into a similar dilemma when I went to Hollywood Video today. It's my last "free ride" since I'm moving into college next week, and I'll actually have to pay for my rentals. I ended up trading in Time of the Apes (most shameless Planet of the Apes rip-off I've EVER seen, I was looking forward to it) for the new Stuart Gordon DTV (I guess because I never heard about it before) release Dagon. I've always wanted to see The Alligator People too... "I'll get you Alligator Man! Just like I'd get any four-legged gator!" I've seen Uncle Sam and it rules so much. I own Jack Frost on DVD but think its overrated (I like the sequel better), and even though you probably wouldn't be able to find it for rent anywhere, in I think October Something Weird Video is putting out a special edition DVD for Night of the Bloody Apes. Can't remember what the other movie is though (gotta love those double features )
