Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 3, 2002 The more I've thought about it and read. There where never even close to a strike. The players and Don Fehr are not stupid. They only went to deadline because they wanted to get the best deal. It wouldn't shock me if a deal in principle was agreed upon a few day earlier. I even told my brother that both sides agreed to the final deal sometime around midnight, and through out the night they would walk around outside and report false information just to mess around with media. Guest El Hijo Del Lunatic Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Just one question, then - why the hell would they do all that? LUNATIC - Pimpin' ho's and clockin' a grip lke my name was Dolemite.
Guest alkeiper Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Basically its like a game of chicken. Both sides waiting til the very last minute to get the best deal possible, while still avoiding the strike. I remember Jayson Stark being fairly confident there'd be no strike.
Guest Some Guy Report post Posted September 3, 2002 It would've looked better if they reported teh deal when it came down. They should have done this shit in the off season.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted September 3, 2002 Why would they do that. Because both sides wanted the best deal possible. Even if something drastic would of happened a final agreement couldn't be reached. The strike would of lasted 3 days max. All the talk of last Thursday being the last day was ridiculous.
