Guest areacode212 Report post Posted September 4, 2002 I cannot believe Chun Li beat King on a wrestling message board, of all places. HAOHMARU (From Samurai Showdown) VS CHUN-LI (From Street Fighter) Haohmaru RYU (From Street fighter) VS IORI YAGAMI (From King of Fighters) Ryu AKUMA (From Street Fighter) VS SUB-ZERO (From Mortal Kombat) As much as it pains me, Akuma SCORPION (From Mortal Kombat) VS JIN KAZAMA (From Tekken) Jin, of course. All he needs to do is duck under that stupid spear, then it's EWGF all the way.
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted September 4, 2002 YES, FINALLY that awful boring scrub King is gone. Now if only he'd be gone from the Tekken series, I'd be happy. All the right people went over this round, woohoo. HAOHMARU (From Samurai Showdown) VS CHUN-LI (From Street Fighter) Hoahmaru, because of all the fun we had designing an entire CvsSNK2 groove to abuse his ridiculously broken fierce punch slash. RYU (From Street fighter) VS IORI YAGAMI (From King of Fighters) Ryu, especially if it's evil Ryu. Iori's not bad, but it's no contest. AKUMA (From Street Fighter) VS SUB-ZERO (From Mortal Kombat) Akuma, IHM is the coolest move in the history of fighting games. I'd love to see an Akuma/Ryu finals. SCORPION (From Mortal Kombat) VS JIN KAZAMA (From Tekken) Jin, because Scorpion is cliched and boring. He'll have to win with something else though, he doesn't have an EWGF anymore, at least not a real Mishima style one.

Guest ErekT2k Report post Posted September 5, 2002 HAOHMARU (From Samurai Showdown) VS CHUN-LI (From Street Fighter) Haohmaru. Swordsmanship rules all. RYU (From Street fighter) VS IORI YAGAMI (From King of Fighters) Ryu, because Iori is just wierd. AKUMA (From Street Fighter) VS SUB-ZERO (From Mortal Kombat) Akuma, a more versatile version of evil Ryu, even if he doesn't have the ultimate fireball in Capcom vs SNK 2. SCORPION (From Mortal Kombat) VS JIN KAZAMA (From Tekken) Hmmm, Scorpion.
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Arrrgh, Scorpion is now tied with Jin! Come on! f,n,d,d/f~2 > b,b+LP !!
Guest KoR Fungus Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Bah you lamers should play TK4. Jin isn't even just a Mishima clone anymore, he's a totally new fighter, and a badass one at that. And he's up against a pallette swapped ninja with two special moves. How is this even a contest?
Guest areacode212 Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Yeah, I know. But I stopped playing pre-T4, during the point when EWGF was all the rage, so I will forever associate Jin with that (until I start playing a new Tekken). I loved using Sonya in UMK3 and destroying all the spear-happy Scorp fans with the blonde chick whom they never took seriously.
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Haohmaru Ryu Akuma ... and Scorpion. Just because that gives us two awesome semi final matchups between the poster boys (Haohmaru/Ryu) and the demons (Akuma/Scorpion).
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 5, 2002 Chun Li Ryu Sub Zero Scorpion I can rock on anyone with Chun Li in any SF game up to and including Super SF 2 past that, well, I lost interest in the series. I picked Ryu because SF owns. Sub Zero because Akuma is a cheese character from hell. Scorp because I fuckin' hate Tekken.
Guest Thoth Report post Posted September 5, 2002 CHUN-LI (From Street Fighter) The first female of fighting. IORI YAGAMI (From King of Fighters) For god sakes, I use Iori as my avatar. Greatest fighting game character ever. AKUMA (From Street Fighter) MK sucks. Shun-Goku-Satsu! JIN KAZAMA (From Tekken) Again, MK sucks. Also, Jin is badass. Guest EricMM Report post Posted September 6, 2002 -Chun Li -Ryu -Akuma -Scorpian I really see Ryu taking it at this point. Chun-Li v. Ryu is almost as big a joke as Akuma v. Scorpian, and Akuma v. Jin won't be any different. And as for Ryu v. Akuma, gotta go with the original...

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted September 7, 2002 I still can't believe Scorpion is getting so many votes. The next time there's a tournament like this, we should have Grudge Match-style debates to decide the winners. Scorpion is an MK character, meaning he takes damage every time he takes a hit, even if it's blocked. On the other hand, Jin (who, for the purposes of this, is the Tekken 3 Jin, who I'm most familiar with), can stand there blocking forever and never get damaged, unless the machine has block damage turned on, which 95% of the time is not the case. What's that? Scorpion can throw blocking players? This is true, and unlike Jin, he can throw you even when you're ducking. Sadly for Scorpion, Jin can counter throws. Also, Jin has the f,f+1+2 headbutt, which gives him extra throwing range (it can be buffered after a dash). Let's look at Scorpion's special moves: BLK (in the air)--Air Throw--possibly only effective against the first hit of Jin's U/F+4,4,4,4, which isn't really the kind of move that players just throw out there regularly (unless they suck). Which means that it'll be practically impossible for Scorp to anticipate. Jin (and Tekken characters in general) don't really do a lot of jumping around. b,b+LP (spear) - the Scorpion fan favorite move, which is easily avoided by...ducking. Also, Scorpion has pretty bad recovery time while throwing the spear, leaving him open to a nice WS+2 juggle (provided Jin is in range). WS+2, 1,2,4, f,f+2 is a favorite of mine. QCB+HP (teleport punch) - good to use if Jin whiffs something. Other than that, it's easily blocked, and leaves Scorpion open for a juggle. Also, Jin has a reversal, rendering all of Scorpion's standing punches & kicks useless, since as an MK character, Scorpion has no ability to "chicken" anything. Meaning that he sucks. Fashion sense: Jin wears cool shiny black pants and no top, just like the uber-cool Yoshihiro Tajiri. Scorpion is dressed in yellow and black. Like, uh, the Killer Bees. And the members of Stryper. Also, the wrestler he resembles the most is Glacier. 'Nuff said. The bottom line: Jin = badass, Scorpion = goes home crying
Guest The Man in Blak Report post Posted September 7, 2002 It's the principle of the thing, areacode. Whenever I think of Jin, I think of the mind-numbing Mishima family tree...and I think of painkillers, which is what I need any time I try to concentrate on what's happening in the Tekken series plotline. Whenever I think of Scorpion, I see him throwing that spear right in Johnny Cage's chest and yanking him over for a finishing uppercut with blood going everywhere. Just the principle of the thing.
