An Invasion that could work

Recommended Posts

Guest AnnieEclectic

The main problem with the previous two 'invasion' angles is that they really didn't have the serious nature it should have. There needs to be, and should have an actual invasion winning. Changing the 'WWE' (only kayfabe of course) to whichever league wins.

Now.

We essentially have two out of three leagues represented right now. Smackdown is rather WWE-ish but they have cruisers. RAW is becoming more and more Nitro-WCW ish.

Give the tag div. to SD as they're finally showing a division, and give the cruisers to RAW.

Now, RAW would not become officially "Eric Bischoff's WCW RAW" until one final factor reared it's head.

ECW.

With the HC title being absorbed into RVD's IC belt, a couple things can happen to set off this rollercoaster.

-Brock Gets Heat

Lets' make Brock the monster heel he needs to be. Heyman keeps backing him off like a scared kid. Have Lesnar go apenuts, killing people in matches, out of matches, and every time Paul tries to stop him, Lesnar balks. He goes crazy and takes out Paul, while immediatly attacking an over face on SD (you pick). Brock gets the uncontrollable monster label, and finally grabs some heat with his shiny belt. Heyman's out in the cold, nothing to do. He's angry, he's pissed.

He has a plan.

-Two? But Three Is A Lucky Number...

Heyman returns to RAW, promising a bigger historic moment than Eric Bischoff could ever hope for. The timing and placement has to be perfect, somewhere in Oct. or Nov. in Philadelphia. Definitly Philly.

Eric talks to RVD, noting who's in the building, RVD shows his disgust for Heyman. Eric thinks he has everything in hand.

Heyman comes out and enters the ring, starts bashing Lesnar for dropping him. He tries to lower the WWE belt on Lesnar. Eric comes out and agrees with that notion, but tells Heyman he has.... three minutes.

Heyman gulps, does his "Oh Shit" face that he does so well... but then finds some courage and tells Eric that the RAW title is nothing more than a junked old title that has no place being returned. Accuses Bisch of trying to turn RAW into Nitro behind the McMahon's back. Eric sends out the Island Boys. Before they get to Heyman however.... RVD, Dreamer, the Dudleys and Stevie Richards all run out, weapons in hand, and start beating the crap out of the Island Boys until they run back to Eric. Imagine the face pop. RVD stands on the turnbuckles holding his IC title high as Dreamer stands on the the other one facing Bisch.

Heyman: Welcome to Philadelphia, Bischoff. I couldn't care what that slut is doing to her daddy's company at Smackdown, and I couldn't care less about this second rate version of WCW. I have the true world's Champion right here!

Bischoff: Rob Van Dam is not holding a world belt, no matter how much you try to call it that.

Heyman: You're right. *points to RVD's belt* That is -not- the World title...

Tommy Dreamer lifts his shirt out of his pants, rolling it up to show the belt underneath it. The cameras catch a glimpse of the Title... showing the original ECW World Title.

Heyman: I declare -THIS- the Real World Championship. It will be defended on RAW, it will be defended on SmackDown... it will be defended everywhere by any challenger, on ECW rules!

(huge pop and chants for E-C-Dub)

-So, who's the REAL World Champ?

Bisch has to make his title worthwhile, so does Steph at SD. Both champs fight with their belts to try to make it look good, both call theirs the world title.

...but ECW keeps making appearances.

Bisch fights to the hilt, trying to ban ECW guys from ringside or in the arena, but failing.

Steph, with her "old ties" to ECW tries to play friendly, allowing ECW to defend their title as long as they don't interfere with her plans. Heyman agrees, barely, only because with Steph recognizing ECW, Bisch will have to...

Bisch starts to allow title shots as ECW wins the Tag titles on SD. He sees this as a shot to grab a belt off the SD show and leave them with only the Lesnar SD title.

ECW defends... and defends as any match with an ECW guy follows ECW rules. ECW grabs the Cruiser title off the champion, leaving only two belts remaining for the rogue group to get.

World, and 'Undisputed'

Lesnar takes on Dreamer in match for the SD World title, Dreamer accepts in an ECW rules match. As Heyman is running the ECW show again, he knows all of Lesnar's weaknesses, coaches Dreamer on how to take advantage, Dreamer wins.

Suddenly, Heyman gets on the Mic....

Heyman: My man, TOMMY DREAMER, is now Champion of Smackdown! Smackdown is.... ECW! Until I see someone take this belt off this man, all SmackDown matches will be under OUR rules! If.. for some reason... you don't like that, take the belt off of Dreamer, or take the ECW belt for yourself! Until then, our belts... OUR RULES!

-The other shoe drops

On RAW, Triple H ensures Bisch that by in no uncertain terms, will the RAW World Title land in Tommy Dreamer's hands. Eric agrees, making sure that he books matches to try and wrest the other WWE titles away from ECW.

Card goes through, you see where this is going....

Dreamer, under ECW rules (probably gang warfare near the end of the match) sneaks a win out of Triple H.

The Raw(WCW) Belt is his, the SD(WWE) belt is his.... and so is the ECW World Belt.

WWE... is now.... ECW.

-The New November to Remember

The next PPV is renamed in ECW's big show honor. Paul Heyman declares that -he- is now in control of this company. And he dares anyone to take the belts off his guys to prove it. Over the next two shows, Eric Bischoff reaches out to the remaining roster to see who will be purely loyal to him. Stephanie McMahon does the same. Both GM's seal their rosters by making Eric's group officially the WCW roster, Stephanie having a WWE roster.

At the PPV, one of Eric's WCW guys (probably Hurricane or Rey Rey) nabs the Cruiser belt back off of ECW's holder. Eric Bischoff declares that all Cruiser matches as long as -his- guy has the belt will be held under -WCW- rules.

Stephanie gets a Tag match win, declaring that Tag Title defenses are under jurisdiction of WWE rules.

no other titles change hands at the PPV, with Dreamer and RVD defending their titles.

-Aftermath

There are now finally -three distinct rosters- with their own match rules to follow. ECW controls the Unified World Belt, which controls it's own matches as well as all other non-title match rules.

WCW has the Cruiser Belt, so Cruiser defenses follow WCW rules (probably DQ allowed, DQ for throwing a man over the top rope, count out to 20 [only due to the Cruiser ties, and to make their rules a bit more distinct than WWE])

WWE has the Tag Belts which are defended under WWE rules (DQ allowed, no DQ for over the top rope, only 10 count on the outside)

There is now a -reason- for each faction to get any belt (making them worth more) and a huge reason to get the Unified World (which probably won't stay on Dreamer for very long). Any belt they get off an ECW guy is defended under 'their rules' giving them a distinct advantage in keeping that belt longer. Getting the world means their guys don't have to worry about competing under anyone else's rules.

This is an invasion that could work, because it defines hard, and visible lines between the three. ECW is chosen to make the big break as they would be easily seen as a rogue faction for their harder rules, plus they're the big underdogs. I'd put WWE to go over sometime before the Rumble, until Wrestlemania where in the ME a WCW guy gets the Unified World and starts Eric's reign on top of the company.

Whatcha think of this idea?

Interesting.

The only flaw I can think of..is that the last ECW champion was Rhyno, wasn't it?

The only reason I think Dreamer is because he had the HC belt last.

As ECW is basically Hardcore Title rules, the last thing people would remember was Dreamer holding it before RVD absorbed it into his belt. RVD has the IC belt, no need to give him the ECW World as well while it still exists (before Unification) so Dreamer gets it.

Plus, he "Was ECW" so I felt it made sense.

I think it could work, actually..but..

They'd have to invest a little time into Tommy Dreamer. Play up his ECW side. "The Innovator of Violence". Have him snap and beat the living hell out of a few people, such as Big Slow. It'd require character development, which I'm not too sure if they're capable of.

However..a positive sign. The RVD/Dreamer match was enjoyed, and it was just two guys going out there and wrestling. I'd rather see somebody like Dreamer get a push for a while than another Hoss, or Bubba Ray, or more Triplemania.

I think the inherant flaw here is that Bischoff would just squash Heyman out of the gate by stripping RVD of the IC title and having Heyman and his boys tossed out of the building. What real leverage does Heyman have to get this all going? Unless you have Vince behind him as a "higher power" again trying to test the mettle of his two gm's to see who gets to run the whole shebang wants he puts the fed back together.

And, of course, Rhyno makes a better spearhead as the ECW World Champion anyway. I think Dreamer would be viewed as a midcard jobber, unless he gets some major build before hand.

In chat, problems arise as to who should lead ECW (people have a problem with Dreamer, and with Rhyno's return, he might be a better choice)

Plus, what would the exact rosters be? I think confusion could set in for two weeks, you know "Who's going where???" type of hype. But after two weeks the rosters should be somewhat set.

so, how would you make them? Here's what I'm thinking:

ECW led by Paul Heyman

Bubba Ray Dudley

Jazz

Justin Credible

Lance Storm

Rob Van Dam

Spike Dudley

Steven Richards

Tommy Dreamer

Dawn Marie

D-Von Dudley

Hardcore Holly (Let's face it, he's WWE, but his gimmick almost demands him here)

Tajiri

Tazz (ECW Announcer guy)

Raven

Saturn

WCW led by Eric Bischoff

Billy Kidman

Chavo Guerrero

Chris Benoit

Eddie Guerrero

Hugh Morrus

Hurricane

Jamie Noble

Rey Misterio

Shannon Moore

Booker T

Big Show

Chris Jericho

Ric Flair

Stacy Keibler

William Regal

Johnny Stamboli

Johnny Stamboli should be in WCW

Chuck should be also, unless you're adamant about keeping the C&B team together

true, Palumbo should go WCW if -only- to break up C&B. Ugh.

Let's try flock=ECW and Hogan=WWE

Hey, I *like* C&B. Not to crazy about this wedding thing, though.

If you wanted to break them up, then you could do an angle where they decide who gets "custody" of Rico

I totally dig that idea. I agree with Diablo that Rhyno should be the man to bring the ECW belt back into the mix, as he was the last holder and has a more Main Event look then Dreamer. Have Dreamer be ECW's spiritual leader, not wrestling, but kinda Heymans right hand man, calling the shots. Let RVD be the "secret weapon", always lurking in the background.

Having said all that, as goofy as this angle sounds, it's quite possible that we may see the ECW belt brought back. Hey, most thought the WCW belt was gone forever too...
