Guest Incandenza Report post Posted September 2, 2002 I've never been into live albums. They so rarely capture the experience of what it's like to be there in person. That said, Radiohead's I Might Be Wrong EP is okay, as long as you exclude the songs from Amnesiac.

Guest Kinetic Report post Posted September 2, 2002 My main problem with the I Might Be Wrong EP is that there are tons of live versions of "True Love Waits" and they picked the worst one. The best song is "The National Anthem," which always sounds good live, and it all sort of goes downhill from there.
Guest Incandenza Report post Posted September 2, 2002 Being that I hardly ever DL music, the only version of "True Love Waits" I've heard is the EP one, and I like it quite a bit.
Guest Kinetic Report post Posted September 2, 2002 I downloaded tons of Radiohead stuff for awhile there and also got a bunch of bootleg CDs from a British guy my dad worked with. The first live version of "True Love Waits," which dates from around '95 or '96, is more or less identical to the one on the EP but with a nice keyboard loop in the second verse. Thom's voice is a little less grating, too. The live version of "Motion Picture Soundtrack," taken from a radio station broadcast, is really spectacular, too. Probably better than the one on Kid A. I could go on.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted September 2, 2002 The Who, Live At Leeds. The best, bar none. Another favorite that doesn't get much notice: Portishead's live disc, PNYC. One might think of them as a pure studio band, but man, throw in a full orchestra...wowie. Wonderful stuff, featuring the best songs off of both their full-length albums in Roseland Ballroom glory. Guest MaxPower27 Report post Posted September 3, 2002 I second DrainYou42's nomination of Alice in Chains, Unplugged. That entire CD is great, as is Nirvana's MTV one. No love for Pantera's 101 proof? I thought redbaron, being a Pantera Mark, such as myself, would have nominated that one. I agree with Incandenza, though. Most live CD's don't capture the mood. The audio is usually pretty bad, etc. My top 5: (No particular order) -Alice in Chains: Unplugged -Nirvana: Unplugged in NY -Pantera: Live 101 proof -Eagles: Hell Freezes Over -Metallica: S&M
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 3, 2002 The Who: Live at Leeds is awesome. Also, Rush: Exit, Stage Left. That has an incredible version of YYZ. and of course, my favorite live album ever, SLAYER-Decade of Aggression.

Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted September 6, 2002 Kiss Alive! is the best live album ever. I have to agree. Other than that, Morrissey's 'beethoven was deaf' is absolutely fantastic as are 'suck on this' by primus and 'live and dangerous' by thin lizzy.

I liked the live tracks on Rhinoplasty more, personally. Tool's live stuff is fucking awesome as hell. I heard an import of theirs called simply, "Tool Box" that had them playing Daytripper live. Godly.

I need some live tool, i'm pretty sure i don't own any tracks.
