Guest MrRant Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Use a Game Boy, Go To Jail All I have to say is that is a bit extreme.
Guest Ozymandias Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 "In Greece...." *coughfagscough*
Guest J*ingus Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Come on, how difficult is it to tell a video poker machine from a Playstation? And why specify "online chess" as a rulebreaker when it's obviously not a form of gambling? And would I be wrong if I stated that the Gameboy and many other machines have NO games that involve actual money-changing-hands gambling? Fuck you, Greece.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 "The blanket ban was decided in February after the government admitted it was incapable of distinguishing innocuous video games from illegal gambling machines," the report said. WOW, the GOVERNMENT couldn't determine if a game was for gambling or not? Why didn't they just go find your average kid playing Nintendo and ask them? I can't believe I'm about to say this, but that's stupider than when the US government had the FBI look into the lyrics of "Louie, Louie," spending an OUTRAGEOUS amount of money in the process.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 NO VIDEO GAMES?!?! I know where I'm not taking my next vacation...
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 So...they ban video games in an effort to stop illegal gambling? Right... Break out the cards.
Guest EricMM Posted September 4, 2002 Report Posted September 4, 2002 Greek man #1: "I'll bet this doesn't wo... oops!" Greek man #2: "SEIZE HIM!!"
Guest Phr33k Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 "AHA! We caught you with your EEEEEVIL little video games! Now, you must stand on a street corner in Athens in a toga while playing a panflute while I personally shove souvlaki down your undershorts."
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 Well, at least Greece doesn't blame video games for brainwashing its youth and turning them into a bunch of school-shooting psychos...
Guest LaParkaMarka Posted September 5, 2002 Report Posted September 5, 2002 Man, Greece isn't really helping out their image here. I feel bad for the Greek Game companies. They are so screwed.
Guest Olympic Slam Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 *shakes head* No amount of hyperbole can say how dumb this is
Guest MrRant Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 Well, at least Greece doesn't blame video games for brainwashing its youth and turning them into a bunch of school-shooting psychos... Naw... now they are just blaming them for turning 8 yr old's into gambling junkies. Next up... Italy bans video games for getting kids into smack.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Posted September 6, 2002 Report Posted September 6, 2002 Well, at least Greece doesn't blame video games for brainwashing its youth and turning them into a bunch of school-shooting psychos... I feel so wrong for laughing at this... yet, I can not stop. LOL! Oh yeah, Greece is full of shit for passing a ruling like this. I guess this means I can get one of those handheld blackjack games and win MILLIONS, DAMMIT! Or maybe not...
Guest Rob Edwards Posted September 7, 2002 Report Posted September 7, 2002 I was actually in Crete when this law was passed, I'd have some sympathy for em if their weather wasn't so damn nice and they hadn't tried to rip me off for a broken balcony! It does seem a tad extreme though, I'd imagine cards will be illegal soon
Guest xerogame Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 ...remind me never to move to greece...if i didnt have my ps2, id die...or be bored to all hell
Guest evenflowDDT Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 Just when you think things can't get any weirder... is online gambling really THAT widespread? I also echo kkktookmybabyaway's statement.
Guest cobainwasmurdered Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 Use a Game Boy, Go To Jail All I have to say is that is a bit extreme. a bit?? That's REALLY extreme and stupid. Do they really think that this will stop people from gambling? Nothing will.
Guest jimmy no nose Posted September 8, 2002 Report Posted September 8, 2002 I hope they ban playing cards. That would be cool.
Guest SadisticCowGuyMan Posted September 10, 2002 Report Posted September 10, 2002 For the sake of being incredibly redundant to every other comment made as of yet, but anywho: RETARDED How incredibly difficult is it for the police to look at the damn gameboy as say, "Oh! Damn, that's NOT a gambling game....our idiotic mistake." But Nooooooo....o.o THIS is pathetic.
Guest Nevermortal Posted September 11, 2002 Report Posted September 11, 2002 Greece sucks. Eat some Feta cheese and let us play games, you cocks.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted September 12, 2002 Report Posted September 12, 2002 You'll be happy to know that the Law was deemed Unconstitutional by a court in Greece and has been repealed. Now you can play games in Greece again..
