This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. Come on, how difficult is it to tell a video poker machine from a Playstation? And why specify "online chess" as a rulebreaker when it's obviously not a form of gambling? And would I be wrong if I stated that the Gameboy and many other machines have NO games that involve actual money-changing-hands gambling? Fuck you, Greece.

"The blanket ban was decided in February after the government admitted it was incapable of distinguishing innocuous video games from illegal gambling machines," the report said.

WOW, the GOVERNMENT couldn't determine if a game was for gambling or not? Why didn't they just go find your average kid playing Nintendo and ask them?

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but that's stupider than when the US government had the FBI look into the lyrics of "Louie, Louie," spending an OUTRAGEOUS amount of money in the process.

So...they ban video games in an effort to stop illegal gambling?

"AHA! We caught you with your EEEEEVIL little video games! Now, you must stand on a street corner in Athens in a toga while playing a panflute while I personally shove souvlaki down your undershorts."

Well, at least Greece doesn't blame video games for brainwashing its youth and turning them into a bunch of school-shooting psychos...

Man, Greece isn't really helping out their image here. I feel bad for the Greek Game companies. They are so screwed.

Naw... now they are just blaming them for turning 8 yr old's into gambling junkies. Next up... Italy bans video games for getting kids into smack.

I feel so wrong for laughing at this... yet, I can not stop. LOL!

Oh yeah, Greece is full of shit for passing a ruling like this. I guess this means I can get one of those handheld blackjack games and win MILLIONS, DAMMIT! Or maybe not...

I was actually in Crete when this law was passed, I'd have some sympathy for em if their weather wasn't so damn nice and they hadn't tried to rip me off for a broken balcony!

It does seem a tad extreme though, I'd imagine cards will be illegal soon

Just when you think things can't get any weirder... is online gambling really THAT widespread?

I also echo kkktookmybabyaway's statement.

Use a Game Boy, Go To Jail

All I have to say is that is a bit extreme.

a bit?? That's REALLY extreme and stupid. Do they really think that this will stop people from gambling? Nothing will.

I hope they ban playing cards. That would be cool.

For the sake of being incredibly redundant to every other comment made as of yet, but anywho: RETARDED

How incredibly difficult is it for the police to look at the damn gameboy as say, "Oh! Damn, that's NOT a gambling game....our idiotic mistake." But Nooooooo....o.o THIS is pathetic.

You'll be happy to know that the Law was deemed Unconstitutional by a court in Greece and has been repealed.

Now you can play games in Greece again..
