Guest O.J. Hart Report post Posted February 25, 2002 My backyard wrestling company the MVWF(Mon Valley Wrestling Federation) had its 1st "Pay-Per-View" this afternoon. The name of it was Limits Banned. It had 6 major matches. We all have several characters, mine are: -"World's Greatest Manager" D.J. Drake. He's the manager of new MVWF Champion Rieko. -"The Dark Lord of the Underworld" Vata. He and Dark Angel make up the tag team Darkside. They defeated DXX in a Dumpster match for the tag titles. His special move is the 5 Star Frog Splash. -Cshaz. He is a Mick Foley like character that lost the hardcore title to Backwards Boy at Limits Banned. His special moves are the Flowing DDT and super kick. J.R. Lewis. He is a decent lower midcard guy. His special move is the figure-four leglock. There's about 7 other guys in this, and we all have a few characters and we "fake" the moves and sell really good. We do alot of submission, high risk, and technical moves in our matches. In the match when I was Vata, I did a 5 star frog splash off my garage onto my opponent who was on a table.

Guest The Great Wesuke Report post Posted February 25, 2002 OJ: I think you will find a lot of resentment towards you and backyard wrestling on this message board, or most other wrestling message boards for that matter. Backyard wrestling, though usually fun for those involved, is considered a dangerous practice. Yes, a lot of wrestlers did learn some of their skills from backyard wrestling, but it is not the way to go about learning the ropes. Especially since most backyard wrestling "feds" don't have ropes in the first place. You and your friends are going to do more long term damage to yourselves than anything else. This is why wrestling schools begin by teaching how to take a proper bump, not: how to perform a five star frog splash off your garage through a friend on a table. Do yourself a favour and enroll in a wrestling school if you are truly interested in pursuing such practices. It is the only way you will really be taken seriously among both smarks and people in "the business". If you are simply out to amuse your fellow high school buddies, then you are probally doing a fine job and you can ignore this post. In the future you might want to post on a "high school stunts" forum.

Guest One Bad Apple Report post Posted February 27, 2002 How many people are in this federation? I wouldn't think too many if you're all playing several characters each. Not to mention how unfair it is to young guns like Cshaz and "The Dark Lord of the Underworld" Vata. I mean, how are they supposed to get their deserved shots at Rieko if you play Rieko's manager? You're just playing the parts of Cshaz and Vata to help your man keep that title. And how the fuck do you pronounce "Cshaz," anyway? There's about 7 other guys in this, and we all have a few characters and we "fake" the moves and sell really good. Yeah. In the match when I was Vata, I did a 5 star frog splash off my garage onto my opponent who was on a table. Since you stated that you weren't hardcore in the topic description, I'm curious to know why you feel that doesn't qualify as "hardcore"? Heh ... that was kinda amusing. It's even better if you read it with the sentence he put right before it. We do alot of submission, high risk, and technical moves in our matches. In the match when I was Vata, I did a 5 star frog splash off my garage onto my opponent who was on a table. At least I think it is.
Guest converge241 Report post Posted March 2, 2002 Enroll in a wrestling school or use all the characters for fantasy booking. Me and my younger brothers used to do "Safe" backyard wrestling about ten-twelve years ago. Looking back now , knowing what i do, even doing piledrivers and things like that you could cause serious injury or death.
Guest Shaved Bear Report post Posted March 3, 2002 i still wrestle with my older brother and we have fun, we get a good workout, and we dont do anything to risk ourselves, but we do toughen up

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted March 5, 2002 Just because you do something that somewhat resembles "wrestling" does not make you ANY kind of "wrestler"... If I cut animals apart in my backyard (and I don't...really), that wouldn't make me a "Backyard Vet" now would it...NO, it would make me a sick psycho...much like you, you freak. And saying you have a "federation" is laughable
Guest Matt Report post Posted March 6, 2002 Hey I used to backyard wrestle. And fucked my back up right good in doing so. but it was fun and i never did anything crazy, other than an unintentional nestea plunge off of the trampoline onto the ground. It was mainly me and a group of friends that would get together and mimic wrestling styles of existing wrestlers. I had an uncanny Terry Fnk down after a while. Guest The Superstar Report post Posted February 2, 2003 OJ, don't listen to what these guys say. Keep up the backyard wrestling. It sounds like a lot of fun!
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 ...I think I'm gonna go jump off my roof onto a flaming thumbtack-covered table now... ...and then call it "technical wrestling"...
Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Forget what other ppl say. Have fun backyard wrestling. But, the part of the bumps, that is something you must be careful about. I backyard wrestled for 2 years, December 2000 to December 2002. At first, we didn't know how to take bumps, but, a lucky break. We got some guy that went to this wrestling school in NJ. He graduated from it, and he wasn't doing anything, so, he joined our group. He has wrestled with Steve Corino, Simon Diamond, has met Dawn Marie, met most of the ECW roster. He taught us how to take good bumps. After a couple of weeks, he left, but we knew how to wrestle a bit better, and as a result, no one was ever injured. Guest godthedog Report post Posted February 2, 2003 okay, what was the motivation in digging up this thread? i myself do a little bit of backyard wrestling with some friends for shits and giggles, & nobody ever accused me of being stupid. as long as you're careful & avoid doing dumbass things (like not using a trampoline), i don't see much wrong with it. there's still a certain amount of risk involved, but hell, there's a certain amount of risk involved in riding a bike. Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Backyard Wrestling when you're Trained is perfectly fine. When you're not, you desever a broken neck.
Guest Kotzenjunge Report post Posted February 2, 2003 My friends and I try it, but it's really pathetic, and we try to be purposely bad with it, taking lame bumps and uber-fake punches. The storylines are GOLD though. I swear, my heel turn as a guest referee was genius...
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 There's an inherent risk WALKING DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS or RIDING IN A CAR that's no more dangerous than wrestling in your yard with a few friends.
Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Backyard wrestling was fun. Until I turned 18 and became an adult. And realized that I had around six concussions and a scarred up forehead. Then I realized it wasn't so much fun anymore.

Guest Dace59 Report post Posted February 2, 2003 Year old and still wrong. OK. Backyarding while not trained (Yardtarding) is DANGEROUS. You don't know how do bump, how to do stuff without hurting people. As much as you think you know, there will always be more. If you fuck up and break your neck. You're screwed. You fuck you and break your mates neck, or kill you mate. How fucking bad you going to feel then? I would point out that TRAINED wrestlers have died from such simple moves as a veritcal suplex taken wrong. If you want to wrestle around on the floor amture style, fine. If you want to get trained, that's also fine. Once you're trained, you know what you're doing, can do it safely. You'll know all the places you can and will wrestle too. And you'll probably enjoy it, cuz it's easier than in the ring. But while not trained, you desever every bit of pain you get. Yes, you get away with it, but it's just a matter of time. Hell, going ultraviolent, and whacking each other with lightbulbs and barbed wire might actually be safer than the moves themselves.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 2, 2003 When I saw this thread I thought to myself "how could this thread be 20 posts in already without me talking shit"...then I realized I already did that a year ago.

Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted February 2, 2003 The funny thing is he's right, it's probably safer to let Sandy hit you with lightbulbs then it is trying to suplex each other.

The storylines are GOLD though. I swear, my heel turn as a guest referee was genius... Oh man, you should see me and my buddies comedy fed. The Characters!: Dirty Sanchez! Big Box Man! The Cheat! Angry Black Man! P.O. McIrish! Jimmy Hatt! and the rest! The Matches!: Stairway to Honey! Happy Fun Cloud in the Cell! and the others! It's great fun. We film it during bad matches of PPV's (which gives us a LOT of time to film) and nobody gets hurt. The finisher to end all finishers is a jawbreaker, for god's sake. Nothin but fun. and OJ, you're an idiot...no offense...
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted February 2, 2003 If you want to smash lighttubes over somebody, just do it. You don't need to wear the mask of backyard wrestling. That's how it was for me when I was younger. We didn't have matches or characters. It was just, "Hey guys, watch me dive off the dumpster into a pile of thumbtacks!"
