Y'know what would be really cool? If she found this thread too. Three-way tag team deathcore cage-slam feud-match! w00t!

'kay, I just used all the wrestling words I've ever seen or heard in my life and I'm sure some of them made absolutely zero sense in context. Oh well.

Not bad, Marney. I wouldn't have used "slam," though.

Oh, I'm sure he'll direct her to it or something. Since I posted the exact words of all involved, at least she can't accuse me of putting words in her mouth.

Yeah, the "slam" wasn't needed. I guess we aren't all fans here.

I used to sneak downstairs (wasn't allowed to see violent stuff, not ladylike) and watch it until I discovered it was all fake. That was when I was around 8 or 9 - the same time I found out Santa Claus was really just Daddy.

I use to hate wrestling, but that changed a couple of years ago. I wish I could remember what prompted me to start watching it.

My reignition of interest was one night in May of 1998 when I saw McMahon training for a match with Austin at the end of the night. This was also the first show they won the ratings with. I consider it meant to be. Took me a while to get up to speed on the angles, but I did.

Watched it ever since.

Fo a long time,

Kotzenjunge

EDIT: Of all the threads that I expected this to turn into, a "when did you start watching" thread was least expected.

I've been watching since I was about eight. The first thing I ever saw was Shawn Michaels superkicking Marty Janetty through a barbershop window. I was hooked.

When I first watched it is a different story. I stopped from 1996(my last memory being the Iron Man match) to 1998. In the meantime, the first thing I remember watching ever was an All Star Wrestling(you all remember that show on USA, right?) and them talking about the Earthquake attack on Hogan.

I began watching around Wrestlemania III. I took the mid 90's hiatus from wrestling as I grew into an adolescent and saw WWF as juvenile. I rediscovered wrestling in my adulthood when I saw Survivor Series 98 with some friends in college, and began watching regularly thereafter.

In retrospect, I guess I also took a bit of a break in the mid 90s. There's huge chunks of stuff that I don't remember, but I vividly recall the build to the main event at WrestleMania XII. I think the thing that got me watching again was catching the Slammy Awards right before WM XIII. Then I discovered "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, became a total mark for him, and started watching again religiously.

Well, if there's one thing we learned from this thread, it's these things:

I'm a self-centered bastard.

Never be honest.

The WWF lost a lot of viewers in the mid-90s.

Come on kids, let's go home.

Fo everyone who worked on the show,

Kotzenjunge

Yes, let's take it home. I've finished the assignment I was working on in between dicking around here, and I'm about to kick back, relax, and watch Stop Making Sense for the first time. I'll see you folks again at some indeterminate point in the future.

Toodles.

I'm about to go quietly fuck off myself. I have a shitload of work to get caught up on.
