Yes... the greatest show on earth. Myself and APO are mega fans and I propose a starting of a new faction on the board.... yes that's right. The Church of NO MA'AM. I will be deemed the Reverend Rant as I am ordained and also because I started it so I get to be the leader.. who else wants in? But onto the point of the thread, discuss your favorite moments, the depth of the characters and the joys of Al Bundy.

NO MA'AM FOR LIFE!!!

Church, cult..whatever.

Since I'm a paranoid bastard, does this church have a point?

Ok since you're MWC fans. Can you answer me this. Why did the show insist on having the audience scream and yell whenever anything happened. The constant cat calls and "Alright Al's made this show unwatchable.

If you watch the True Hollywood story the fans that were their live constantly did that to Christina Applegate. The Alright Al's I have only heard in maybe 1 out of 10 episodes so... the same idiot was on vacation at the same time each year. :)

Besides the show was funny as hell and wouldn't suprise me if there was a audience light but they didn't need it. I've seen some shows though that were pretty quiet.

I dunno about the NO MAAM thing, it was right about when the show started focusing on Al's friends during every episode that it started going down the tube.

Greatest 2 minutes of MWC : Al chewing out the substitute teacher who he thought was sleeping with Bud. Except she was about 90 years old.

"Huh...the last you saw 40, was 1840!"

Heh, while I can't pin it, I damn sure can contribute!

Here's one of my all-time favorite lines from when Kelly got her own TV show:

Al: "Pumpkin, you know I've always supported you unlike your mother!"(had to paraphrase there)

Bud: "Yeah right... You said you used to water things smarter than her!"

I TOTALLY agree. With a few exceptions, the NO MAAM era of MWC SUCKED.

I think the problem is just like you pointed out, the focus on Al's friends. That direction completely changed the dynamic of the show. So much of the humor was dependent on the interaction of the Bundys, Darcys/Rhodes's. Al having all those friends came out of NO WHERE. Him having friends made his life seem less miserable. That's just wrong.

The writers thought with NO MAAM, that Al would still carry that "hard-luck" persona if he had miserable friends.

Let's see:

-Jefferson (miserable w/Marcy)

-Griff (works with Al at shoe store, probably the most miserable of all)

-Officer Dan (got fired numerous times from CPD) and Bob Rooney (well, it's Bob Rooney...)

Who knows if they were "friends", per se. They were just all fed up with their wives (putting a TV hookup on top of Al's house) and their jobs...while banding together to stop Jerry Springer

You guys are all aware the writers and/or creaters were big wrestling fans? Besides cameos by a few wrestlers, they consciously named them the Bundy's and Rhodes's after King Kong Bundy and Dusty Rhodes.

They also had the episode where Al fought one of the GLOOW girls in Vegas. I love Married With Children. Now that I'm back in school though, I miss most of the syndicated episodes. They air from 12-1 here.

I watched it fairly religiously until the Cousin Oliver virus known as Seven pretty much signaled the death of the show.

Don't know why but the NO MA'AM vs breast feeding episode holds a special place for me. I think it's probably because of this gem:

"PRESENT BEER BELLIES!"

"BOOGIE DOWN!"

Oh shit, that's one of my favorite episodes ever. That really fat guy stripping and all the women screaming had me DYING of laughter.

Jefferson dressed as a woman pretending to breast feed was fucking hilarious.

I love the episode where Al crashes through a wall in the shoe store and discovers a ton of old 70's shoes. When he starts selling them it it too funny.

my favorite episode was the one where Bud had to go skydiving to impress this girl. The non reaction of Al walking out of the plane was one of funniest damn things on TV.

One of my favorite episodes are...

-The one when Marcy-Peggy-Kelly had their period and they were locked on a cabin with Al-Steve-Bud.

-The one when Joey Lauren Adams got married....damn, she looked Hotter than hell, and her bride maids... on Leather~!

*****

-One more, the one when Al build a doghouse, Al being screwed for the Inspector, building the house time after time, that was a funny episode.

*****

I believe the show began to suck when all got friends, Kelly and her dumb friends, mostly that one with glasses, Bud and his nerds friends, Al and ALL the F'n No Mam club.
