Didn't the label want them to do a live release? Still, a fake live album is fucking genius. Especially because they mixed in boos instead of cheers.

Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 18, 2002 Report Posted September 18, 2002 Converge-I've got to go with World Coming Down being the best TON album. Absolutely perfect mastering. IMO, it's one of the most polished CD's ever. Great songs that all flow together don't hurt, either.

I do not own the soundtrack (neither version, but I'm more specifically referring to the special rerelease from a couple of years ago, which has every song from the film--unlike the first one--and a superior sound mix, which the initial LP allegedly lacks), but it is safe to say that it is my favorite live album, with many of the tracks being equal--and, in some cases, SUPERIOR ("Heaven")--to the studio recordings.

The only reason it was released was to satisfy the big wigs personally, I've never heard it... but going on the judgement that even the band dislikes it, I'm not lying down the cash for it. There are a lot of Zeppelin boots out there that are much nicer, and available for the cost of a few blank CDrs

All the songs are interceded with weird trippy visuals and shit. Its stupid, I wish they just showed the concert. As for the music itself, the best live stuff I've heard from Zeppelin. Dazed and Confused is a fucking masterpiece.

Also i have Eric Clapton and Friends (which contain Sheryl Crow, Mary J. Blige, Bob Dylan)

The only reason it was released was to satisfy the big wigs On an interesting note, the mob-style shootout scene at the beginning of the film was supposed to be representative of the band's anger at those bigwigs for forcing them to release the album. I forget which one admitted it, but the band said that's what they felt like doing to the executives, so they put it in the film. As for the original topic, I tend not to like live albums. They either sound like shit or they sound overproduced. With that caveat, I think my favorite live album is Metallica's S&M. I liked the orchestra on there, and Metallica has always been an excellent live band.
